Extended hours for Concierge phone lines

Monday, May 7th, 2007 at 2:45 PM by: Jack Linden

The concierge team is pleased to announce that from tomorrow morning (8th May 2007) the concierge phone line will be open from 1am SL Time (9am GMT) all the way through until 6pm SL Time (2am GMT). Initially this is for weekdays only.

As soon as we can, we will further extend these hours and add cover across weekends to provide 24/7 telephone support for concierge level customers.

[Please note: Concierge level support is available only to residents that are paying half a region in tier fees per month or more (32k meters or USD$125)]

This is good news, thank you :)

  2. 2 Ann Otoole Says:

nice of you to tell us this support is available for people with over 32K sq m. So someone with 64 512 sq m parcels in 64 regions qualifies for concierge support. Hmm.

  3. 3 Redux Dengaku Says:

    I qualify. Whats the number?

  4. 4 Fenleab Says:

    Yay, money buys everything -.-

  5. 5 Digital Digital Says:

This is great if I ever get an island that will be nice, Planning on getting an island next month

  6. 6 Daisy Beauchamp Says:

Can Concierge help me with my laptop/driver issue, which was never an isssue until this recent update, of course, I still have to pay tier, even though I can’t use SL. Maybe concierge can get my tier waived until this issue is resolved?

Yes, I’m pissed, and yes, I’m going to be vocal about it until it’s resolved.

Maybe someone could address the 400+ comments in the blog post made about laptop and driver issues. Would be nice to have a solution to this problem, or acknowledgement of the issue. I can’t even fly around my island to check my vendors, resolve issues etc without hard crashing my system.

I never would have purchased an island if I wasn’t able to take care of it. I’ll just assume I won’t be charged tier until this is resolved.

  7. 7 anonymous Says:

    @ Fenlab
    Yes, it does :)
24/7 will be a great thing for us mainland estate owners. I have had my region flail a few times recently, only to have to wait for 3 hours for the website request to finalize. Cant wait for 24/7 ;)

  8. 8 Chance Unknown Says:

I never would have purchased an island if I wasn’t able to take care of it. I’ll just assume I won’t be charged tier until this is resolved.

At what point did you obtain a quality of service waiver from Linden Lab that none of the remaining island owners have?

  9. 9 Chris Gaits Says:

That is amazing news, thanks! It will also help the out of North America clients.

  10. 10 Spontaneous Radio Says:

Great to hear. Concierge always doing a great job. Keep up the good work.

  11. 11 Klaatu Congrejo Says:

Great news. As a fairly new client (with only 512m2 so far) I am planning for an island or large mainland estate sometime in the future and it will be good to know that help may be available 24/7 for those of us outside of the USA. But why no such support for everyone?

@2 Ann raises a good point. Is this support also extended to those with multiple small parcels?

Finally, sorry if this is off topic but once again your blog on the issue of ID verification was closed before I even got to comment. This is a REALLY hot topic right now and here in Australia it raises a lot of serious privacy issues regarding our own laws (especially if you don’t have a passport or drivers licence) but we can’t get our voices heard! While the rest of the world has been filling up your 100 comments quota we have been sleeping.
It’s 9am in the morning here now, so how about giving us Aussies a go?

  12. 12 Tanner Devonshire Says:

    @11

    LOL, you tell em Klaatu!

  13. 13 Humper McBumper Says:

    Hey Number 6

buy a real computer! dont whine cuz your outdated laptop can not handle the truth…..

  14. 14 Mel Says:

I have not been able to find the concierge phone number. Can you list it here, please. I am glad that the hours have been extended but not having the number doesn’t assist in the dialing. Not trying to be rude. Just in deep despair over having all non-blog/email lines severed and the emails never answered.

  15. 15 Livinda Goodliffe Says:

YAY, so now I can wake up even earlier to get my complaints in..LOL. So..tell me, can I age verify over the phone?

  16. 16 Tanner Devonshire Says:

Off the subject, but, wouldn’t a voter’s registration number work for some of us? Well, here in the US anyway. I mean I had to give them everything but a urine sample to get my card. I don’t know about other state requirements, but I would assume it is similar, but then again I don’t know how much info they can gleen from that either, lol…..

