[Resolved] Live Chat Support

Tuesday, January 8th, 2008 by: Kate Linden

[UPDATE 5:34 PM]  Live chat is up and running again. Thank you for your patience.

Live chat support is currently experiencing difficulties. Please submit a support ticket in lieu of live chat until the issue is resolved.  Updates will be posted here.

The support portal will be off line Sunday, 30 Dec, 9:00 - 9:30 pm PST, for a quick round of system maintenance.  During that time, ticket and live chat access will be unavailable.

[FIXED 1:45 pm PST]

Both the homepage and the forums are back in service now.

***

It’s hiding behind the grid status page. The Web team is busy coaxing it back out into the open. It shouldn’t be playing hide-and-go-seek much longer.

We apologize for the inconvenience.

This has been resolved, you should be able to access our Support Portal from any of our web servers.  We apologize for the inconvenience and thank you for notifying us about this problem!

…chances are, you’re talking to Webserver #20. Among all of our Webservers, #20 has suddenly decided it’s not on speaking terms with the support portal login. The others are working fine.

If you’re getting an error message on the support page, please check the URL in your browser. It’ll probably look like: https://secure-web20.secondlife.com/community/support.php

We’ll get web20 sorted out soon. Meanwhile, for a workaround, please either manually edit the URL and replace “web20″ with a lower designation between “web1″ and “web19″ or click here.

[RESOLVED 2:22 p.m. Pacific]  In world purchase has been restored.  We appreciate the draw on your patience.

*****

Numbers of residents are getting a “Despite our best efforts” dialog when attempting to purchase L$ using the in world tool.

Web and Operations teams are working to repair the problem now. Meanwhile, Web-based purchases are available. Thanks!

JIRA and Wiki scheduled outage

Tuesday, December 4th, 2007 by: Rob Linden

We’ll be taking jira.secondlife.com and wiki.secondlife.com out of service for maintenance for (hopefully) approximately one hour starting at 4pm PST to perform hardware upgrades.

Update 5:52pm: jira.secondlife.com is back up and running, but we’re still working on wiki.secondlife.com. Thanks for your patience.

Update 6:15pm: wiki.secondlife.com is back up. Comments open to report issues specifically related to this upgrade (nothing other than jira or wiki was affected)

Posted in Website Status |

We have one possible slowdown and one brief outage of the support portal scheduled this coming week.

  • Wednesday, 28 Nov, 6 - 9 a.m. PST: The portal will remain available, but residents may experience slowness.
  • Saturday, 1 Dec, 9 p.m. - Sunday, 2 Dec, 2 a.m. PST: The support portal will be unavailable.

We appreciate your patience during this time.

[RESOLVED] Network Failure Issues

Tuesday, November 20th, 2007 by: Teeple Linden

[8:39 AM PST] Network Failure Issues in Second Life have been resolved.  Thank you for your patience.

[7:56 AM PST] Residents of Second Life may experience failed Teleports, slow or unsuccessful logins, issues with Region crossing, or their Region being down. Our Ops Team is working hard to fix these issues. We will update you here when further information is available. Thank you for your continued patience.

[12.06 AM PST] [RESOLVED] All regions should be up and running. There are still some background issues we are working on but Second Life should be running normally for residents. We truly appreciate your patience during difficult period and apologise for the hassle it may have caused you. - Matthew

[10:43 PM PST] Good news is most regions are now up. Approximately 40 regions are either not up yet or are up but not accessible. These regions are being worked on. Logins should be working properly. All services should be working properly. - Kate

[8:57 PM PST] We are still working to bring up the remaining regions. Some residents may experience login issues. Other services still experiencing difficulties include rezzing objects, teleporting, transactions, and landing points. We thank you for your patience. - Kate

[7:46 PM PST] Some regions are coming up now. We still have 275 regions down and are continuing to work on the remaining issues. - Kate

[7:28 PM PST] At this time there are still 1000+ regions down. These regions will remain down while the databases are being worked on. We expect this problem to be resolved soon and will keep you updated. - Kate

[6:59 PM PST] As the grid continues to settle there are still services and regions not up to speed. Purchases may be risky right now, as well as deeding land. Teleporting and landing points may not be working properly. We appreciate your patience while our engineers work to resolve these issues. - Kate

[6:37 PM PST] The root issue’s been fixed, but the grid is going through a bit of settling as some services come back up to full speed. Group memberships and find in particular should become more responsive over the next few minutes. If your L$ balance is incorrect, please relog before reporting it via Support. We apologize for the inconvenience.

[5.18 PM PST] Operations teams at the Lab and the co-location facility are working to address the DNS failures which are inhibiting logins and Website access.

Region crossings (both direct and TP) are also failing in world.

We’ll update as we get more info.
