Second Life scheduled maintenance - Complete!
Wednesday, June 6th, 2007 at 7:04 AM by: Joshua LindenSecond Life is currently closed for scheduled maintenance, 7am-9am PDT (14:00-16:00 GMT) We’re doing some database configuration work and other quick operations we need to perform while the grid is empty.
This is NOT a server software update, and NO new viewer download is required.
I’ll try to post updates as things progress, but I’ll be busy with some of the work myself. We’ll try to open up again as quickly as possible.
[Update: 8:00am PDT] - We’re done with the bulk of the work, which addresses these issues:
- VWR-830 Muting Residents andor Objects does not work reliably
- MISC-157 Searching for groups fails with certain keywords
We’re doing final verification now. At the same time, a little more work is being done on other parts of the service. I expect we’ll be opening up ahead of schedule.
[Update: 8:45am PDT] - We’re open! Thank you for your patience.

June 6th, 2007 at 7:06 AM
I hope your operations on the Data base won’t corrupt our inventories?
It’s a nightmare when it happens! Do a good job Lindens ^-^
June 6th, 2007 at 7:07 AM
Does this maintenance include telling us why we had to change passwords, and why LL won’t acknowledge support tickets? hmmm
June 6th, 2007 at 7:07 AM
Thanks for the initial info, Joshua - does help to know at the beginning! GL to all at Linden Labs for a smooth ride!
June 6th, 2007 at 7:10 AM
Hope you will have a smooth maitenance.. I was surprised about the short time the grid will be down. Hope there will be no problems!
Good luck Lindens!
June 6th, 2007 at 7:10 AM
Is anyone else having the same problem I am its telling me to reset my password but it wont
June 6th, 2007 at 7:11 AM
way back in 2005 I used to love being able to fly all over SL but then home security systems became popular and now you can hardly move 30m before hitting an invisible wall..Would it be possible for the Linden scientists to create a sky highway? Maybe at 100M to 150M. Then people could travel freely..I cant even move around my own sim to look at other properties for sale..Thanks Solari
June 6th, 2007 at 7:12 AM
Ok, haber si lo arreglais pronto que me estaba forrando xD
June 6th, 2007 at 7:13 AM
Hopefully will not crash after re-opening…
June 6th, 2007 at 7:13 AM
but Im allowed in the Beta version with my old password so if anyone could help it would be great
June 6th, 2007 at 7:16 AM
Why is the Grid still showing the “Online” sign when actually the grid is closed for maintenance. And this time the warning of closing the grid could be more significant, it totally got overshadowed by Sculpties and other issues. But after all I think you do a great job Lindens, not easy to handle such a fast growing society. Good luck
June 6th, 2007 at 7:17 AM
Just so you know, 7-9 am PDT is actually 3-5 pm GMT. Our clocks go forward too and we are still 8 hours ahead of you!
June 6th, 2007 at 7:18 AM
#4 I had the same problem for some odd reason, and i use a 14 letter number combo password. Have used same one for over a year on sl on all 3 of my accts only 1 got locked out. I had to click the forgot password thing do the security question, got the email for password reset that worked so maybe try doing that.
As for this password reset BS let one of my other accts get locked out and that will be straw that broke camels back. Seems paying customers donot matter in anyway anymore just the free customers. Who do absalutely nothing for the community except lag us paying people to death. i have already let one of my accts goto -usd since LL so stupid not to recognise the same CC i have used for a year and never changed i will never change it they fix it or dont get paid.
June 6th, 2007 at 7:18 AM
Good luck Lindens! *runs to Linden Lab’s offices and puts lucky charms on servers and employees* ^.^
June 6th, 2007 at 7:18 AM
@ 4 Candy Herouin
With all the recent posts about this issue, one would assume that this maintenance time will correct password problems, we’ll see in two hours time, or maybe three…
…or maybe…
June 6th, 2007 at 7:19 AM
Still having issues trying to change my password Can anyone help