  17. 17 treocast carson Says:

that’s pretty amazing. the few times i have tried to contact them its taken well over three weeks to get a response. i’ve complained, and complained… and never once did they ever mention that there was a phone number i could call. email was the only option ever offered.

just when you think they have the worst customer service in the world, they feel the need to prove it again. gotta love those lindens.

  18. 18 Brett Finsbury Says:

I looked up the word concierge and come up with a french apartment building and a person who handles the luggage. Does this mean a help desk in english? Never bothered with the word until I see it has something to do with me and the knowledge base wasnt helpful. Has everything in it but what a concierge is lol.

  19. 19 Gracie GoldFlake Says:

Mel, Ditto. Please can someone provide this phone number? Thank you!

If you think thats bad try getting help in Japanese its a real winner :/

  23. 23 Talarus Luan Says:

Yes, having the number would help, considering our estate owner now has 8 sims, and has NEVER been given this wonderful number.

  24. 24 Julien Lemmon Says:

Just interesting by know if this number is only for all the world and if the people answer just speak english or over language ? ( Sorry to tell that, ’cause many people on SL dont understand english/american ).

  25. 25 Shirley Marquez Says:

@2 and 11: My understanding is that so long as you’re paying at least US$125 a month in tier and/or island fees, you qualify for concierge support. New buyers of islands receive a support package in-world when they get their islands; otherwise, you’ll have to send email to concierge@lindenlab.com to get the contact information. I don’t imagine that LL will be posting it in the blog; if they did, the phone number would be overwhelmed with callers.

@17: Yes, in the US at least. “Concierge” is a common term for an employee of a fancy hotel who helps guests who have problems, especially non-routine ones.

  26. 26 Lorelei Mission Says:

Hi Talarus, each time an island is delivered, an email receipt is sent to the island owner. The header on the email receipt is [SECOND LIFE PRIVATE ISLAND DELIVERY]. Inside the email receipt is an attachment. The attachment is titled “Private Estate Guide”. Opening it reveals the phone numbers plus a bunch of other island-owner info. Now you can tease your estate owner for not having opened the emails. :)

  27. 27 Tegg B Says:

Hmm yes it would be interesting to know if concierge staff were idle while sims full of smaller land owners crashed & burned?
I mean a sim failure is a sim failure isn’t it?

  28. 28 Gryff Says:

Very good on the opening hours! Now, since you closed comments on the age verification I have to post here - in both the UK (where my credit card is issued) and Germany (where my address is registered) a credit card is indeed a reliable means of age verification. So there will be no need for anything else then, will there?

  29. 29 Jes Bergbahn Says:

A petition against the current Age Verification plans has been started here: http://yanai.blackmage.org/sky2/?page_id=2543

300+ signs, and that’s with only ONE measly 10k sqm parcel in SL linking to it.

  30. 30 Jes Bergbahn Says:

But who am I kidding.. My post will be deleted by moderation anyhow. Lindens can’t face the fact that they’re not only pushing an obscene pay-2-play system on our heads in an effort to cash in bigtime, they’re also potentially infringing on countless laws in countries around the world by demanding we provide them with such info in order to access an already flawed service.

  31. 31 konrad scaggs Says:

im impressed with the phone service , my friend rang up for support , but alas after a half hr wait was then diverted to a answering machine woohoooo. as our age verifacation is going onto a database not the lindens , in my opion i dont think ill be able to do anything but receive spam, when you use a credit card your age , name ,and adress is recorded into the info from the banks . to tell somebody else to put on there data base ,its a invasion of privacy and i for one dont need to be exposed to markerting or advertising for a service i dont want

  32. 32 Virus Loon Says:

hii the age verification comments are closed but can someone tell me what happens if you are under 18 and ont he adult grid and need to be moved to the teen grid
if someone who is under 18 gets moved to the teen grid do they loose all of their inventory and avatar? or do get to keep everything?

  33. 33 Mel Says:

A company owns our islands. I manage it. The company isnt concerned with its well being but I am. That is MY job. We were promised that the managers would notified about conceirge information but it hasn’t happened. All I know is that every email in the past several months has been unanswered and all attempts to reach the conceirges or other Lindens has failed unless someone who knew someone who knew a Linden helped.

