March 30th, 2007 at 3:08 PM
i see no fixes for the Win XP crashes yet, so i won’t be using it as yet . . .
March 30th, 2007 at 3:13 PM
Uhh.. is it just me or are eyes only rendering dark O.o
March 30th, 2007 at 3:14 PM
Bugs still occuring:
* Pressing Alt in “edit land” still switches on “show owners” again
* Every now and then JUNK characters appear in chat line (like a ‘circle’) when using keyboard… seems keyboard handling is bugged
* Edit object with Rightclick/Edit often only shows an ‘empty’ edit window, you have to rightclick the prim again to get the info loaded into the edit window.
March 30th, 2007 at 3:15 PM
Forgot this on: I STILL DON’T HAVE ANY SUBFOLDERS IN the LIBRARY! Almost all is gone. Same for Release Version and FirstLook.
March 30th, 2007 at 3:18 PM
Entire folders of mine have been missing for weeks now. When is something going to be done about this. I have lost hundreds of textures and other things that I paid for in game. I NEVER get any of the itmes back that go missing. Will someone please look into this. I have sent emails, bug reports and now am trying on here.
March 30th, 2007 at 3:21 PM
Will this resolve the constant crashing? If not, then I’ll stick with what I have.
March 30th, 2007 at 3:26 PM
@6 Ditto I have lost at LEAST 20k worth the items poses and textures. I have sent at least 7 bug reports about it. NO response, go figure right?
Anyways, It seems half of my eyes, ones mostly black instead of white in them are completely blacked out, almost like its set to be at the darkest setting. When I click appearence though it goes to normal until I get out of appearance again.
Lately I have been having extreme issues teleporting too. Once in about 30 times it will work.
WinXP Pro
NVidia 7600GT with latest dirvers.
2Gig Ram
Intel 2.8 dual core
I dont usually post specs but yeah thats as far as my lazy butt will write atm after getting my hand jamned in a car door.
March 30th, 2007 at 3:28 PM
Nevermind.. it fixed now.. WooT.
March 30th, 2007 at 3:36 PM
Tell me about it! I can’t tell you how much of my inventory has disappeared. I’ve notofied Linden every time and NEVERget anything other than a BOT response directing me to useless help files. The service is disgraceful!
March 30th, 2007 at 3:37 PM
If there is anyone who has been experiencing crashing when moving or going to a new world and has loaded this and it has been fixed…please let me know.
March 30th, 2007 at 3:49 PM
I like seeing a list of public-jira issues fixed in a release. This tool is becoming an important way of communicating issues to LL and seems to be doing a much better job of it than the feature voting tool.
March 30th, 2007 at 4:00 PM
@12: personally, I feel the jira is just one more hoop that has been put up that will confuse the average user. One more place to log-in, one more place to get spam from. All of that and almost as useless as the current means of communications we already have with our ‘dealers of virtual crack’
Then again, it’s pretty much the same with any other online game. It get’s that way because of too many lame phishings and flamings… forums get shut down, doors get closed… a crying shame, really :-/
March 30th, 2007 at 4:03 PM
Still can’t TP anywhere, clothes are not loading on me.
March 30th, 2007 at 4:10 PM
Whoo. Congrats on MAKING THE BLOODY FILES corrupted in downloading the thing!
March 30th, 2007 at 4:20 PM
Without upgrading, my ava was rezzing properly with clothes and everything. However, just like…maybe 25-40 minutes earlier with the rolling restarts, my client freezes and when I log in, I’m in the skin and outfit that I was in earlier this morning. (Even though I had clearly changed my clothes and my skin since this morning.) Now I can’t even change my clothes without my other skins showing up or bits and pieces of my skin not loading correctly.
At least I got one outfit where the entire skin shows up correctly =p
But yeah…I hope that someone is done.
March 30th, 2007 at 4:24 PM
i am afraid every time i get to sl. every time i lost something from my inventory. just see it like this: a good way to clean up our inventory
thanks to the lindens to do this work for us
March 30th, 2007 at 4:38 PM
It’s even worse, with the 14.0 I could play for a few mins 1 hour if If i was lucky, now i can’t even get the main screen
March 30th, 2007 at 4:40 PM
I’m still seeing Rainbow’s after the download I hope there’s a pot of gold at the end of this come on 2nd Life didn’t have this issue until after the first download and now this pass one didn’t do anything!!

