Of curiousity, where do all-weekend (but only the weekend) scavenger hunts, one-day one-of-a-kind item giveaways and so on fit into "limited time hosted events"? I'm not talking yard sales or generic freebie grounds, but actual legitimate day or weekend or week occurrences? Are they to be considered commercial and lost in the spammage? Or do they pass finiteness test to count? (I personally would want to hear about those. And I hope I'm not told to just join the group for every place that might announce them - a limit of 25 groups makes that a smidgeon unlikely.)

"I think adding a couple of categories to Search would be a good idea too. For instance “Yard Sales” and “Contests”. That way the actual events are not buried by daily / hourly sales."

That is a suggestion of genius. Easy to implement. Provides no excuse for people who post outside of the categories set up for them. Thanks, Chronic! I hope LL does this.

Events? Interesting. I didn't know this section of the search was free and more effective than the classifieds. That's good to know, lol Just kidding.

Anyone concerned about the age verification ordeal is welcomed to come and discuss it in the forums with us. There have been about 40 topics started in the past 2 days about it since LL decided to close the comments on the blog after 100 posts.

i too am hijacking this thread to express my dismay at age verification.

Firstly i would ask if you don't believe me to be 18, why have you been charging my credit card for THREE years. Surely contracting with a minor for services without parental consent is illegal in most countries and certianly these United States. Secondly will i be reimbursed for the many months that i've rented and built on this mature land which i use to bring over noobs from another chat. Your policies will kill that ability unless they either age verify or i dump my dungeon. You've contracted with me, an adult to play sl...all of sl not half of it. i will have objects that i have purchased AND created and won't be able to use, clothing that i won't be able to wear etc. Nowhere in the TOS did it say at some point i may be deemed a child and those monies deemed unrecoverable. If you need to age verify me do it on your own dime you've gotten enough of my money (illegally) if i am a minor and the onus is on you not i. Each and everytime you have charged my card i have been age verified...by you.
Lastly ask yourselves how difficult it is for a minor to get hold of Dads drivers license in order to prove age. If i were a pedophile this would be great, get several alt accounts, give them to a few victims and bingo the kids are in age verified. Face it guys all your idea really does is admit that minors may be on the pg parts of sl and that is not acceptable nor should it be.
i will be dumped from half my chat (in essence) because i refuse to PAY to age verify, if no reimbursement is forthcoming i may have a sweet court case. Might wanna have your lawyers look into that.
i may be old but i ain't stoopid.
Thank you

I am quite happy to see yard sales in events listings.

IF IT IS ENTERED IN THE CORRECT CATEGORY.

What annoys me is the multitude of events that are listed in the incorrect categories just to try and get some notice. That is where the emphasis should lay, and if necessary add a few extra categories especially to commercial for them to advertise events correctly. Then the spammers can feel the weight of a ton of bricks falling on them if they still flout the events rules listings

If I am looking for live music, that is all I want to find there.
If I were looking for a sports event, that is all I want to find there.
I don't want to have to trawl through loads of rubbish first.

The idea of a complaint button....very good idea...but as usual will the Lindens even bother to consider it, like they listen to us on other things ???????????

"Jaydee Unknown, if we are looking for a place to buy things we go to classifieds, if we are looking for events , we go to the events pages.

You are ABUSING the system doing what you’re doing. ’nuff said.

Yeah yeah sure. Putting an event in the event page increased traffic 1,000times more than my classifed ads did. Only reason I know this is because people came during the events times and hardly anytime other. Both the classified ad and the event listing were identical.

The classifieds are useless except for employment.

Non the less I gave up on it all a while ago so don't tell me I am abusing the system when I don't have anything posted in the events. lol And when I did I followed the rules a lot more closely then most.

Anyway what I am saying in the end is I WOULD PAY for events as they are superior to the classifieds. The classifieds are a joke at best.

SIMON and CYFISHY...

I went to the link to vote on your proposal but could not find any way to vote. Yes, I "logged in to see more operations" but still nothing on that page allows a vote. This is why you have a GRAND TOTAL of 4 votes I guess.