Good luck Lindens, and thanks for the header Joshua.
I really hope this doesnt bring along another grid crash or major lag but eh,
Do your best- and try not to kill the grid in the process….
Good luck!,
Desereck

Just in case you’re all looking for something to do to break those grid down Whinersday blues (or just fill the couple of hours?!?), why not come say hello at the - totally UNofficial - Whinersday club? Find us at http://gabbly.com/http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Whinesday
June 6th, 2007 at 7:26 AM
still no mention about the lack of payment of stipends glitch, so I think I’ll mention it
June 6th, 2007 at 7:27 AM
Ever even briefly consider moving to a more robust database? There seems to be a meme deeply rooted within Linden Labs that maintenance and upgrades simply must require downtime.
Out here in the rest of the world, we’ve been doing very heavy maintenance on enormous and complicated database applications, even with tens of thousands of simultaneous connections, with no downtime at all. And I know that robust database software is expensive.
But you have the money. Just pay for it will you please?
June 6th, 2007 at 7:28 AM
had the same problem i had to phone the help line to reset password
June 6th, 2007 at 7:29 AM
wonderfull, all of 3 and a half minuts notice that the grid is gona be down for maintenance…brilliant
June 6th, 2007 at 7:30 AM
re: @ 6 Hamish Stuart
FWIW, if there’s anything ominous, it’s that the planned update to the viewer was canceled to conduct additional testing, and be rolled out in another week.
Still, I would much rather an update get postponed than have LL issue an update that only adds more problems. Glad they caught the problems before jumping in and issuing the update. Especially with all the reports of password problems.
It can’t be easy.
June 6th, 2007 at 7:30 AM
looks like theres a few people here….migth as well be a live chat applet here
June 6th, 2007 at 7:30 AM
Why does it always have to be during the day when i want to go on, Im in England so its really annoying next time do it earlier or later.
June 6th, 2007 at 7:31 AM
Does this mean that my stipend–due yesterday!–will finally be credited? Has anyone else got their’s yet? What’s going on with this?
June 6th, 2007 at 7:31 AM
Will this resolve that new issue where my “muted” list gets reset every time I log in? (hint, hint)
June 6th, 2007 at 7:31 AM
How do you know that you are a Second Life Addict?
June 6th, 2007 at 7:31 AM
@7 Julie: GMT doesn’t change, in the UK we just shift to BST - PST is GMT-0800, but PDT is GMT-0700, just as BST is GMT+0100, so 7am PDT = 2pm GMT is right!
June 6th, 2007 at 7:32 AM
NO!!!!! DONT OFFER TO TAKE THE WHINERS AWAY TO ANOTHER SITE!!!! This is our entertainment while the grid is down!!!!!
WHINERS - KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK! WE LOVE YOU!
June 6th, 2007 at 7:34 AM
When I try to reset my password I cant get to the page to reset it. It says that there is an error and sometimes it says cant find page…Please help me..
June 6th, 2007 at 7:34 AM
ai hope its go good!
June 6th, 2007 at 7:35 AM
This is just a note … and this really does need a comment. Those who complain whether the service is free or not, and whether or not they are paying or not, is inconsequential given the dynamic of people involved. And if one must also address this, then so be it … it is those very same “free” accounts who actually and without any doubt make up a good portion of the funding that is provided in world. This is the very reason why sims try to appeal to them with money trees, camping chairs, because they understand this. Its not a “hey lets give stuff away”. They figure the more people they draw in the more others will come. And primarily its those “free” accounts that do this. On my sim this is very much the case. Without the large draw on “free” accounts into my sim it would not have gotten as much attention. Additionally it does get annoying when others complain, or start drama … we all are intelligent(i hope). And can form and rationalize behaviors that are more appropriate. Be glad there is an SL to begin with. And if it displeases you from A-Z reasons. Then maybe it is best you find some other activity in which to engage on. SL is very massive. The team of SL can only do so much … and none of them are gods in their own right. In the end they are still human, and humans make errors, mess things up, and so forth. If such errors bother you file a bug report and wait. It helps nothing and no one to continually complain about an issue they are aware of. And also understand its not being ignored. Points to above that LL employees are not god. Even fixes they do may mess things up. This is true in all things wether SL or outside it. If the sun shines in your eyes brightly in the morning, do you write hate mail to God for waking you up continuously?
June 6th, 2007 at 7:35 AM
Boo Hoo, Sniff Sniff
Two hours…..
Too long!
June 6th, 2007 at 7:36 AM
O Dear yoyr only down for 2 hours come on linden surely you could make us suffer as usual by keeping the system down for 6 hours.
best of luck with whatever you are doing and thanks for a great what ever it is
June 6th, 2007 at 7:36 AM
since LL wont post it i’ll post it.. cause im sure there’s still people out there like me that can’t even get to the “reset password” page as it redircts you to a support page that stats “we are sorry we can not proccess your request” and the phone number is so busy waiting 30 mins for a voice recording to state “no reps available” and hangs up on you.. so here’s what REALLY happened to the passwords…… and no it wasnt as stated on the login page when you first discovered your password was bad
“Robin Linden: some passwords were reset because of a glitch in the support system”
June 6th, 2007 at 7:36 AM
everytime i go on the site my pc crashes into safe mode and freezes it aint much fun why is this?
June 6th, 2007 at 7:37 AM
Good luck with the update.
If a Linden would please post answers to those who’ve resorted to blog comments on the following, it would be a good step in improving communication (which it would seem the majority of residents view as lacking):
1. Password reset issues - What is the correct and up-to-date method of resetting for those who have problems.
2. Late stipends - Why are some late and not others, and are they forthcoming?
I, myself, am not having any of the above issues, but I sympathize with those who are.
Responses of an official nature (even “We are looking into it, you can expect an update on this issue shortly after the grid maintenance” I’m sure would be a welcome notice).
Hope things go smoothly today.