Please, we need equal access to keep the sims running. If there is a person to IM for a phone number, I will settle for that in lieu of a blog published number? Like I said, e-mailing has been worthless. I called LL yesterday. Waited 15 minutes… and got shunted to an answering machine!

There is no Live access to the people who maintain the grid anymore and this is a dangerous practice to the grid. What if there is a grid attack? There is no way to notify LL. Our server has broken. There was no way to notify LL. This is extremely frustrating.

The paper trails are expanding. That is well and good for people who have the time to sift through it and know the right key words. But, if not, we come up with zero. And, they still don’t help with EMERGENCIES.

Yesterday, I had things returned from a sim. I went to investigate. It was up in the air and looked like an accordian. I fell off through a chasm (and no this was not a dream) and landed under water. I tried every avenue to let Linden know there was a sim problem. Could not reach them in any manner. This is not good.

  34. 34 Grow Says:

Credit cards do not provide an adequate means of age and identity verification, making real and robust age and identity verification vital. Lol!!! And you think using some third party thats well documented for selling details will be able to ID people better than a RL bank can? You’re off ya heads! Ok, kids could use their parents cards, but they could also use their parents details to give to the third party site :/ You’re not getting anymore of my details, you have payment info details and seeing as I work down the road from the Brighton office, put the kettle on chaps. I’m coming to varify myself that way :) Wont get a better verification than a face to face one ;)

  35. 35 Vylixan Fallon Says:

Good to hear that, although I prefer a more in world solution and fast reponse time.

about the age verification: I am in Holland and you have my CC information thats enough, according to the law, I am not allowed to hand over all the additional information to a unknow nog governement approved company. You have enough info from me allready and I pay enough allready .

  36. 36 Shoshana Epsilon Says:

Will the scripts be changed so a vendor in a mature area cannot deliver to someone who is currently standing in a PG area?

  37. 37 Clubside Granville Says:

You only need to be paying for half a region? Man, I left the group when I dropped below a region because I figured I’d have to… Anyway, if the Concierge Team has any additional time maybe they can try to find out why this “Professional” Blog Hosting Service is limiting feedback to 100 posts when as recently as a few months ago hundreds were supported, and other WordPress sites easily handle thousands of posts. Seems a little silly to allow less than a thousandth of a percent of the userbase a voice, particularly with a few people hogging multiple posts.

  38. 38 Jadis Lane Says:

Not able to post my comments in the the appropriate place, so I’ll do it here. You want my driving licence/national insurance/passport details? Kiss my sweet ass! Like I’m really going to divulge those for the sake of some pixel porn.

  39. 39 TJ Ay Says:

    Linden Labs, two companies ??

Sometimes I am deeply troubled with this Company Linden Labs.
On one side there are coming wired announcements from one side (must be the Ass) with Dumb-Fuck statements as can be read in the “Age and Identity Verification”.

And on the other side there are really REALLY nice people there, Ethan, Guy, Harmony, Cy. They are all very very helpfull and do a great job of helping and supporting us, the user of the Simulation Second Life.

I would like to say here a loud and proud
“THANK YOU GALS AND GUYS !! YOU ARE GREAT !!”

  40. 40 Fred Extraordinaire Says:

in all seriousness i thought i had stumbled onto a phishing scam when i read about the age verification…your asking us for the ammount of information it takes to buy a gun, to see low-quality pornography on second-life. there are millions of FREE un-verifying sources of porn on the internet and linden labs feels like there going to get sued? that is absolutely silly considering the only origional porn in second-life is total crap. people pay nothing to see real porn, and you want them to pay to see some nudie pixels…smells like scam.

  41. 41 TJ Ay Says:

Ohh here is another thing. OK, try this. Goto any Land, disable “Camera Constrains” and then move backwards with yur camera into a closed house. What happens? You are in. You can even go this way into a hollow cube with no opening.

So how will setting the land to PG/MATURE/ADULT prevent someone underage from using his Camera and drive right into the action ?? This whole setup has a problem. There will be always a way to get into this areas.

And trust me it is no brain surgery, if I can figure it out with 47, don’t you think a 14 year old script kiddy will run your whole system into the ground in less than an hour ??

    TJ

(Upps I said my real Age, does that count now ??)

  42. 42 TJ Ay Says:

Ahh sorry for the last post, wrong forum.

