Great Torley. ” Right… good thing we only did 497 regions. We need to revert those regions back to 1.19.1.81992″. Can you, please, make a tutorial to the other Linden in how to do QA before deploying new code. And explain what is QA, I think they do not know the meaning of that. “good thing,,,” how someone can put this kind of statment, I think LL needs a huge management switch.

Torley, the work you do is amazing. I’m a Teen Grid Mentor 2.0 and these videos are so handy in helping both English-speaking and foreign residents. You deserve a medal for all of these video tutorials. It helps immensely to have a visual aid rather than trying to explain everything through chat. I absolutely love you. Lol.
Thanks so Much!

I love these video tutorials, cuz i’m a very visual person when it comes to learning things. i only wish they’d been around when i first joined so i didn’t have to feel like an idiot when i bugged my friends about how to do something.

Great Torley !!! Just great !!!!!

Torley Linden Wrote : “Adding & divorcing a Partner - Love & separation in 2 min.”

This just sounds so funny
Can’t make Torley a CEO, he does his best work doing exactly what he does now, hopefully that’s also because he’s happiest doing what he does
Damn I’m getting leatrning overload here ………….

“Linden Lab’s Torley Linden is a man possessed - today he’s released 22 new tutorial videos [...]”
Hmm. I wonder. Is he really a REPLICATOR? (Stargate fans will know what I mean)
Maybe there are multiple copies of Torley out there and that’s how he maintains such a massive output of quality tuts. A-freakin-mazing.
I wonder if all these Torleys continue to replicate… soon we’ll have a whole planet populated with them.
Time for a spin-off, Linden Labs - when will you release “Second Torley?” LMAO

Always a bright point and beam of light in a sometimes dark place full of woe and bad news as this blog seems to be more and more.
Thanks Torley your sheer pleasure and enthusiasm rekindles my love of what SL is actally about….. now go put a spark up someones bum in the bugs and lag dept and see if you can enthuse them to give us a smooth easter!!!!!
Seriously though
:)
excellent

You rock Torley. I always love your videos. I even watch the ones that go over concepts I already know about. I always get a pointer or two out of watching your Vids. Nice pacing, nice production values, and wow… thanks for all the work. We appreciate it. ~Max~
March 20th, 2008 at 5:15 AM
I have to add though rereading your blog post that I had to downgrade to 1.18.5.3 to get any stability from SL with horrid out of memory crashes and lack of buildability! The RC was better than the current std viewer but still slow buggy and laggy (yes I know its RC before someone whines about bug testing etc), I usually use RC viewers as a rule to enjoy the said bugfixes, just this one happens to be pants for me
March 20th, 2008 at 5:27 AM
Torley.. how about a short video tutorial on UNMUTING?
I’d love to be able to point customers to such a tutorial when they have clicked that handy “mute” button on some landmark giver’s inventory offer and rather than muting the landmark offer, or muting the GIVER they find they have actually muted the shop owner!
(this is the root cause of 90% of my “Paid but didn’t receive” problems from customers).
March 20th, 2008 at 6:23 AM
Thank you Torley
i’ve learned a couple of things from this tutorial pack.
Would be nice to see a tutorial about “video capture” someday and also how u “zoom” the video for better detail
March 20th, 2008 at 6:56 AM
torley is always welcome, because SL has no help-documentation… in europe they cant work that way, because they need a help in the language they offer their “SOFTWARE”……
March 20th, 2008 at 7:07 AM
Thank you so much for all of your continuing hard work to make our experience smoother! You exemplify the fun of SL.
March 20th, 2008 at 7:18 AM
I agree with Winter @ 16… excellent idea. People really need to be more aware of even the *existence* of said mute list… and how frighteningly easy it is to add others to that list by *accident*. You can do it, Torley - those affected by romances and friendships destroyed by accidental mutes will owe you a world of gratitude
March 20th, 2008 at 7:26 AM
Hiding the Search panel in the menu bar - BY POPULAR DEMAND, NEW IN 1.19.1 RC!
Thanks for bringing the attention on that one Torley!
For us outside the US, those connection data trafic monitoring bars are way more useful than the search.
Besides that… for all the nagging ones: 1.19 are a confirmed processor hog
LL version eats about 75% CPY where Henri’s cool viewer eats only 40%.
Something on the not so oprimized side of life?
And yes, a vid tutorial on muting/unmuting would be good for the community.
thanks Torley, good work!
March 20th, 2008 at 7:31 AM
Oh Thanks and thanks and hugs. Soo useful and answers to some big queries I had although I feel I am fairly knowledgeable in Sl - Torley you always give me a new twist or tip.
HAPPY EASTER and you are the best.

