Many Residents have been having problems getting registered to comment on our blog. It ended up causing more difficulties than benefits — including concerns of name-swipers — so to such ends, I personally apologize for the sucky trouble — required registrations for commenting are again turned off.
No doubt great feedback will follow my post here.
(In the future, like has already pointed out, it’d be far better to connect your SL account to this blog automatically, as is currently done in the forums.)

[UPDATE - Oct. 6 @ 4:49 PM PDT] We’re aware certain email address domains, like @hotmail.com and @msn.com, don’t work for signing up. As the message says:
You cannot use that email address to signup. We are having problems with them blocking some of our email. Please use another email provider.
Unfortunately this is not something we have control over. I haven’t tested this, but try: signup using a different email address, and then login. Then, from the toolbar on top, My Account > Edit Profile and change your email. Please comment if this works for you.
[UPDATE - Oct. 6 @ 3:50 PM PDT] As noted in the comments, you should choose the “Gimme a blog!”option when signing up if you want to change your profile. Whether you use it or not is up to you. Thanx Frans and Matt!
Hiya, it’s me again. I’m soooo happy we’re in our new home @ WordPress VIP. Hopefully, the most excellent question of: “THE BLOG DOESN’T LOAD WHEN SL IS HAVING PROBLEMS! WHY!??” will be but a fading nightmare.
Massive thanxies to Jeff, Mark, and all Lindens who helped us transition, and I salute Matt Mullenweg, who’s a genius of personal publishing.
Like the title says, you’ll need to be registered to comment on our blog.

You might notice a few things appear to be missing on the right sidebar- most notably the list of authors and the event calendar. We are investigating our options, but the blog is otherwise at its new host.
Yes, we have moved over to WordPress.com’s VIP program, which is basically “we’ll run your blog for you and do some custom work, in return, you pay us some money.” To me, that’s exactly what we’re looking for, as our business does not precisely revolve around making the blog stay up, but it sure as hell depends on it.
So, just for the record, so far the WordPress.com guys have been rockin’- I’ve talked to Matt himself, and the WP folks that I do get to talk to are both competent and fast- which is more than I can say for myself sometimes.
Bear with us if you notice anything else out of the ordinary, and please do feel to make comments again.
One of my projects is to move the blog to its new host over the next couple of days. As such, the easiest option currently is to freeze the blog database while we are transitioning it, and as such, I have asked Lindens not to post anything that they aren’t willing to repost.
I will now ask the same of you- while we’re in transition, please save your comments until I sound the all-clear. I promise I will do my best to make it fast!

[10:58 AM PDT/SLT] It was just some bad formatting pasted in here, no worries. All good now!

Good news! Jose Linden’s been doing blog improvements. So now you’ll see timestamps at the top of entries next to dates—this was much-requested and it’s amazing how a little change can make a big difference. The font’s also a little bigger so you can see it easier.
Also, Categories on the right-hand sidebar have been cleaned up and reorganized for your convenience. Some old ones which hardly got used got weeded out, some have been merged (e.g. “Creativity” and “Ideas”), and some new ones have been added to help you find what you’re looking for.

In response to Residents who said want to see more info upfront without so much scrolling back—you’re absolutely right. Now, our Official Linden Blog shows 30 posts at a time, up from the previous 10. Performance should still be speedy, and more blog announcements to come will be shared here!
Cheers.
