I had no problems running this new RC... In fact, I was rather oblivious, simply enjoying the fixes and new bits.

Then I installed the Havok beta, tried it out for a half-hour or so, then tried to log back onto the main grid with this new RC. And could not do so properly.

I found myself at 10,10,10 in my home Sim, which for some reason then crashed. I tried to log back in after the region was back up, but still no joy.

As I had not had any problem till I installed the Havok beta, I un-installed it. After it was out of the system, I tried to log in, and was able to do so normally.

I suppose I'd be willing to try a reinstall of the Havok beta to see if the problem re-occurred, but I'm not hot to do so...

Perhaps this might be causing some of these issues?

I still use 1.8.2 and it runs fine but since last week SL has gone on its worsed. Yesterday I had the most worse day with 4 crashes and constantly lag meter in red, fluctuating bandwith meter and very slow rezzing of surroundings and with changing clothing from inventory. Made no difference, almost every sim I had the same problem. Guys concentrate on this problems please before putting in new gadgets and working on voice. Almost a year in SL and the quality has gone worse since every update and certainly since the 1.8 introduction.

Another bug with the new RC viewer, is that when I login in, the big red teleport beacon doesn't disappear. I have to go to map and click on clear to make it disappear.

Dell laptop, Windows XP
network home, McAfee firewall, cable
Time Warner
no idea what you mean by router? modem is Scientific Atlanta WebStar

notable observation:

1. when running the official SL RC, almost complete lack of functionality and high risk of asset damage, forcing a crash to prevent further destruction is usually the best option

2. when running with the Nicholaz patch, "normal" (for SL) behavior, that is, crashes no more than twice a day, tp and money work 80% of the time, 5-minute freezelag lockups at 0.2 fps about 3 times per hour. The only notable deterioration relative to the last release seems to be significantly slower loading of textures, resulting in walking around in a universe of grey slabs and ditto avatars much of the time.

Maybe Linden Labs should think of hiring Nicholaz Beresford :)

Disclaimer: I am not affiliated with Nicholaz in any way (except I send him crash reports every so often), I just use his stuff because it's good :)

"Disable Camera Constraints" is still in the "Client" Menu, maybe you have this menu disabled? See Torley's tip you mentioned on how to get it back.

I have the texture problem too, but the crashes are way more important.

Anybody else tested the ping times (see above) not from within the viewer?

“Disable Camera Constraints” feature has not been removed. Perhaps this is the symptom of another issue?
sounds to me like that particular feature failed to load in your client. (missing content/data?)

Try Clearing your Cache and reloading your client, that should clear that up.

Of the myriad of problems listed above the only one I'm experiencing is the texture "repeats per face" bug where values you enter get erased.

What happened to "Disable Camera Constraints"? Torley recently taught the world about this feature in a "Tip of the week", and now you've removed it. Right Hand/Left Hand problem, LL?