I think more time needs to be spent educating people how to UN-mute. I spend way too much time and effort dealing with people who mute me in some mysterious way (they always swear they never did it), and then complain when their purchase doesn’t arrive.
Not once did you mention that muting an object also mutes the owner. It’s like telling someone how to turn on a chainsaw, but not how to turn it off, it’s disaster in the making.
March 20th, 2008 at 9:03 AM
Every once in awhile, maybe you should make a really advanced tutorial, just for laughs. Like,
How to terraform your new island
How to build a sucessful business
How to run a large club
How to create a unique build
How to build a river
How to script an automatic house boat
How to become a Gorean
How to *pronounce* Gorean
March 20th, 2008 at 9:27 AM
Torley, that one about the beacons may actually come in handy for security rounds. Thank you so much.
March 20th, 2008 at 9:32 AM
what the heck are the linden-students doing?
stop changing things , its a long weekend and someone should call the police to took the students out ofen the company.
March 20th, 2008 at 10:43 AM
Wow! You were busy this week! Thanks Torley!
March 20th, 2008 at 11:16 AM
Great tip Torley, but I’m surprised that you didn’t show people how to disable rendering the ground so they can follow the same method
March 20th, 2008 at 12:24 PM
LMAO at the first video!
March 20th, 2008 at 1:30 PM
Great job Torley! The reward for work well done is….more work!
How about a tutorial on scripts. Like, when one puts the wrong running water script in a sink, then deletes it out of object contents but the script still runs so now the faucet itself moves like a river.
How does one get rid of that?
Not that I’d ever do anything so silly, and I would of course back up my sink before messing with it in the first place. cough cough
March 20th, 2008 at 1:43 PM
[...] Not sure how he does it, but, Torley must love what he’s doing, because he is cranking out video tutorial after video tutorial, this week, he has released 22 more of the quicktips, those 2 minute or less videos that cover the little small things you may have missed, and the little pieces of knowledge that aren’t always passed around from avatar to avatar. Read his post on the Second Life Blog here. [...]

What program are you using to do the videos? ty!
March 20th, 2008 at 4:14 PM
@ 31 Pro-Tip: Shift-copy your de-scripted prim. Many times this will quickly leave you with a duplicate that will not be emitting particles.
March 20th, 2008 at 4:18 PM
@ 33 : See Torley’s step by step process on how he makes each video, and the software he uses in the link below.

omg… Torley. Those last videos in the group were pretty ‘rushed’ through. You talked so quickly it is as if you were late to lunch and wanted to get them over with so you could get out of the office. SLOW DOWN, partner! Even those final videos have useful nublet information to pass along, but not at speed-reading paces.

Hi,
Could You please make one huge movie created from all those mp4 files and make it available for download for us? It would be really nice tutorial for all newbies and good reminder for all existing residens as well.
I see “only” all mp4 as a separate files.
Have fun and stay cool, Best Regards,
shaq
March 21st, 2008 at 10:08 AM
@31: make a script like this -
default {
state_entry() { llParticleSystem([]); }
}
And drop it in the prim that’s running the water, to stop the script. Particle systems are not part of the script, they’re part of the prim the script is in.
March 23rd, 2008 at 7:00 AM
After watching the partnership/divorce video I realized that we don’t get any health care benefits, prim joint insurance,, or a prim pre-nup. (LOL) Keep up the good work Torley!

Dear Space Rockett,
I have reviewed your account and there are two issues here; one is the unclaimed auction 26203869 in Sababurg, and the other is the you received 397000$ Lindens from a fraudulent source.
In both cases you were notified and action was taken.
The unclaimed auction in November 2007 was reclaimed and you were credited with 80% of the winning amount as per policy at that time. When auctioned land is unclaimed it can be put back up for auction as was done in this case.
The 397000$ Lindens acquired by you from a fraudulent source were assessed and removed from your account June 18, 2007.
I apologize for any confusion, though there is no other action that can be taken at this point with either one of these issues.
Sincerely,
Linden Lab
once again your so called “solution” does not solve anything from my point of view, not only is the statement “In both cases you were notified and action was taken” is incorrect you completly failed to be able to view this whole episode fairly.I have on several occassion made it clear that i did not acquire lindens from a fruadulent source, if you accuse me of obtaining lindens in that way I would be interested in knowing who or what is that source,as far as being notified that my land was to be reclaimed, please provide me with the notification as I have not received any such notification to date. Also you have denied me access to my transaction history, you again make the statement “When auctioned land is unclaimed it can be put back up for auction as was done in this case” how much did the land bring at auction ? what is 80% of that amount ? where is the transaction information regarding the sale etc ?
Your apology is meaningless as you have taken my money illegally and you have failed again to put the rights of your customers first.
I will pursue this outside your corrupt and dishonest system.
space.

“Value free expression” ? all you value is money. You take peoples money and give them nothing in return except fake illusion and empty promises now does that sound like a good deal ?I’m sure it does if your a Linden. Value that free expression if you got the time.