June 6th, 2007 at 7:39 AM
Hi, Lindens! Congratulations on the great job you’ve been doing’ However, there is one thing that really gets to my nerves here…why is it that every time I throw a party I cannot manage to send IM’s through groups? It is one of the best ways to tell people something is going on when they’re online…you know…all group members and stuff…but it rarely works…why is that so, mates?
Thanks!
June 6th, 2007 at 7:39 AM
GL lindens- dont mess up the grid, lol, and hopefully this wont destroy the use of our inventory’s, the lagging of the grid, the causing of sign in problems, ect, ect, ect, maybe i should just shut up now, but at least i relize that tryin to run this huge project we call Second Life is hard! well GL
June 6th, 2007 at 7:41 AM
i have never goten thouigh on the linden hotline….ever…theres never eny reps available day or night. i had to get live support…”WHEN THIS FEATURE WAS AVAILABLE!!!! HINT HINT!!!” that was th eonly way i coulf fix my password and now its looks like its hapening to other people but live suport is nonger available i world…..”george just unlucky i guess” whoever cant login cause password issues….good luck contacting a linden its near impossible 30 min wait on the phone then ya hung up on…its a real good service THUMBS UP!.
June 6th, 2007 at 7:42 AM
Best of luck LL. Thank You for holding off the new viewer untill it is proven.
Please let us know what is happening with passwords and stipend. Silence here is making us very nervous.
As i am a paying menber(195usd tier) i woudl like to log in and provide my customers the level of service I like to provide……hopes you understand, but doubts it.
Please comunicate problems with your customers. Dont try to distract us with shiny things. i find that very insulting.
Thanks to all the members here for helping each other. As, sadly we have to be our own customer suport.
/me looks worried
DDD
June 6th, 2007 at 7:44 AM
Just thought I’d let you know, why did you risk our inventories from being cleared and make us put up with lag for the next 2 days. If there was anything wrong, please tell us because I saw nothing wrong
June 6th, 2007 at 7:44 AM
well maybe i was lucky took me all of two minutes to sort out when i phoned last night 10pm gmt
June 6th, 2007 at 7:44 AM
@7 GMT == UTC is not British local time. All time zones are stated as an offset from UTC
@22 There was a Notice posted last week, and an update earlier this week.
I am concerned about creeping features with many still outstanding serious bugs. Having said that I’ve found that Sl is more stable in the past 3 weeks that it’s been since 1/2007, so clearly progress is being made. The grid seems to be working fairly well even with 40K+ people logged on. I do wish however that the Lindens would concern themselves more with the paying customers, and lavish less resources on the freeloaders.
June 6th, 2007 at 7:44 AM
Candy Herouin,
after you send the thing for forgot password there is a page that comes up that says
your instruction on how to change your password …………………………. look at the end of the thing and there should be somthign that says somthing like E-mail changed click here
click on it and it shoujld take you to were you can reset your password
June 6th, 2007 at 7:45 AM
Please, please, PLEASE fix the Friends list with this maintenance! I’m sick of IMing everyone when I log on just to make sure they’re really offline!
June 6th, 2007 at 7:45 AM
14.00 to 16.00 GMT but uk is on british summer time which is 15.00-17.00 ok
June 6th, 2007 at 7:45 AM
I totally sgree with Deandra (29)….I am not having pass words or stipend issues, but the silence from Linden Labs is deafening and they need to address them quickly, or I will stop recommending Second Life to my friends.
Neesha
June 6th, 2007 at 7:46 AM
well this is great!!! i had things to do on sl and we wernt told before hand but i gues it cant be helped so i hope it goes well but i think linden needs to sort it out as sl is always having problems and they say they are going to introduce age verification, well thats going to be a cock up too if you ask me!!!
June 6th, 2007 at 7:46 AM
To react on the password issues, think about non us people for once. We have to pay allot of money to call to the US. If a glitch or whatever screws up the password of users, you might wanna open up a chat function or a online support in world to help out.
We’re not the ones asking for these problems and not causing it either.
Missed change if you ask me, hope that support is gonna help me out without a phone, which i simply can’t afford.
June 6th, 2007 at 7:47 AM
“our office hours are from 9am to 5pm, if you cant log on…take a pill and have a lie down for several hours, our respresentatives will be with you shortly”
June 6th, 2007 at 7:47 AM
Say What!????? 7:47am and the grid showing ONLINE!!!
June 6th, 2007 at 7:47 AM