  43. 43 Ima Offtopic Says:

Speaking of Concierge Service: since age verification will still continue to be an option in the new Identity scheme, I’m guessing griefing shall continue unabated.

    Yippy Skippy!

So, should I direct my griefing emergencies to my Concierge or to the new and de-improved AR?

  44. 44 Masuyo Aabye Says:

if someone has payment info on file and pays LL a monthly membership fee and a tier for land why do they need the extra verification?

like i care, my lands sold and account ends at the end of this month. it was a fun year on SL but you guys have really lost focus

  45. 45 bernard kubrick Says:

what the number phone for the concierge support ?

  46. 46 Gringo Star Says:

Glad to hear some people in SecondLife will now get something close to real customer service.

Now it would be nice if the rest of the paying members could too. Friend is now going on week 3 with no response regarding a lost land parcel, other than a stupid email to read a bunch of irrelevant unhelpful documents. I guess he’s not worthy of help though, seeing as he only has a premium account and pays for a paltry 1/4 sim tier.

Hey, what’s 30 bucks of your customers money lost to your bugs? After all, you’ve waived liability in the TOS so screw them, right?

  47. 47 Gringo Star Says:

It’s also nice to know that degenerates like LandBaron Merlin will now have support people to call to help him ripoff small people, who will have to wait weeks to hear anything back from anyone at Linden Labs after they get ripped off by him and his shoddy business practices.

SL is becoming more and more like RL.

  48. 48 Elliott Beaumont Says:

I was planning on buying a large parcel of land soon and a concierge service would be wonderful. But if you keep up with this age verification plan, I, alas will have to sell my land and leave. As a premium resident, and well over 18 yo I expect to be able to access adult content if I desire. If not, as a prepaid member, I will be expecting a refund on unused months since you will be breaking our TOS agreement.

  49. 49 Nobody Fugazi Says:

Heh. I still can’t call concierge until they start allowing the use of VoIP. Maybe this SecondLife voice thing could come in handy for people who don’t have access to the toll free numbers outside of the US? Or shall I call the UK and pay even more extraordinary amounts of money to be on hold?

VoIP. VoIP. VoIP. Please support VoIP with your phone systems.

  52. 52 Brett Finsbury Says:

how do I get the number for this service? Sounds good if I have a problem or end up buying a sim when the land prices crash and can make a killing on the auction after this age thing causes many businesses to have to fold and either sell for what they can get before their next tier is due or abandon their land.
    Sorry bad joke :(

  53. 53 kitco wheels Says:

    very impressive

  54. 54 kitco wheels Says:

    very impressed with this thankyou

  55. 55 Crucial Armitage Says:

This service is for, (as it says in the post) for any one who pays Linden Lab $125.00 US a month.

and as in virtually any service industry the more you spend on a service the more support you can get.

would you expect some one paying $5 US a month in tier fees to receive the same level of support as some one who is paying $5000 It just makes sense that some one who pays more would be entitled to more service options.

  56. 56 Rusalka Renoir Says:

Well, I’ve seriously considered buying an island - I’ve already spent thousands of dollars in SL anyway. And better concierge service is fabulous. But with the age verification thing planned the way it is - I wouldn’t do it for a million dollars. In fact, I am 99% sure that I’ll drop back to a basic free account, sell my land and not spend any more money in Second Life if the age verification goes through as planned. I am not giving my name, address, date of birth, and the last four digits of my Social Security Number just to play a game. I wouldn’t give all that information in one place to my own mother. That’s just asking to be reamed. And to the company they are planning? Tied to government politics in the worst way - in a country where we are already being Big Brothered to death? No matter how good the services may improve - I wouldn’t buy and maintain property in a game with that kind of 1984 attitude toward its players.

  57. 57 slged Says:

Suggestion: Is it possible to have basic concierge information (e.g, contact information, email, phone number, notecard links, etc.) archived as a Notice for the Concierge user group? That way, only concierge residents in the group would have access to it, but it would still be readily available.

As a mainland sim owner, who therefore never received the private island estate manager’s guide / email / folder, I emailed concierge@secondlife.com and was added to the group. But, it’s not as helpful, because I still don’t have access to the phone number itself (or any other information about other possible benefits of being a concierge level resident.)

    Thank you.

