[RESOLVED 5:00PM PDT] Everything should have returned to normal by now as the repairs have finished. We apologize for any inconveniences you may have encountered during this time.
[UPDATE 4:00PM PDT] We still have not gotten word on the status of the repair. We apologize that this is taking so long. We hope to receive word soon.
[UPDATE 3:25PM PDT] Our vendor has dispatched an engineer to the facility. We are waiting for them to complete the repairs so we can bring the system back up to full speed. You may still notice intermittent problems until those repairs are completed. Further updates to follow.
[UPDATE 2:40PM PDT] The problem has been traced to a faulty piece of equipment and we are attempting to have repaired or replaced. Once that has been done things should return to normal. We will keep you updated on our progress.
[2:14PM PDT] We are investigating intermittent database and asset server issues. These may affect logins, teleporting, viewing scripts/notecards, and rezzing items in world. We are aware of the problem and working to isolate the source. We will have updates as we have more information. -Chiyo
[8:51 AM - RESOLVED] - The manual process has been completed and all group payouts have been run. - Matthew
[8:38 AM - Update] - Our engineering colleagues have identified the issue and are running the group payout process manually at the moment. It should be completed very soon and all groups will have paid out.
[8:17 AM - Update] - No further information on this at the moment.
We’ve been told by residents their nightly group distributions have not yet occurred. Upon further inspection we have found this may be true for other groups as well. We are investigating and will update when group distributions have completed or when we know when we can expect them to do so. -Chiyo
[Completed 10:41am] Situation with stipends has been corrected.
As anyone who has been here long knows, Second Life is a world that is constantly evolving and changing. Many of those changes are a result of growth. As our population has continued to grow, we are finding it is taking longer to process weekly stipends. Traditionally they have always been paid out on Tuesday. This is not changing, but you may find they do not show up in your account until later in the day on Tuesday or possibly even on Wednesday in some cases.
Nothing has changed in how stipends are distributed and everyone who is entitled to a stipend will receive theirs in due course. That course is just taking a little longer than it used to.
We will update this post when we have word that all stipends for this week have been processed.
[10:29 AM] The patch has finished rolling in world. We believe this should solve the rash of stuck presences which have been interfering with some residents’ login attempts this morning. We’ll be monitoring service portal requests to double-check. Thanks for your patience!
[9:58 AM] Operations will be deploying a patch within the next few minutes as part of their corrective effort. It should take only a few seconds to visit each region in world, but will momentarily disrupt group prifles and friends online information.
[9:17 AM SLT - Re-opened] Login issues have returned. We are working to resolve these issues as quickly as possible. Thank you for your patience.
[8:17 AM SLT - Resolved] The difficulties below have now been resolved. Many thanks for you patience whilst we worked on these.
We have been getting multiple reports of logins failing and/or residents with stuck presence (”You are being logged out. Your account will not be available until… ). We are investigating the root cause and will be updating you on our progress as new information becomes available.
Other systems also seem to be affected including the Search tool and possibly Group Info. We will let you know when we can expect things to be returning back to normal as soon as we have a clear picture on what is causing this and what it will take to repair it.
[RESOLVED 6:33pm PDT] These issues have been resolved and you should now be able to perform in-world transactions as normal. We apologize for any inconveniences this may have caused.
[UPDATE 4:47pm PDT] While we continue to work on the issue, it has not yet been resolved and we continue to advise that transactions may not work properly at this time. Please keep an eye on this blog for further updates. Thank you.
[UPDATE 2:56PM] We may have been slightly premature in that All Clear before. We are still seeing intermittent problems, but on a much smaller scale. Please be advised that in world transactions are not at 100% at the moment and you may experience potential difficulties.
[UPDATE] The problem is working itself out and it should be once again ok to make purchases and money transactions. If you made a transaction and it did not appear to complete, please check your transaction history on the website and contact the person you paid/bought the item from to confirm that they did not receive the L$ or to request a possible replacement for items not received.
We are getting increased reports of failed or stale money transactions and item purchases. Please refrain from making purchases for the time being until we can track down the source and resolve the issue. Thank you.
[UPDATE 5:55AM] The best news is we were able to head off the problem before it became worse and things should be returning back to normal as we speak. : )
The bad news is 400 regions are currently offline and we suspect that many more may be affected by the same problem over the next few hours. This can happen without warning and we do apologize. We know how disconcerting this can be.
The good news is we know why this is happening and are working feverishly to prevent it from continuing as much as possible and repair the damage that has already been done. Please bear with us while we continue our efforts to bring everything back to where it should be. We will provide updates as we have new information.
[Update 3:08PM PST - Kate] Good news! We believe we have fixed the texture upload issue and residents will regain color in due time. We will continue to watch this and update you here. Again, thank you to all of the residents who provided us with information.
[Update 2:34 PM PST - Kate ] Thank you to all of the residents who submitted tickets and let us know about textures not uploading. Since this is affecting so many residents, we will be communicating on this issue here. Our developers are hard at work trying to resolve this as quickly as they can and we will provide you with a status update as soon as possible.
[March 19th, 2008 5:28 AM PST] We are getting reports from some residents that there are regions where textures do not seem to be loading properly. The effect is everyone in the region appears gray to everyone else. We are investigating the cause and will have updates as soon as possible.
If this problem is occurring in your region, first try rebaking your textures (Ctrl-Alt-R). If that does not work, please try clearing your cache and relogging. If after that everyone in the region is still gray, please contact support via the support portal. Please be sure to include the name of the region in your ticket.
[Update 7:35 AM] We’ve discovered the networking issue that was at fault and it has been terminated with extreme prejudice. Our deepest apologies to everyone who had any difficulty logging in. Everything should now be back to normal. -Chiyo
Currently we are receiving reports of residents being unable to log in and some regions being offline or inaccessible. We are aware of the issue and are investigating. We will have updates as more information comes in.
In the meantime, if you cannot log in please try to relog into a different region such as Fame, Fortuna, or Brilliant.
We accidentally offered the 1.19 Release Candidate viewer before it was ready to be downloaded! This download has been removed for the time being and we will be let you know as soon as it becomes available. — Frontier
The 1.19 Release Candidate is not currently operational… as such, please do not attempt to upgrade to this version as it will force a downgrade to 1.18.6. The issues are being addressed currently and should be resolved fairly soon.