March 30th, 2007 at 4:43 PM
Woot! So good to see fixes coming in from Jira. Now I really gotta go download the viewer source and play with it some.
I am having occasional crashes when emptying inventory trash. Just had a crash when emptying trash after moving some folders out of trash that I changed my mind about. Gonna see if I can repro it. iMac Core Duo, ATI X1600, OS X 1.4.9, SL 1.14.0.

This is weird, my crash problem was SOLVED by:
1) updating my first look viewer (i tried if that one worked it had to be updated, it said sl 1.14.0 was already installed, did i wanna re-install.. i said sure..)
2) starting SL using the YES button on end of install, instead of my usual modified auto login icon with –multpiple –login=xxx –password=xxxx parameters
I saw that sl had reset my graphics settings to default on that login. I could use sl.. it was ugly so i pumped my settings back up.. it still works..
Hope it helps someone.

Almost everything in the Library folder has gone missing, including all the landscaping textures supposedly provided. >:(
March 30th, 2007 at 5:16 PM
where’s a download link?
I wont use the update process but want to be able to install forth and back to see which one matches best for me.

Second Life 1.14.0 (1) Mar 30 2007 08:37:57
You are at 261546.2, 251185.0, 505.9 in Endicott located at sim72.agni.lindenlab.com (64.154.220.39:13004)
———
After updating to the optional viewer, I logged in. Some attachments (HUDs and shoe prims in particular) never rezzed. After waiting about 15-20 minutes I cleared cache, logged back in, waited another 10 minutes or so to see if the items would show themselves. They never did, so I tried attaching them from my inventory and the items (my AO, my prim shoes, etc) give me an error when I try to attach them..
“Unable to create requested object. Object is missing from database.”

March 30th, 2007 at 5:42 PM
So, loads of the serious probs from the other thread fixed then
March 30th, 2007 at 5:44 PM
Judging by the posts, most people crash long before they ever see those trivial bugs
March 30th, 2007 at 5:46 PM
1.14.0.1 is worse than 1.14.0.0 for me. Totally unstable. 1.13 was rock steady, 1.14.0.0 was a bit wobbly, and this latest is a total train wreck. My viewer has balled up 6 times in the last 2 hours. I run an XP mce, P4630 @ 3Ghz, 1G ram , nVidia 7600GT with 256M, openGL 2.01 and my drivers are up to date. If you haven’t downloaded 0.1 yet, don’t !
March 30th, 2007 at 5:51 PM
re: post 27:
the crashes usually happened when I turned……either standing or hovering. Moving the camera did it, too
March 30th, 2007 at 6:03 PM
At the very least, the download archive should include past versions of the user-end software so that people can easily roll back to a version that worked better for them. I, unfortunately, automatically allowed 1.14 to install. Not good.
EC
March 30th, 2007 at 6:16 PM
Thanks for the warning, Xanshin, will stick to 1.14.0.0 for now, which has been very stable and fast for me.
One thing though, regarding your openGL version.
I’m running a 512mb Nvidia 7600GS card on mine, but my open GL version is 2.0.3 . Thats the very latest update, you sure yours are up to date on just 2.0.1?
March 30th, 2007 at 6:25 PM
Where can I download the the 1.13 viewer? It’s not on the download page where it belongs? The download page just has OPTIONAL viewers!
March 30th, 2007 at 6:32 PM
I am still experiencing crashes right when I login, I was hoping this would fix it.

