i can't understand the argument, when just
payed members getting priviliges, everything
would be better.

i'm a basic account user and i add value to the
sl community (report bugs at jira, help people
in world and program gpl'ed freebies).

if you cut the rights of basic accounts (thats over 90%
of the user basis), you can close your SL. i will then
put all my power together and push http://opencroquet.org/
to a big success.

I just hate the fact that I can't get a quick answer to questions I may have. For instance: Does the grid have teleport issues or is it just me? Relying on residents to answer that question is like relying on a homeless man to report on highway traffic while holding a sign on a street corner. He can see the traffic; but, he's too busy and doesn't know why the stop light won't change. I'd like to have the Help Request option back, myself.

after the two newest sl viewer upgrades , sl just become more and more buggy. After the newest viewer i have about 20 crash every day.
(about 4-6 hours gameplay)
I upgrade my graphic cards drivers etc and nothing help.

I spend more time trying to deal with the problems than I do enjoying sl.

Huge thanks to those who created the letter.
I, and everyone I know on my friendlist, would have signed it in a heartbeat if we had known about the letter.

While the ongoing stability problems may be irritating at times. I think we need to keep in mind that while the Lindens make money from SL, they also provide us this world in the first place. Without their original concepts and endevour to make this place publicily available, we never would have had SL.

Some of the comments here are, to me, very harsh. Every system has its hiccups and while I agree the current system needs repairing before another upgrade, perhaps we could request such a thing without anger and finger pointing?

WE WANT PHIL & THIS IS NOT AN I WANT NEVER GETS CASE!

Also we want to be able to talk to people, we want quick-time response, we need support, we shouldn't have to create a letter and have thousands of residents sign it to be noticed! We shouldn't have to resort to reading FAQs, wiki, jira and other out-of-date issues on the blog.

So bring back live help!
Do I detect lazyness?

How about LL employs people who are willing to do the simple and basic job of ONLY supporting residents, resetting sims etc, things that are in-game. Big time responses.
Even I myself wouldn't have a problem with a sim-resetting job and i'm sure other help residents would be willing too aswell just to contribute to stabalize the support system which include performance.
Think about it

"WE DO HAVE SOME POWER! – If they refuse to listen to us, then maybe its time to vote with our feet and contact as many news, world press agencies as possible. In the UK the BBC (A major national media company) have had a lot of features about SL, perhaps if they had the truth, it would start to halt peoples interest in SL and signups will fall. Imagine if this spread to all the major news agencies, CNN, FOX, and Reuters – they’ve all featured SL at some point just look at you tube for clips."

Very true!
Second Life has featured on the BBC a good number of times, even the breach of database security or whatever it was was addressed! Articles on official sites and headlines on the news!
I think that is a step we should take if this downfall continues.
Sounds a bit threatening to me though!
/me snickers

*Cough* you know when you're addicted to Second Life when you attempt to use the alt button to view things closer in photoshop and browsers! >.>

I have all but given up on SL after almost 3 years of very solid residency. I have worked so hard to create a place where people can gather, create, and learn. We try to have events and the sims just wont cooperate. There is no one to help. No one to contact. No concierge. No Live Help. Just a wiki/knowledge paper trail that doesnt answer the problems of the moment. All these pretty things being produced but no stability in the sims or the ability to do the basics. Can;t send group IMs. Cant send group notices. Cant receive IMs. Can't even sit when I want. I am so depressed. It put me in the hospital trying to make this work. I am so sad that SL is not what it could have been.

And, before someone pipes up with.. it's just a game. for some of us, it is not. It is our second life and it means something.

"Sure, there are some nifty new features (edit linked parts, mapping privacy)" - There are not new features? o_0

I also dread new releases, the soon-to-come Beta hear is what I and thousands of users are dreading the most!
The majority of secondlife will cram into a sim with voice enabled, users who don't wish to talk to strangers via their personal computer will be ignored when typing most of the time.
If the ATI RADEON x300 and x600 graphics card crash-on-startup is not fixed by the time of the Beta-Hear release... I AND MANY WILL BE D00MED!
The last thing we want Second Life to turn into is... THERE.COM
eep! o_0;
I am still welcoming voice to Second Life though, I am just saying most of us know for certain the hell-of-problems will break loose when this is released!

Anyways.. yes this is kind of off topic, just a reply to #88 :]

Like many I am losing faith in SL. I wish I had waited before buying a large plot now as I'm not sure it has a future. I must have spent a furtune on land, hardware and time and for what? Every new client is full of bugs, lag is awful in the UK and as soon as we reach 40,000 users it will grind to a halt.

I am in favour if giving priority to the payment info used residents and get the freeloaders off the grid.
