[Update 5:37PM PDT] Please note that our payment systems and Registration pages will also be offline as well during this maintenance window.
In our continuing effort to improve the Grid, Second Life will be unavailable tomorrow, April 4, from 7am - 11am PDT. (14:00-18:00 GMT) (more…)
At this time, we are planning to bring Second Life down for maintenance next Wednesday, April 4th. The expected duration for this will be relatively short. I will post the schedule as soon as it has been confirmed. This downtime will be for maintenance only and no new features or bug fixes are scheduled. More details to follow…
UPDATE: The downtime will be scheduled for 7am-11am PDT (14:00-18:00 GMT)
In approximately 30 minutes, we will be rebooting regions on the Second Life Grid for a server upgrade. Each region will be given a warning of a few minutes before the region actually restarts, leaving everyone to scramble to another region before being logged out. We will post back when the grid is done rolling and the update is over. Thanks!
[Update: 11:45 AM PDT] We believe the login issue has been resolved. You may experience a side effect whereby multiple duplicate folders show up in inventory. This will be resolved later today for anyone who experienced this problem prior to the login issue. (more…)
[UPDATE 5PM PST: Thanks for the overwhelming response! We have met our group meetings quota and all the spots have been filled. I will continue to review the comments to this Blog post as well as publish the meeting results for further discussion soon, thanks again for your support.]
In an effort to make our Website more useful and easier to use, we will be undergoing a major redesign of www.secondlife.com in the coming months. As part of this project, we are building a set of Web-based tools to allow you to manage various aspects of your account, tentatively called my.secondlife.com.
These tools could include everything from organizing group memberships to editing your profile to browsing recommended in-world locations, all done via our site. It is our hope that these tools will provide you much greater flexibility and control over your Second Life experience. Our goal is to allow better integration of Second Life with the 2d Web and ultimately extend out to mobile devices and more.
While we are still very much in the early planning stages of this project, we would like to establish an ongoing collaboration with you, our Residents, in the design process. (more…)
[Update: 06:12PM PST 01/22/07] The problems appear to have been caused by heavy database load this afternoon. At this time Grid activity has stabilized and teleports etc. should be working per usual.
[Update 03:36 PST 01/22/07] Nothing new to report yet…still looking into the problem.
We are currently experiencing issues with failed Teleports, Linden $ account balances, and avatars not showing up at login, and profile information not loading. We are investigating these issues now and will post an update here as soon as more information becomes available. Thanks for your patience and understanding in this matter…
We’re doing a rolling restart to address a script-email issue and to address some simulator crashes. This has nothing to do with this afternoon’s database issues. By approximately 6:00PM PST, the restart should be finished across all regions.
[UPDATE: 4:26PM PST 01/19/07]
At this time, we believe we have resolved these issues….
Residents may be experiencing failed teleports, ability to change appearence, viewing profiles, and searching for land sales. We are currently investigating these issues and will have an update shortly. Thanks for your patience and understanding as we work quickly to resolve this matter.
We’ve had many concierge clients writing/calling in the last several hours saying their islands aren’t set up right because of the problems with Manage Telehub and subdividing. (more…)
Here is a current list of issues you may be experiencing with the new release. We will keep you updated as soon as we have more news and information regarding these issues and their resolution. (more…)