It seems like i having loggin problems it couldt not resolve my domain name…
March 30th, 2007 at 6:54 PM
I continue to be amazed at the negative comments directed to Linden Labs. They had the viewer out there as First Look for a very long time. Everyone had an opportunity to download it, try it and submit bug reports. Just guessing, but those who have the most negative comments didn’t bother to try it. I am running Vista Ultimate and it runs very well with minor adjustments in compatibility mode. You have to keep in mind that a few people running First Look is way different than 30,000 people beating on it. They cannot possibly test for every error condition. If you didn’t participate in the process you have nothing to complain about.
March 30th, 2007 at 7:05 PM
This latest update is causing major probelms for my video card; I’m crashing all the time! Why a second update so soon after the other??????
March 30th, 2007 at 7:09 PM
Took three times to get the 1.14.0(1) install to complete. In world I notice more “chat lag” than before, attachments not attaching to the right places, very slow inventory, very slow animation load (ao, etc..) To me 1.14.0(0) seemed more stable and performed quicker.. still cant teleport to locations half (or more) of the time… Very much looking forward to these issues being fixed!
March 30th, 2007 at 7:11 PM
Missing inventory here too, with 1.13.x.x client. Appears not to be client related. Have done all suggested workarounds, filed support request, in-world help, lalala no help from LL. Not buying anything anymore until I’m sure it will not disappear. You’d think the retail community would be up in arms about this …
March 30th, 2007 at 7:46 PM
1.14.0.1 is no good… i just installed it, and then logged out, and then tried to log back in, and i cant. it says cannot connect to server.. but obviously my internet connection is fine.. thanks for the link for 1.13.. im going back to that.. hopefully it will work and no inventory items are gone..
March 30th, 2007 at 7:59 PM
no problem here
March 30th, 2007 at 8:04 PM
Selecting ‘Nearby Local Lights’ in Preferences crashes me every time
March 30th, 2007 at 8:23 PM
With the previous my only trouble was an occasional psychedelic colored flashing effect in some textures.
with this 1.14.0.1 i’m sort of a half ruth but with my own clothes but tight fitted who can barely walk, can’t TP and gets a download speed of about 3k on a 6MB adsl pipe.
P4 3GHz
2GB RAM
NVIDIA GeForce 6200 (256MB)
bios v5.44.A2.09
FW v81.98
Thanks for the option, I’m rolling back to 1.13.3.2.
March 30th, 2007 at 8:34 PM
@ Everyone who’s missing inventory due to stuff not appearing:
Try deleting your cache and restarting. I don’t mean hitting the ‘clear cache’ button, this doesn’t work; close SL, find the cache folder in your application data or wherever you’ve set it to, and delete the whole thing. This seems to work for a good many people..
March 30th, 2007 at 9:13 PM
This doesn’t help. Nothing helps, not rolling back to 1.13, not updating my driver, not clearing the cache - all of which I’ve tried.
I can’t at this point even get to the login screen, through 1.13, 1.14 or the first look supposed fix.
I’m wasting more time and money by the day.
As soon as I get back into SL - assuming I ever do - I’m selling my land and never coming back.
March 30th, 2007 at 9:15 PM
Im still crashing 20 mins in and its not just SL crash its full on freezing my comp causing me to restart -_- its not my griphic card its updated.
March 30th, 2007 at 9:20 PM
Listen up LL! I am missing inventory!
A very important folder and all of it’s sub folders filled with many EXPENSIVE avatars has gone missing! Some of it is not replaceable.
I tried all the tricks, clearing cache, nuking my install of Second Life completely off my computer and reinstalling. Logged in with different clients including back-versions. Nothing….
Other people are complaining of the same thing. Hello? Your database is corrupting! I’ve also seen other symptioms. No trans items suddenly turning sellable. etc.
DO SOMETHING!
March 30th, 2007 at 10:15 PM
And starts…………….shakeshead we all knew this was coming.
March 30th, 2007 at 10:45 PM
6 Crashes in the Mac Client today, always when just doing nothing. VBO is definately not on.
March 30th, 2007 at 11:09 PM
After updating SL works better for me, It don’t crash that often anymore,
1 or 2 times a hour, and the best NO SYSTEM REBOOTS anymore.
Everybody who have lot of crash try this release but install it in another folder
so you can go back to the old installation. I always install a update in another folder, if it don’t work well i have the old version working.
i use
CPU: 0.13 micron Intel Pentium 4 (2405 Mhz)
Memory: 512 MB
OS Version: Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack 2 (Build 2600)
Graphics Card Vendor: NVIDIA Corporation
Graphics Card: GeForce2 GTS/AGP/SSE2
OpenGL Version: 1.5.3
But afte some good things sometihings to improve
-loading texture takes a much longer time
-every few minutes i freeze for few seconds (but no crash)
-and the screen blicks about 3 or 4 times a minute then the menu and the
buttons on the bottom of the screen disappear.
March 31st, 2007 at 12:23 AM
I’m having severe problems with this latest update. Installed it this morning and now I only get the static login page. Login gets as far as Verifying Version Protocol and then the error message System is down..etc. Obviously the system isn’t down, all the rest of my internet related programs work fine and I can log in using my husband’s machine (I didn’t install the update on that one). I’ve currently got a window to Live Help open who haven’t replied - 35 minutes and counting.
I’ve uninstalled and reinstalled the latest version. I’ve uninstalled and reinstalled the old version, I’ve even completed a system restore. Nothing works. Help!