  58. 58 Vylixan Fallon Says:

Does anyone knows when the new Islandsd will be delivered, we are waiting for weeks now instead of the 4 - 8 workings days ..

  59. 59 Sunshine Araw Says:

Ohhhhhh .this is so pearchy of sl . but what about all the thousands of players that are having trouble with sl unstability, or is sl trying to get them to quit sl, you should be a shame of urselfs to get people in sl and then they cant play. as usual its( ALL ABOUT MONEY)

Second life needs a police force.

  61. 61 Malroy May Says:

Sorry, no choice but to hijack the thread…
Do not give any hard ID info to LL or their chosen 3rd party (est. 2007!). It is illiegal for me to do and would be completley stupid.
The new age verification hoops will utterly change SL and not for the better. It will be easier for minors to get on the grid because now they only need to take a look at mum/dads ID… no pesky bank statements to give them away. Yay!
THIS IS DATA HARVESTING OF THE MOST CRASS AND BLATANT TYPE I HAVE EVER SEEN ON THE INTERNET. I run a gallery and my artists are already telling me they are leaving SL if this goes through. Yay!
    DO NOT ROLL OVER PEOPLE!

  62. 62 Seraph Nephilim Says:

slged (@52), that’s a good idea and I hope they do that. Meanwhile, ask in the group chat. Anyone whose in the group should have that number, so it’s usually shared there. You might also want to email concierge for the new owners package — it might have some useful information for you. (Been a while since I’ve seen it.)

  63. 63 Musicteacher Rampal Says:

What happened to all the comments in the “gesture contest postponed” entry?

  64. 64 Mel Says:

ok guys.. (#52,54) WHAT Concierge group?
    They have a group?
    With notices?

This is so irritating. Am I the only one who doesnt know about these things? Are all the business sims keeping their managers in the dark? And, why dont the managers know about these things from LL. The managers are the ones running the sims a lot of the time.

    :(

  65. 65 Chronic Skronski Says:

Mel, the group is for people who own half of a sim or more. Try as you may, you simply can’t blame LL for everything. If the sim owner has not told you about the group, maybe they don’t want to - unless you own (not “manage”) half a sim or more, there is really even no need for you to know about the group as you will not be able to access its benefits.

  66. 66 Belial Zadeh Says:

Will the last person out please turn off the lights.

  67. 67 Brett Finsbury Says:

Seraph it is happening already. I purchased a 512 lot in alua for 1L because the person who sold it wanted to get rid of it and go basic before his next 3 month premium account payment was due today.
Felt a little odd about this but he wanted out and if I didnt buy it then someone else would have and dont need some casino or another strip club planted right in the center of my nature preserve.
So I am sure the land barons are all for this new policy as they will make huge profits.

  68. 68 Mel Says:

yeah Chronic.. I hear you..but it wasnt intentional that he didnt tell me… he just doesnt pay attention to that stuff. I manage both sims but I own one of them.. paid for it through the company. The “owner” isnt in SL.

I guess I am frustrated because the sims keep breaking and there has been no concierge service through email and all other avenues have been closed. I cant do the things the sim was supposed to do. I had addressed this with th Lindens (re: managers) some time ago and promises were made. So now I find out after all these months of pain there was indeed an avenue and they just didnt impart it.

I sent messages to the conceirge email address with no response with my position and the sims names. Just as I used to do. All they had to say was that there was a new communication route or the group existed. It would have saved me so much difficulty and a hospital visit.

And before people jump on the .. .SL is not something to get so worked up over… For some of us.. it is our only avenue to an outside life. So yeah.. it is a big deal.

All this time and all I needed to know is that there was a group. geez.

  69. 69 Redux Dengaku Says:

@64 Don’t feel bad. I bought 4 islands all at once and all I got was a bill.

So what’s this private avenue of communication? I’ve had a few questions directly relating to the operation of my islands and i can’t get ahold of anyone

  70. 70 Tanner Devonshire Says:

Can someone tell us where we would go, or who to contact for help in our situation. We bought 2 16K parcels on one sim, and 1 16K parcel on another sim, all from one sim owner. We joined the 2 16K parcels. The sim owner has now changed his covenant(the date now shows that it was last modified in 1969) to read that parcels cannot be sold. He also removed permissions so that we cannot deed to group, cannot set landmarks accurately(all slurls and landmarks teleport to one location no matter where set). We have been trying to contact this owner for over a month now, no response. The covenent now forces us to either stay and pay his tier fees or abandon our land. Is there a phone number for that crap?