June 6th, 2007 at 7:48 AM

NO!!!!! DONT OFFER TO TAKE THE WHINERS AWAY TO ANOTHER SITE!!!! This is our entertainment while the grid is down!!!!!
WHINERS - IT’S YOUR WHINING THAT GIVES NEEDED INFORMATION - WHICH MAKES SL A BETTER PLACE FOR ALL OF US! KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK! WE LOVE YOU!
June 6th, 2007 at 7:48 AM
Hey Lindens! I can appreciate the need for downtime and know that you intend for it to provide a better experience for the residents. Being in IT, I realize that you can’t keep everyone happy even if it’s for their own good. You have my support! SL is a fantastic experience that you make available to us. Thanks.
June 6th, 2007 at 7:49 AM
some crap about not payin enough attention
June 6th, 2007 at 7:49 AM
#7 .. Julie.. LL is correct with their GMT time.. UK is currently on BST (GMT+1)
June 6th, 2007 at 7:49 AM
shouldnt you close the comments as this seems the only way we can ever contact you at the lab, and i know thta you really don like us tell you our problem. never received back my lost inventory and given up every getting it. bug report was filed only reply was it was being looked into. today bought a rezzing vender 1500L$ down the toilet as it was never received. i know its a little matter to you but it isn’t to me
June 6th, 2007 at 7:50 AM
Hey! Yeah, I didn’t get my 500L either! What the business is? Ugh!
June 6th, 2007 at 7:50 AM
Grumble. Random aspersions about competance. Grudging acceptance.
June 6th, 2007 at 7:50 AM
@32 - its no cake walk hehe though i bet you they drink alot of coffee heh
@28 (add) - just a side note really. paid companies do the very same process of complaint, in relation to free softwares. However as in the above dynamic the same is true for free. Everyone would rather use a free product that enables the same capacity of features, as to that of the paid. This enables also businesses to earn more in the long run without these fees. Which is essentially what you see in world, alot of us either develop and open source our code or use it and modify it. So that it enables us to sell or make our sim experience a better one. Now if there wasnt this nce idea of open source and you had to pay for everything. Then the given concept would be you either would have to 1)buy one that does what you need 2)code it yourself. So really free is such a wonderful and giving thing. Whether its basing itself on free accounts to paid or to that of anything else. This is why hotmail does it, this is why yahoo does it, this is why most smart companies do it. Because enabling of free accounts actually does bring in money in different ways other than the sign up cost, etc. Maybe coders on SL that open source should start locking their code and just selling it, and the concept of modding and using a product for your needs would be gone as well. In this i will just close in saying … cant we all just get along without being at each others throats or even at SL’s. Be glad its here. Be glad things are free. Just be glad *offers tons of cookies to complainers* Now go sit in the corner and drink your milk =)
June 6th, 2007 at 7:51 AM
is it possibile to count visitors to my structure in SL?
June 6th, 2007 at 7:53 AM
Hmmm… the main grid’s down for maintenance. Guess I’ll do my bit to exercise the beta SL client… no, wait, I can’t, because two days after we were assured it would be available for download, the Linux beta client still isn’t available.
June 6th, 2007 at 7:54 AM

June 6th, 2007 at 7:59 AM
Ya know, I do feel sorry for those that have experienced problems, but look at it this way. You would have never experienced those problems had someone not decided to start the whole SL thing? Give the guys a break, let them fix whatever is wrong, and enjoy it.
June 6th, 2007 at 7:59 AM
Thanks. At least I have time to update my blog on Second Life.
June 6th, 2007 at 8:00 AM
William fish read my #34
June 6th, 2007 at 8:00 AM