KEYBOARD HANDLING: i now have1-14-00 more or less stabilized apart from occasional unsolicited crashes by manually tweaking settings. SO i wont be upgrading till im forced to. only thing i cant fix is KEYBOARD handling sometimes i can do my usual 100wpm and other times 1 character per second, and that is with me pounding the keys. PLEASE DOES ANYONE HAVE A FIX FOR THIS KEYBOARD PROBLEM since i see i am not the only one who suffers with it.
for the people who look half ruth and half human, this happened to me on st patricks day inworld and it turned out my skin was corrupted. new freebie skin and ruth left me.
my thanks to those nameless slifers who contribute open source fixes that help dumbos like me!
March 31st, 2007 at 12:47 AM
I feel you Sarah, have been playing almost 2 months now and have lost a grand total of 18,345 Lindens in clothing and other items because of mysteriously dissappearing inventory items. Complain and complain and Linden Lab doesn’t do anything. They need to put a restitution plan in place for this: either that or hire more of their useless Lindens to handle this problem. In fact, I even know of someone who uses tools a Linden gave her…most of them are nasty tools that can keep you off of your land when you have her banned, etc. Sent many complaints about those as well…nothing is done of course because for the rich people, what’s 20k worth of stuff? I’m about to stop recommending this game to my friends (those who’ve played the Sims 2 and want something more expansive).

I’m glad to see that I am not alone in suffering the missing Library folders problem, I can confirm that this isn’t client related but seems a server side problem.
March 31st, 2007 at 1:32 AM
This version still crashes on me when the log in screen is loading. Cries
I guess I’m still stuck using version 1-13-3-2. It’s the only one that works for me.
March 31st, 2007 at 2:29 AM
I have also had some missing folders, not much, mostly the thing that bothers me is that I now have about 20 lost and found folders. In the fix before this one, earlier in the week, I had my gestures show up in the lost and found. I cannot delete the extra folders. Any advice would be appreciated!
March 31st, 2007 at 3:08 AM
after last message my sytem reboot twice. This update is more stable for me than
1.14.0.0 but i am glad that i have 1 1.13.3.2 also that version is much better.
I hope they don’t make this version mandotory before they fix more bugs.
March 31st, 2007 at 3:15 AM
some just have to disable some options
reading the blogs here is mostly a nice outcome:) for if you want to know whats going on very detailed
keep up the good work in reporting to us what the problems are
I havent seen that yet with any other game or chatbox or community :P.

