Blue's Blog
SL early beta resident turned Linden. Always concerned with and representing the resident experience. Always want to know what you think. Always wondering when I can next get some sushi, except when stuffing sushi down my neck.

Numerous residents are finding themselves unable to login after logging out due to a Presence issue where SL thinks they are still inworld. If you find yourself in this situation please wait at least 30 minutes before trying again. If it continues to be a problem, please contact customer support.
We are currently working to diagnose the problem. Sorry for the inconvenience!

[PST 3:06 pm] The release planned for the morning of Wednesday the 15th has been postponed which means there will be no downtime as previously announced for Second Life tomorrow. There is also no release planned for the 22nd due to the Thanksgiving holiday and various Lindens travelling to see families and friends. The next release has been tentatively scheduled for the 29th. We will continue to post updates to our Beta Grid with the 1.13 release candidate and encourage Residents to use this test grid in the meantime.
The decision was made to delay any significant update while we continue to investigate and seek solutions for ongoing performance and network issues affecting some users.

[PST 2:35 pm] As I type there are only 4 regions in the red and restarting, reports of teleport issues are rare, if any. No reports of missing assets for 30 minutes. 14000+ concurrency. That’s the Good News!
The Bad News is that we don’t have a full resolution of problems related to the weekend’s grid-wide issues.
The Other good news is that Devs have been working their butts off on these issues and we can hope to see some code pushed before long to begin to address them. More specifically, they are working on improvements that should improve performance during peak concurrency. I will be sure to update you as soon as I hear anything new.
We’ve very grateful for your continued patience in this matter.

[PST 5:28 pm] Despite repeated fixes that initially appeared to be easing the database load slowly but surely, Developers are continuing to put out related fires.
Forecast calls for continued teleport issues, sim crashes and assets not rezzing/displaying. If you experience any of these issues, it’s not on your end. We’re very sorry to not have an ETA for resolution at this point. I’ll post updates here as I learn more from the front lines.

[PST 6:46 pm] The database load problem has been determined to be one that cannot be fully resolved at the current time. Although we will continue to monitor, diagnose and mitigate the problem until tomorrow when it can be fully addressed. Potential symptoms might include: Region crashes, teleports failing, L$ balance at 0$, avatar is invisible, and trouble rezzing objects. We understand these issues are significantly inconvenient. Please bear with us as we work to minimize the effects.
[PST 6:40 pm] Some related issues persist. Please forgive the inconvenience while we diagnose the problem.
[PST 5:42 pm] About 45 minutes ago teleport issues resulted in the in-world announcement that there was a database problem. No sonner did I make the all-call than the issue was resolved and the database load dropped to normal levels. Currently there is a wave of downed sims which appears to be unrelated. The cause is being investigated currently and regions are being reset. Please bear with us while we work on a solution.

[PST 12:23pm] The great majority of downed regions are back online and the specific cause is being investigated.
[PST 12:23pm] Grid Monkey and several others are currently working on the problem. Regions are currently being restarted. Sorry for the inconvenience.
[PST 12:16 pm] Numerous regions showing up red and not auto-restarting. The cause is under investigation and GridMonkey is being paged. Please bear with us as we work to rectify the situation.