@47 - Things happens sometimes very undesired ones. However do the best you can to report the issue. It is all i can say. its the same i tell all my customers of my software outside of SL. when something like this happens really its hard to track, because on your side you may be telling the truth etc, but on the other a company has to verify that you are telling the truth. So supplying data to this proof is essential in recovery. And anytime i’ve lost money, and I have in SL before I have received it back. One happened about a few weeks ago at slboutiqye.com when i went to withdraw 7,000L, it just went *poof*. However, keeping rational and call is key. The money took time to be returned, but it was.
June 6th, 2007 at 8:02 AM
@50 - *calm not call *lol* ok even in the morning some people can’t type
June 6th, 2007 at 8:03 AM
also if you are having password problems read my #34
June 6th, 2007 at 8:03 AM
I was wounding if SL has ever considered a “SL-lite” that would allow people with out the full requirements, system wise, to get a taste of SL. I know from my own experience in HTML chat, that there are thousands of people out there that would steep-up once they got a bit of a feel for SL.
This experience is so different that when trying to explain it, it frankly sounds to good to be true.
Just a thought
June 6th, 2007 at 8:03 AM
Candy! If you’re still having password trouble it’s cos the lindens advice is hopelessly misleading. You won’t find the security question on the change password page (which their message implies), but have to go to the support system, hon: https://support.secondlife.com/ics/support/security.asp
There you’ll find a link for those who have forgotten their passwords (or had it corrupted by the lindens) and if you follow it, hon, you’ll be back online toot sweet. Good luck!
June 6th, 2007 at 8:03 AM
Yes, it is should be time for maintenance. I had several problems like logging in with missing clothes and hair! My friends have similar problems. Thanks Second Life for all the fun you provide and much dreams and entertainment to us.
June 6th, 2007 at 8:04 AM
That’s right, make a note of that GMT is not the same as UK time
GMT doesn’t apply summer time.
June 6th, 2007 at 8:04 AM
Hey Lindidiots, your times are all out. It should be 15.00-17.00 GMT. Sort it!
June 6th, 2007 at 8:04 AM
Hey Lindens, Love ya, but could you please fix the problem with Group IM’s. It’s so annoying to be closing the window over and over and over. And is anyone else suffering horrible lag since this last update?
June 6th, 2007 at 8:05 AM
lol hmm I see so many people complaining about the warning of the GRID down time.. if you’ll notice your screen at login it’s said for about three days or more that this would be taking place today, so there was a fair warning :)) I hope this doesn’t cause another big Lag fest too hehe :)) Take Care SLians!
June 6th, 2007 at 8:07 AM
wow william, you got a response to your ticket… I didnt :/
if the stipend goes along with the less than adequate support, why am I paying for a premium account?
June 6th, 2007 at 8:07 AM
Just wanted to say thank you for working so hard to provide so much for so many.
June 6th, 2007 at 8:07 AM
#22: It was posted a week ago that the grid would be down today for a viewer update, and was posted yesterday that that was changed to maintenance.
June 6th, 2007 at 8:10 AM
Come on, im so bored
June 6th, 2007 at 8:11 AM
To Julie Apocalypse: I am a very pedantic person and would like to point out that GMT does not change with daylight saving time. Summer time in the UK is therefore not GMT but BST (British Summer Time) which is GMT+1. So when the Lindens say 14:00-16:00 GMT they are correct - you just have to do the maths and realise that means 15:00-17:00 BST.
June 6th, 2007 at 8:13 AM
Im Sorry To Say This People But Kinda Take A break From Second Life Go To The Mall, Help Your Kid’s, Go To The Gym Second Life Is Just A Game A Real Fun Game But Maybe Exercise For The Updates To Be Ready Don’t Spen The Rest Of Your Life On This Game.