So I downloaded the new 1.14.1.0 viewer thinking “hey good, they got the bugs worked out”. WRONG. This view run’s way slower than 1.13.3.2. I dont know why, but for what you get in 1.14.1.0 it is not worth it to download. I would hate to think with all the people posting problems (and the ones who do not, just live with it) the Lindens would sit up and take notice and release 1.13.3.2 back to the public as a solution. It is OK to admit you made messed up, just make your customers (something the Lindens forget now and then…. the fact that we are their customers) happy and allow them to go back to the old view. I am just thankful that I did not delete my old set up files!
March 31st, 2007 at 4:36 AM
The 1.14.1.0 is even more unstable……..crashie crashie crashie!
March 31st, 2007 at 4:37 AM
@20: “starting SL using the YES button on end of install, instead of my usual modified auto login icon with –multpiple –login=xxx –password=xxxx parameters”
I have stopped using -multiple altogether unless I know I need both accounts on at once. Seems to perform worse than just a regular single login. Of course, that may be down to transient grid issues during testing.
@11: “If there is anyone who has been experiencing crashing when moving or going to a new world and has loaded this and it has been fixed…please let me know.”
One thing that always seems to crash my G/Fs PC is teleporting while the radio stream is running. Since the update, it happens less often but does still happen.
March 31st, 2007 at 5:19 AM
If you open a image in a window (like texture preview of a set of textures) it will show the size at the bottom of the screen with 0×0.
If you try to resizes the window so you can read the names of the textures or to make a image larger it wont stretch to it’s full size.
Meaning only the window does get larger but the image doesn’t.
This is since SL 1.14.0
March 31st, 2007 at 5:40 AM
Still crashes on my system
March 31st, 2007 at 6:44 AM
Is this supposed to fix all the probs with laptops? lack of drivers etc? probs with textures causing crashes when avatar moved around?
I’m scared to try because I don’t know how to get back to square one again.
March 31st, 2007 at 6:50 AM
It’s MUCH worse than before on my computer. Even with bumpmapping/shiny and nearby lights disabled, all I get is textures loading and rezzing all over the place even when I’m in relatively empty places. Also, many prims appear missing. Looks like this viewer is - once again - a dud.
March 31st, 2007 at 7:07 AM
I’m usually very patient, but with the new version I’m crashing with almost *every* teleport, and my patience is really running out.
The load up time is longer than any previous client I’ve used as well.
March 31st, 2007 at 7:16 AM
THIS UPDATE IS THE WORST EVER, I have crashed no less than 60 times in 3hrs, cannot stay in sl 4 longer than 5 mins. The previous update was bad with frozen avatar and tp problems but this one takes it 2 far.I hav been in sl premium paying customer for nearly a year and now I am so frustrated with the crashes that I am getting close to cancelling sl 4 ever as it is no fun when you crash everytime because of being mislead by so-call updates for better performance….NOT HAPPY!!!
March 31st, 2007 at 7:27 AM
I returned to the previous version of the viewer. Less problems but what i feel is that from the time this viewer is introduced the whole grid is lagging heavily. I don’t know if that relates to the introduction of the viewer or to something else.
I would suggest to LL that maybe taking off this release would might help bringing back stability on all grid. Unless the instability on grid these last days is due to other reasons and not the viewer.
March 31st, 2007 at 7:40 AM
I’m new to this world and should never have updated. I had no problems with the original download but when I updated my computer crashed twice scaring me to death (not being a techie). I won’t be visiting SL again until I see that things have settled down.

Will try again and see if it repeats.

