Any way you can get the survey to take more respondents filling up the survey in only a few hours seems like it would not garner very accurate results.

The new blog entry on WindLight has already reached 150 entries, so I'll just post here. The new version 1.18.6 looks fantastic :) ground textures and especially avatars look perfect at every time of day.

Only yetserday I tested the old version, and today all lighting problems are resolved. Great work :) of course some people are still complaining, but don't let that drag you down. Everyone who wants an attractive avatar (and who doesn't?) will be slap-happy with the new lighting settings.

Ok for All you guys whom are crashing out I think I found a workaround for this(least for me hopefully it will work for u)...

Open Prefrences and Leave it open...Log on with it still open. You can close it when ur Rezzed up and Logged on.

For Some odd reason this fixed my Crash at login screen. I noticed that when I opened a window (about SL or Pref. screens) then closed them it would crash out. SO I tryed loggin on with one of them open. And it stayed stable and didnt crash. For some reason it stops crashing like this when they are open.

Afterthought: For many if not most people, Second Life is all about their own avatar. The first thing a new resident does is to play with the appearance menu, then set off to buy a better skin and clothes. I mean, it's only natural that we're most concerned about our own appearance and less about the looks of the clouds or the water.

Perhaps WindLight should first and foremost be avatar-optimized? Right now, they look much less attractive than in the standard viewer. The hard shadows bring out all the unaesthetic parts of the avatar mesh, problem zones like cheekbones and nose. I'd prefer much softer and more evenly lit avatars.
