[RESOLVED @ 9:32PM Pacific] This issue has been resolved by our technical team. I’ll remain inworld to keep an eye on things. Thanks everyone for your patience and have a good evening!
We are experiencing gridwide slowdowns that may cause issues with search, mapping, teleporting, payments, asset operations and display of inworld L$ balances.
Our technical team has been notified and is currently investigating.
In the meantime, please avoid making any inworld transactions and operations on no-copy assets.
Good day! Many moons back, a portion of Linden’s Community Team developed a project meant to deliver better local Governance control to the grid. What does this mean? Many things. For starters: The Estate Level Abuse program which we’ve been Beta Testing since January. This was a test designed to allow estate owners to receive and resolve their own abuse reports in the method in which they best see fit. No longer subject to Linden’s ideas on how abuse could be handled, estate owners in the test had abuse reports filed on their land sent directly to their email.
Almost 200 regions participated and over 10 Estate Owners were involved in receiving reports. Owners were able to delegate to estate managers how they liked. The response has been good. We’ve received many suggestions on how to improve the program and in the future we plan on releasing the program to the entire grid. So what does this all mean? Read Below:

[Apr. 25] Earlier this week, we were able to successfully restore a number of Residents’ missing inventory. More inventory fixes are being put in place to substantially reduce the likelihood of this sort of thing happening again.
[Apr. 17 @ 5 PM PDT] Results of our investigation: on Friday (2007-04-13), several hundred thousand Residents’ data was moved to different inventory servers to alleviate load.
Unfortunately, this resulted in problems, because a “transform” sequence erroneously ran multiple times, overwriting data and resulting in some Residents with missing inventories.
Currently, we’ve examined the logs and identified 9 Residents with entire inventories missing, and 42 with partially “messed-up” inventory. We’re sorry if you’re among the affected; we’re working quickly to restore each of these inventories from backups, and hoping all goes well.
Please note the above applies to this specific issue. There are a number of earlier inventory loss issues that’ve affected more Residents, which appear to have similar or the same root causes. We’re also working on these. For more general inventory loss info, read on.
We’ve received a recent rise in reports of inventory loss, including inventory resulting back to default, including your avatar. We’re actively investigating this and having already helped a number of Residents, we’re continuing to work on individual cases.
In order to help you better, as with bugs and issues in general, it’s important that if you think you’re affected, that you rule out other causes first.
Before reporting inventory loss to us, please check all of the following:

[UPDATE 10:45PM] These appear to have been resolved. Thanks.
Liaison and in-world responders are claiming high reports of ‘ruthed’ avatars, inventories and avatars not loading, ect. We are checking on the issue now.
If you are experiencing viewer crashes or other problems you should report them, but you can also download the 1.13.3 viewer which will be supported during this transition period. The links are provided at: http://blog.secondlife.com/2007/03/27/second-life-1140-viewer-released/#comment-174097
We assure the sky is not falling.
Yet.
Post back soon when we have more info…
[UPDATE: RESOLVED 11:30PM] These rolling restarts have been completed. Have a good night!
It was noted today that a number of simulator hosts were running code prior to the llSetScriptState and “WarpPos” fixes recently deployed. We’ve updated the code and will be restarting the following mainland regions in order (A - Z) at 11:00 PM PDT. A number of private island regions were also affected and the owners of the regions have been asked to restart the regions at their convenience. We hope this will reduce the chance of a restart conflicting with a scheduled event.
The following regions on the Mainland will be restarted beginning tonight (March 27, 2007) at 11:00 PM PDT:

[3:55AM SLT] Good news, crisis averted! Logins and Teleports should be all cleared up and the Grid has returned to it’s usual ‘teleportable’ self.
[2:53AM SLT] A few people have reported minor troubles trying to Log in, as well as routing and teleporting problems. We are aware of the issue and our operations department is on it, working to get it running. During this time, a significant portion of the Second Life grid will not be able to be teleported too while we figure out these routing issues. We’ll keep you updated as things develop.
The following is a transcript of the Technical Town Hall with Cory Linden, held on December 20, 2006 @ 2:30 PM PST.
Cory Linden: Good afternoon and thank you all for showing up. It has been far too long since I’ve done a town hall meeting so this should be fun. With Jeska’s help, I’ve pulled questions from the blog thread and I’d like to start by answering a bunch of those in a data-dump kind of way, then we can spend the bulk of the hour trying to hit as many additional questions as possible. Let’s see if we can’t set a new record for number of lines of chat text in one hour.
OK, here we go . . .

Friendly greetings! It’s me, Torley Linden, Community Developer of Communications. In the midst of another productive day @ Linden Lab, I wanted to take the time to answer some of your blog-related questions:

Wow, we’ve gotten a lot of orders for private regions! Thank you to everyone who has placed an order. It is great to see how many people are excited about purchasing their own island.
There have been a number of requests for clarification on some of the statements about the private region price change, and we wanted to address them.
If this is something that interests you, we highly suggest clicking below to see the details.