Running at Winxp-pro sp2 V2002
And i have no problems. not worse then last one.
I can say there even some slight inprovements like discribed.
My Specs.
ASUS kt880
AMD 2800 Athlon, 5th gen, “Barton” XP @2.08 ghz, FULL fsb, 512K
ASUS 6600 GT - AGP.. Dual monitor.
MAXTOR: Sata1 Stripe raid0 - 400gb +- 6gb/sec (dual hard drives)
KINGSTON: 4*512mb DDR @333/400 mhz
This system is from about the year 2002 and always has been upgraded by myself with top brand parts. Ive been messing with pc for about more then 2 decades. AMD 32bit cpus are know tobe less stabile then intel types. while AMD cranks out way more but also create way more temperture.
Specs donot meen stability. every piece of hardware can have its own effects on stability even in combo with drivers and software, 64bit cpus are NOT more stabile by default. Your cpu+mem+mainbord is what makes your “golden triangle” when theres something wrong there you never will have stability! golden triangle is what provides stability. hardware speed or ratings dont meen nothing if that keeps messingup. if your going to buy a new pc watch Quality of mainbord+cpu+mem and its cooling.
Now im not saying your computer is crab, but consider the next issues.
If you did buy your pc in a cheap mass sale.. then mostlikely they didnt use topself parts. even if its 64bit. or one week old or some crazy name. quality matters!, these pc usualy contain the minimal stuffs. small slow harddrive. integrated vid, minimal cooler. get the point here. minimal.
Secondlife is a CPU hog.. devices might overheat and decrease stability perhapse even crash whole pc. most of the times computers need to be fitted with larger cooling systems for gaming. specialy in warmer weather. Cpu/MEM/Mainbord and drives (golden triangle & storige) will overheat, also fans collect dust, if your pc is like a year or older it would be a good idea to let it those be cleaned out, specaliy if you smoke around it. Fans just freezeup all the time by collecting dust and ecfectively stop turning and cooling. (not kidding).
Just a proper (larger) cooler will do, you dont need fluid cooling.. (what if that starts leaking, then the drama of the huge size of it. attacking pc with drills and such NOOOO!) a normal (good/larger) cooler costs about 10-30$ (depending on cpu) costs to install it shouldnt be that high.
Also some cards you might have in you computer. like a tv card can couse serous issues with your vidcard. specaly if they are the older types. to give an exsample. Sb life/audigy cards are nutorius for messingup on VIA MB chips and there timing. its a good idea to tossout cards you dont longer use. even cards that came from other pc’s might got dammaged there. Get the painfull story here.
Yes secondlife crashes.. it does.. but it also depends what quality hardware you use and its health it is in and even combos to this. (temp/voltage and hardware in the whole system)
Theres mannymore reasons and exsamples to this. most of them moddel specific. Computers might be a Blownup calculators. but they far from perfected! pc’s are moduliar, it can be buildup out manny parts.. This doesnt make it easy to write software to fit all, it makes it inposible to serve all in one solution couse all these varations in cards, cpus, maibords, OS types and so on. only thing you can do is get the most current hardware. but that might not be fully suported yet.. annyways get my point.
Back to topic.
Even when i visit bussy sims what always crashed me randomly, this client keeps up going.
And things seems to be working better, verry excited SL is back on a road to being pleasent once more to spend time in, my major frustration is lag.. considering im in europe. 300 ping. and some freezes here and there isnt so bad i presume. specialy when there about 30k+ on the grid.
Try this..
Nvidia vid card: http://nvidia.com
- or -
Ati vid cardi: http://ati.amd.com/support/driver.html
This also might help. i asume you must alrdy have this..
M$ direct-x : http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=0a9b6820-bfbb-4799-9908-d418cdeac197&displaylang=en
if this all didnt work.. you could try a fresh OS (window) install
(i dont recoment this couse you loose everything)
but it will reveal if its anny software/drivers you might have installed.(try SL, install something else and try SL again, repeat)
next step would be extracting cards.. but this is best done by a qualifyed person.
I dont recoment messing yourself with PC’s if you dont know what your doing.. most of the time you will messup your garantue with doing it yourself! or worse. just dont open the casing let someone thats qualified do it.
Harware temperture under stress is something tobe looked into if you keep crashing.
Specialy if you smoke around your pc.
Specialy if your in a hot weather area.
Specialy if you didnt check that for a long time.
Specialy if it runs 24/7
faster systems create more heat need more cooling… specialy with games.
Hope this all helped a bit.
I just hope LL keepsup fixing instead of adding new features, im realy excited about something that actualy promises what it actualy does.

