sounds cool… but might need a little explanation on what machinima is …

From the linked to site:
“Machinima (pronounced ma-shin-i-ma). Making movies with videogames, the word being an amalgamation of machine cinema. A fusion of film-making and gaming, which is increasingly being used as one of the quickest and most cost-effective ways of creating animation, has a rapidly growing following, fuelled in part by the enhanced visual quality of many of the most popular computer games.”
Didn’t have a clue before looking it up.

They are movies made in SL.

Yeah, too bad the movie capture thingy (under the file menu) doesn’t work under Linux! Though I understand there are other ways of doing it. Linux users tend to be creative at finding ways! Anyway, my computer’s too slow for machinima… and neither do I live in Europe. But I’m sure we’ll see some cool results!

I am writing about the previous identity verification blog, basically it says that if I have land that is in a mature area I will lose most of my business because I have a feeling very few people will want to participate, also I wonder whether I will be allowed to use my own land anymore because I certainly don’t want to give you and the government any more information about me-there are pornography sites that do not require ID and gambling sites too on the web, I think Linden is ruining our personal freedom in this game and it is certainly going to ruin a lot of people’s business, about the events and other stuff you are planning I no longer care. Linden has become no better than a 3rd world dictatorship.

This is regarding last post.
(Since we cant comment anymore)
My rants…
- PORN SITES use credit cards for age verification, and you check to make sure you are 18+ and agree to their terms before entering.
- Not everyone has a Social Security #
- People will lose business, (specially pixel sex stores, that sell furniture, skins, poses, animations)
Nobody will want to put information, so they cant enter to purchase.
- Your world, your imagination slogan has lived its time.
- LL is losing business, because people are leaving.
Why go through all of this, make your customers angry and lose business, when all you have to do is put in the TOS…
that LL is not responsable for any actions that the residents do…
But will comply with any RL investigation that takes place.

Machinima is a video which made in a virtual environment, Second Life is only one of those.

For linux use “RecordMyDesktop”, That is one of the better ones I have found. It will dump it all into an OGG Thera file when it is done and the frame rate is very acceptable.

The hud cleaning (aka ctrl+alt+1 but that depends on) is not working in the latest voice client.

sorry, this is off topic as comments were closed already on blog ‘Identity Verification Comes to Second Life’ and as an European I had not the chance to react quickly enough to that post….
But this must be said before I explode!
I absolutely agree to ‘what is a verification worth if a child can take his parents passport, social ID or whatsoever number for age verification’. Consequently, the age verification is worth nothing!
I absolutely agree to ‘what third party ist that, give us more details about that third party’, release their terms and conditions of the agreement they have with LL.
I absolutely agree that outside the US things may be different. LL your customers are not all linving in the US.
I absolutely agree that one can have access to adult content in the internet very easily without age verification, a CC is usually enough - so why should this be different in SL?
I fear that you may loose lots of members if you do not reconsider this whole process. I myself felt a little better the last days about SL, but LL, you always manage to bring my empathy down again towards quitting the game.
Finally, just send me a first class ticket to San Francisco, a nice hotel for a night ***** and some travel expenses ans I’ll show up in your REAL LIFE to verify myself.
Best regards,
Pantaiputih

Might be interesting if the Machinima entires would be about the identity verification. Show to everybody what u think about it. Wouldn’t lots of people be interested in seeing such entries?
Maybe the lindens could make a Machinima, that shows exactly how this identification process works. It should be a detailed description though. Those Machinima made by lindens, might become quite popular. Wouldn’t they?
p.s.
i hope my post won’t be removed.

And would someone please explain to me about this identity thieves? I’m sure there’s no such thing as that. Now lessee….you need my full name, my birthdate, my age, my gender, my passport#, my ID#, my blood type, my urine sample, my dog’s name…or is that my dog’s full name? A comment about MACHINIMA…..
There is a COOL machinima entry made in SL in the Bourne Identity competition:
http://www.machinima.com/bourne/finalists
The SL made one is the one made by “TV Poker” - it is really amazing - every part of the sets hand built, as opposed to the ones made by the others - check it out - and VOTE !