June 6th, 2007 at 8:14 AM
So why do you all have to be so mean to LL for? They’re down for scheduled maintenance, you know when the scheduled maintenance is, they’re ahead of schedule today and all you can do is grief them. The people who are doing the scheduled maintenance are not the same people who you need to talk to about a lost rezzing vendor, or about password resets, or about some enhancement that’s wanted.
You want to complain about the particular times they picked to do the scheduled maintenance? Good complaint. You want to complain that its too often, or takes too long, or that they don’t apparently have a high quality test and backout system for the updates (because usually they break something else and it takes hours longer than advertized to get running)? Great! But if its not related to scheduled maintenance, take it somewhere else because bottom line:
—–> They’re not listening!
June 6th, 2007 at 8:14 AM

There were no five minute warnings this time. Would have been nice, so I could take off my attachments. Anything Im was wearing before 1.15 were borked when I got back on the grid after your inv loss “fixes” then. Please make sure everything is backed up and no data lost if you’re messing with databases.
I know your Director of Operations doesn’t think dbs are all that important, but the rest of the planet does…
@ 7 Julie Apocalypse - no GMT never changes, it stays the same. What you are now on is British Summer Time, which is one hour ahead of GMT currently.

very good… hope you do a rolling restart in the process to clear out some wild scripts that got broken in a bug introduced in the last viewer
OH! And you completely changes the Island transfer requesting process. Okay - figured out how to make the island transfer request in the new support web site. BUT - it’s still sitting on ‘New’ status.
How long before you (LL) acknowledge that the request has been made and then I know it is in queue???
Thanks LL - keep up the effort.

@34 If you bring up your friends’ profiles, you should get a more accurate result on their online status.

