Cool - looking forward to it

Is the Teen Grid getting anything like this, or have we been forgotten again? You have four handy sims off the coast of Sandbox Island; it’s not too late to convert them
September 24th, 2007 at 3:18 PM
TEEN GRID PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!
September 24th, 2007 at 3:18 PM
Internet Hate Machine has already started trolling.
September 24th, 2007 at 3:23 PM
@Emondrell and Chilko- We just had a Teen Second Life party two weeks ago in response to your posts when we first announced Burning Life 2007 last month.
September 24th, 2007 at 3:24 PM
WHAT?????
WHERE????
DAMN!!!
September 24th, 2007 at 3:25 PM
Really? Are you referring to the end-of-summer pirate party? That was great fun for sure, but we didn’t exactly get to showcase our artistic sides at that - more like throw pies at each other and hunt giant squids
Or maybe I just missed it somehow
September 24th, 2007 at 3:52 PM
Looks interesting. The 25 group limit is a pain in situations like this, I’m fully booked! Will there be information available elsewhere too?
Nice work, I hope it all goes really well.
September 24th, 2007 at 5:11 PM
Bring on the flames!
September 24th, 2007 at 5:14 PM
Tony, keep checking jira.secondlife.com. There are more than a few requests for this online.
September 24th, 2007 at 5:19 PM
HINT
Can’t join the group. I’m subscribed to the max amount of groups and i can’t delete any of them.
September 24th, 2007 at 5:23 PM
If you can’t join the group, you can still get the complete schedule on the website! Just check out http://www.freewebs.com/burninglife2007/index.htm.

Is this going to be a fiasco/joke like the last Burning Life? I seem to recall a beautiful statue being censored and several artists being harassed by the organiser.
September 24th, 2007 at 6:20 PM
Iridium: We’re sorry, the page you are looking for does not exist. Please check the URL and try again.
Grey: That was THIS BL, the guy even started doing a dance infront of people and ignoring them when they were complaining.
September 24th, 2007 at 10:31 PM
The website is http://www.freewebs.com/burninglife2007/index.htm - superfluous dot on the end of the URL.
But that doesn’t matter as everything in SL is borked at present, took me 3 attempts to log in, search down, map not working, profiles not loading, can’t send money, buy anything etc.

Ok its now fixed… odd… but having a look round, you do realise that the land is all set up with build and autoreturn off?
Griefers paradise, and a dozen regions to do it in. Nice one.

I know its off subject but why you use freewebs? so lame. get a account with freewebtown.com. way better. lol
September 25th, 2007 at 1:28 AM
Or Run a webserver like me with all cool tools and abiltys. lol
September 25th, 2007 at 3:10 AM
@12 Iridium..oops that link goes to a ‘can’t find that page’ page…
September 25th, 2007 at 5:03 AM
Boycot that stuff!
Who wants to join in such a project when it’s going to be censored anyway?
And great job Iridium for not even telling people WHERE it is. That surely helps keeping people away from it.
September 25th, 2007 at 5:43 AM
Oh great, teen grid forgotten again.
September 25th, 2007 at 7:25 AM
Burning Man > Burning Life
September 25th, 2007 at 7:34 AM
Hello, freewebs is being used as it was suitable for that time and the link on the message of the day was incorrect but thats all fixed now, and you can view the site it is working.
The site is http://www.freewebs.com/burninglife2007/index.htm
That is a correct URL
September 25th, 2007 at 8:20 AM
I’ll just bite my tongue with regard to the negative commentary already polluting this post.. and believe me it’s difficult.
THANK you, Iridium, and everyone else who has worked their tails off, despite a few rough spots, to make Burning Life happen. There is some great stuff out there, and it will truly be a pleasure to get out and take it all in.