Crashes have increased considerably since 1.14.0 and rezzing takes much longer. I also started getting about an 80 - 90 % TP failure rate, but that is the one thing that appears to have been resolved by 1.14.0.1.
One differences in the crashes since 1.14, is the fact that they now happen almost all the time without any warning whatsoever. One second all is normal, the next my screen has shut down and I see the crash logger.
Another problem that was happening before, seemed to improve with 1.14.0, but has gone back to the status quo with 1.14.1, is that the crash logger never seems to stop. If I don’t close it, it will say it is transmitting data all night, until I do stop it.
March 31st, 2007 at 8:41 AM
Land texture/color is not rezzing, its gray. Seems to be fine if I relog 2 or 3 times but still a bit annoying.

It would be very helpful if I could download my inventory on to my harddrive or disk to save me some stress. Does anyone know if this is possable?? If not I vote that it become an option with the amout of money being spent on items, we could at least save our items onto disk.

Still using 1.13 actully crashes have seemd to lessen but as of today saturady, packet loss is anywhere from 15-50%,Anyone else expernicing this today?
Im to afraid to attempt to use these new updates. No offense to the “open source contributors” im sure your very good but im puzzled why LL had to seek outside help on this . =/ Not to mention readin the above posts 1.14.1 still is not stable hehe feels like im back in beta test days

This new version is crashing a LOT for me.
Latest 1.13 practically never crashed, but this 1.14.0(1) is crashing about every 15 minutes.

Here’s a tip I hope will fix yer all’s problems.
I’m on a Mac G5 tower with 2Gb mem and a tera of harddrive. It’s quite a machine. I used to have problems with all these viewers crashing - flashing textures, inability to walk in a straight line, hair and boots up the ass, periodocially missing folders, permanently missing inventory, cash outs subtracted from my SL balance and never added to my RL paypal, UI size changes suddenly snapping to full size, cam freezing, missing texture designwear, skin-tight smoking jackets, ruthing at entirely inappropriate times, bug reports concerning production and first look viewers not being addressed, complaints about people postin shit in the live music events category about how to make money on sl or asking me to become part of some freekin survey, people not showing up as online in my friends list that I’m lookin at standing in front of me, teleports failing, teleports leaving me in some kind of limbo where I have to restart my whole damn computer to get out of, everything rezzing but the one sign .5 meters in front of me I want to read, nothing rezzing but the one sign .5 meters in front of me I already freekin read, notices in my email of ppl giveing me inventory that isnt in my inventory when I sign in, bent knees I can’t straighten up, dances I can’t quit, huds that wont rez, a bunch of vehicles that are useless because they just look silly if you even think about using them, jeans for males that arent labeled low-rise when you buy them so freekin often I just wont buy any jeans anymore, shops with gift items that are all no transfer, and the occasional idiot who whows up nekid at a live event like oh my gawd what is the werld coming to I am so freekin shocked to see an idiot show up nekid at a live event like that aint never been done before everybody stop what yer freekin doin and have a hissy fit over this major disruption and hey yer weener dont even match you tard, and my skin all looks normal except I have a dark brown head, or dark brown arms which would be ok cept the rest of me aint dark brown, eternally loading notecards I aint never got to read, grey gobs and sheets instead of a nice particle display, and group notices that never go out, just to name just a few.
I’ve quit smoking around my computer and everything works well now. Thank you LL.