@52 if you don’t own land there is no reason to have a premium account. If you do then its understood. Now if you can easily sell such land, and revert to free. Then do so. Enjoy yourself =). P.S. on side note I am one programmer and i get thousands of emails … even my automation system can only do so much. Now take this into consideration on how many lindens there are to handle responses to that of actual users. And you will also understand that any request, issue, and so forth can and will take time. Sometimes very long, sometimes short. However, im sure they try to reply as fast as they can, as I do with my users. And yes my products are either open source or paid. The very same comment you made can be directed toward users of my paid products. However, you can also understand that not everything gets responded to in the timely manner the requester wishes. And if it doesnt get responded to within a long time frame … say 1-2 weeks (give or take on the given staff that can reply). Then be a little more assertive .. etc.

Hey LL, could you please just sell to a company that cares about customer service? It’s pretty clear that you’re going for acquisition by your refusal to pay for new hardware or the high salary for qualified engineers, but come on already. Even Microsoft would be fine at this point; they couldn’t make the viewer or server software any worse, and at least they answer the phone.

@ 7 It’s funny to see that we do not have the same GMT
June 6th, 2007 at 8:17 AM
Guys! For cryin’ out loud! It’s SECOND Life that’s down for maintenance, not REAL Life. Give it a rest! At least if you get kicked out of SL you can get back in lol. Take a freakin’ chill pill.
Lindens, you’re doin’ fine.

the average turnaround time for high priority problems seems to be 14 days. and the software seems to be fantastically buggy so by the time someone finally reads it, it probably won’t have any details anyway..
evil person that i am suggests you just keep raising a new ticket each day. The service is so rubbish that blowing their stats out is not really here nor there now -but it is an interesting way to remind them of their obligations to their paying customers.. just log a new ticket and refer to the old ones.. may also give the help desk a bit more ammunition to help justify more resources/people who can read or whatever the problem is that makes them unable to respond as they should.
after all, in the real business world, the service level agreement for resolution of a paying customer not being able to access their account would be somewhere between 4 - 24hrs - not 14 days before they think about getting around to it and emailing you to ask what the trouble is.

Hey thanks for removing my other comment by the way, Moderator. At least read that last all the way through before you remove it, could you? Far more offensive than what I’ve written has gotten through in this comment forum.

I would love nothing more then to take the “password glitch” else where.. problem is… WHERE? and dont tell me to log in to use the forums. THE REAL PROBLEM #50 is that (and one day it will happen to you) random acts of “glitchs” that paralize your enjoyment of SL and all that you as a paid member (or me in this case) have invested in. I run a mall… it needs my daily attention… i’ve had to tell my merchants to wait, tell my guest to wait.. tell my customers to wait… why? because LL wont address this problem and… well… give us a place to “complain” about it as you so tactfully wrote.

@50 Because it’s kinda our way of saying “Thanks!”

I haven´t logged in for 2 days and now I can not log in with my premium acc on the website. Is there some reason I cant log in on the website with my premium acc all of a sudden? Does this have anythong to do with the DB update? I have seen other users having problems with login issues in comments on other blogposts. Anyone know whats goin on?
June 6th, 2007 at 8:21 AM

June 6th, 2007 at 8:22 AM

THANK YOU so much for the positive advice that we can use…. being the evil fish that i am
June 6th, 2007 at 8:22 AM
I wish all you guys would stop moaning at the great work done here by the lindens.
You all have computers and can’t tell me they never give you any problems.
Second life is a great place to be to make new friends and gain new experiences.
STOP moaning and accept that any web based program will have issues

As several other people have noted, I have not yet received my stipend as of this writing. This is especially puzzling, as my other premium accounts (yes I am one of these ridiculously honest people who pay for their alts) have received their stipends. I have not had any problems with my passwords (knock on wood), however I have another, possibly related cause for concern.
Lately I have been orbited several times in-world, and when I check Bumps, Pushes, & Hits, it tells me I have been hit with a scripted object by *Governor Linden*
Two choices:
1. Governor Linden is now griefing his own residents.
2. Some sicko has hacked SL and taken control of Governor Linden’s account to grief people.
Option 2 may have some bearing on the fact that LL has been remarkably silent on the password issue. If God has been possessed by the devil, what do you expect the angels to do?
Am I the only one who finds this slightly scary?