I went to check it out. The lag was nearly unbearable in the section I was in. Continued to get worse and worse for my friend and I until she crashed out and I just relogged to home. She came back in with the UI on her instead of clothes textures. She had to dump cache and relogg a few times before she got straightened out.
Purely from a PR standpoint one would think an LL sponsored showcase event would feature the best running sims in SL. Sadly though that did not seem to be the case, and like so many other things that sound like neat things to go see and do my friend and I will likely not return due to our experiance there.
September 25th, 2007 at 10:16 AM
@Juliet, the event is at all 22 of the Burning Life sims! Just type Burning Life into the search field of your map and you’ll see the estate come up. Also, I checked all of the links. They worked for me!
September 25th, 2007 at 10:27 AM
Iridium there’s a full stop at the end of your link that stops it working
Thanks to Broccoli for pointing this out.
September 25th, 2007 at 10:36 AM
@Tony, if you’re talking about the link in my earlier comment, ack! Thanks for the heads up. That link and the Burning Life Festivities link in the first sentence of my post direct you to the same place.
September 25th, 2007 at 11:11 AM
Hi Iridium it was the link in your comment I meant
No wonder you wondered what everyone was talking about when the links in your original post work fine!
September 25th, 2007 at 11:36 AM
Why not call it “Broken Life” or “Censored Life” instead?
“Laggy Hell” would be pretty fitting, too…
September 25th, 2007 at 1:10 PM
Burning Life got spam attacked round 1:00 PDT. Might have been earlier but that is when I discovered it.
September 25th, 2007 at 1:17 PM
Would have been clever to turn off build rights for anyone (all the “art” there is set to group anyway…).
That way that griefer attack would have not happened… but meh. Hats off to Iridium and the people who are responsible for managing this … whatever it is. You obviously don’t have a clue about how to manage things. As usual.
September 25th, 2007 at 1:22 PM
Today I brought a RL client to Burning Life who was interested in investing in the future - a future in which we express our creativity and engage with each other and our visions for something better, something different, something we believe in, but instead teleported them into the middle of a massive grief attack on Burning Life. This is the same grief attack that has been going on for weeks. The same one I have reported 8 times from 8 separate instances. My client was not only thus unconvinced that SL is a stable platform for creative expression, she was DISGUSTED. What disgusts me is that this has been going on for a considerable length of time and our friends have expressed no sense of urgency, replied to none of my tickets nor my friends, and have told mentors to no longer bring up the grief attacks as a topic for discussion.
Well done.

Plagerism at it’s finest, that’s Linden Labs
September 25th, 2007 at 2:56 PM
Seems pretty cool when I visited except its getting slammed by particle spammers, and replicators, and animation spammers. From the sounds of it many people have filed abuse reports, and it is continuing to happen. Its going to be a griefer fest.
September 26th, 2007 at 12:07 AM
Well of course it’s a griefer fest if you let everyone build and run scripts on the land. If they’d turn that off as well as object entry (in case they forgot it at one sim…lol) the whole thing should be somewhat bearable.
But no, neither did they learn from the past, nor are they reading this blog and you bet they won’t actually DO anything about this although it’d take them a few minutes to deal with this.
Embarrassing…
September 26th, 2007 at 3:10 AM
I visited the BL sims yesterday, I managed to enjoy some of the audio on the music streams, but visually I was bombarded with some pretty gross particles. I never did understand why people troll and grief, but i guess its all part of the ‘internet experience’. Unfortunatly all the particles and anim permission requesters killed it for me. Is this gonna get sorted out, because I really do want to check out the art builds? It must be really upsetting for the organisers, and the comments here are..well..pretty harsh. To the Organisers - Good luck for the rest of the week, and I hope you figure out a neat way to stop the idiots. To the griefers - get a secondlife.
September 26th, 2007 at 7:23 AM
I tried on many occasions to visit the burning life regions, but they were all lagging so bad i could not even move, its a shame this game is becoming so unplayable due to lag and missing inventory items and other nonsense that doesn’t seem to be being addressed, I wonder what else wont work today after the update is done.?
September 26th, 2007 at 7:24 AM
What a depressing mess Burning Life is this year, such a waste. The spam textures and insufferable lag make it impossible to enjoy the admitedly very few decent builds there. I managed to get the name of the owner of the object spawning the textures and sent a report with snapshot but the same texture has been seen all over the grid for weeks and nothing has been done about it.

September 26th, 2007 at 10:48 AM
So just an update on the particle spamming some of you have mentioned here–Resident organizers have restricted build and object entry on the Burning Life sims. If however, you do see someone griefing the BL sims, please file abuse and inform any one of the many Resident organizers patrolling the playa. You should be able to enjoy the event from here on out sans those obnoxious particles.
If you’d like to offer the Burning Life team (including me) feedback on this year’s event, by all means direct your comments to http://www.freewebs.com/burninglife2007/index.htm where they can be viewed and absorbed by all parties involved in planning BL this year. Resident organizers and volunteers have worked tirelessly on this event and are open to your comments, provided they are constructive and have the best interests of the community in mind.

hi all, i’ll be trying to stop by burning life to talk about religious experience in SL for a research project i’m doing (i’m a RL professor of religious studies). i’d love to hear what you think about experiencing the sacred in SL.
if you could, i would also be _ever_ so grateful if you would take the following super-quick (< 5 minute) survey on SL and religion.
http://www.questionpro.com/akira/TakeSurvey?id=737260
thanks so much. and see you in SL.

if all music streams were 96kbps rather then the normal 128 or 160 the sim could be more stable in one way or another