  71. 71 Anonymous Says:

Just wanted to point out that in the last topic on this blog at this time (”Accusations Regarding Child Pornography in Second Life”), it took less than 4 hours for the new quota of 100 comments to be reached. These hours also happened to be at a time in which most of the US central and east coast is asleep (between 1:45am and 5:30am EDT, roughly).

Does anyone in LL really thinks that giving readers less than 4 hours to comment is consistent with valuing free expression?

  72. 72 Eva Adamsson Says:

transactions.php says “NOTE: L$ transaction data is delayed less than a minute.”

BULLSHIT. Delayed more than one HOUR now. Give us a functioning database, we don’t need SPEECH Linde Lab.

  73. 73 Chronic Skronski Says:

@Anonymous: Appears that the 100 comments is a setting on WordPress. If awake, Usagi usually immediately chews up 10-15% of the available posts, taking away the chance of others to make actual valid remarks. I would like a Usagi filter, please.

  74. 74 Dingle Doigts Says:

I have used speed dial for 2 hours today, only to get the recording which eventually shuttles me off to a message center over and over. Even the recording is out of date. I have left messages for days and sent Emails. As the owner of a sim I have not been given any conceirge information, and I can’t locate any. Email to concierge@lindenlab.com has brought no response. I have never seen such poor customer service. Maybe expansion needs to be put on hold while customer service catches up.

  75. 75 Uh Oh Says:

in the estate functions where do we have the option to ban non age verified? If it is not in place yet how about an added feature like banning age verifieds so we can keep those that admit to being perverts out?

  76. 76 Sabrina Doolittle Says:

Sorry to be annoyingly on topic, but I’ve asked this before.

Can you please run some database foo and send out an email to EVERY SINGLE PERSON who qualifies for concierge support so that they a) know they are a concierge customer, and b) have the concierge details?

I bought my sim 2nd hand, and never even knew Concierge existed until six months later. (I just though Jack and Cyn were nice people!) After having been asked several times on regular support calls “aren’t you a concierge customer?” Dee Linden gave me the number, which I promptly put on a post it note and lost.

In short, I’ve never had a Concierge Welcome Pack. I’d love one. If you don’t have one, I’d be happy to work with you to develop one, but between now and then, I’d be delighted with an email and a phone number. And I’m sure any number of other people would be too - I’ve asked four random sim owners I know, and all of them were are surprised by the existance of a Conciege batphone as I was!

  77. 77 Brett Finsbury Says:

I know this is way off topic but I would like to say it anyhow.
In the past few weeks I have noticed a lot of improvement both on the grid and with store owners.
What I have noticed? One inventory problems seemed to have stopped. I feel safer now buying something and being able to rezz it without losing it.
Two store owners are working harder to keep their customers happy.
Isnt it the customer that makes or breaks a business?
Thank you Butch Adzebills for fixing one problem with a purchase that wasnt SL related. Even went as far to give me the item for free for my troubles. He just made a loyal customer here by going far and above anything I would have expected with his customer service.
As well as Sue Stonebender who sold me a very nice piano for my music room. Was willing to refund my purchase if I wasnt happy with it.
I am very happy with it :)
Guess its hard to focus on things when they are working right and focus on what is wrong.
Thanks to both LL and the store owners for changing the way they are working with their customers. Its nice to be able to make a purchase and not have the fear of losing it before you even get to unpack it.

Suggestion: Is it possible to have basic concierge information (e.g, contact information, email, phone number, notecard links, etc.) archived as a Notice for the Concierge user group? That way, only concierge residents in the group would have access to it, but it would still be readily available.

Is it possible to get information on how to join the Concierge group? Apparently I pay enough, but the only thing Concierge related I’ve ever received was an invite to the last Valentine’s party. I was under the impression, after reading the land store faq, that you had to pay more than $125 to be considered Concierge, but $125 and up is good news to me…

Hot Paris Hilton sex tape images and clip

Shouldn’t Paris Hilton have gone to jail because of her sex tape videos rather than because of not paying ticket charges?