This version is crashing on me every 10-15 minutes if I can even get on. I am running WinXP Pro SP2, 1 gig Ram, Intel LGA775 P4 641 3.2 Ghz 800 FSB 2MB HT, NVIDIA Quadro FX 540. I had no problems with 1.13. I have the most recent drivers for my NVIDIA board (just checked). I am going to reinstall 1.13 if I can locate it.
March 31st, 2007 at 11:13 AM
Windows XP SP2
Tested it on 4 machines.
This client still has a GIANT memory leak. Before making it mandatory this needs to be fixed. In just a couple hours all my Virtual Memory is gone. Windows needs to increase my Virtual Memory. Only way to clear it out is to shut down the game and restart. One machine after running the game it has to be completely rebooted to clear it out enough.
I have a choice, play SL for a couple hours and do nothing else on my machine because there is no memory resources, or use the old client. Downgraded all the clients again to 1.13
March 31st, 2007 at 11:21 AM
I agree totally with the above on both 1.14.0.0 and 1.14.0.1. While I have not received the “increase virtual memory” error, once either of these viewers runs, I can no longer access WinExplorer or any other major app on my machine with out a reboot. In the previous client, and the first look client that proceeded the 1.14 release, I could run PSCS2 and SL with no problems. Now, even after I shut down SL, I can not load PSCS2 with out rebooting machine.

AMD Athlon 64 Processor 3500+ ~2.2GHz
1024 MB RAM
NVIDIA GeForce 6600 128.0 MB
Windows XP Home Edition
STILL crashing with 1.14. I last no more that 3 or 4 minutes, then the screen locks up. It disables the entire PC and I have to perform a hard reboot.
There is no set activity that happens prior to the crash. It has happened when chatting to a friend, resizing textures on an object, scrolling through my friends list or just walking around.
I have not updated my graphics card driver. Both times I have attempted to do this previously (with this PC) the modern marvel that is Windows XP has automatically wiped out the drivers that pertain to OE and my internet connection and that results in me having to take the PC to a professional to restore those drivers. Why is it that when Microsoft try to make a feature idiot-proof, they make it impossible for me to perform a simple action and make ME feel like an idiot? It used to be so easy with older versions of Windows. LOL.

My rant for the day…
Please, PLEASE Lindenfolk:
It is NOT reasonable to design softfare or a game system that REQUIRES users to continually update drivers for the up-to-the-second versions, especially if the drivers are inappropriate to their recent, well-made PC systems. My system is excellent (Pent 4 with 3.40 ghz, 2gb RAM, on XP and a GeForce 7800 GTX card), well beyond the requirements for SL, and I update all software through the manufacturer. The drivers are the latest for my year-old, Dell-designed system. I had their techs crawling about my system’s innards (well, the PC at least). Both they, and NVIDIA, tell me I have the best for my system (which again, is well beyond the requirements of SL).
We are not all tech freaks, and we cannot buy new cards at the drop of a hat (or of a buggy SL viewer).
If you want to build a base of loyal, paying, active, non-churning CUSTOMERS, you must create an system that supports a wider number of cards and/or drivers.
I CANNOT use 14, either version, with GeForce 7800 GTX, even with the newest drivers anyway. Furthermore, if I try the drivers which are intended for my great system, I have to deal with degraded graphics for any other use of my PC. Yes — SL might be OK (which would be interesting to see if it did not freeze), but anyhing else I use, such as Photoshop, is terribly degraded. You can’t seriously expect us to switch drivers every time we switch programs.
As I mentioned in the blog comments for the viewer issues, I rolled back the viewer to the last version, and kept the drivers Dell tells me are the BEST AVAILABLE for a CURRENT release high-end Dell system. This seems to be a workable solution until LL can revamp the viewer.
At least I hope you will. I am not buying a new card just for SL.

I want to thank Anne OToole for republishing the links to the 1.13 version… I was able to reinstall the 1.13 version and have been a much happier camper due to the more stable version. I was crashing every 5-10 min. and growing increasingly frustrated. Thanks Anne!
By the way:
OS Version: Windows XP
Graphics Card: GeForce
Seems to be the common denominators….

BOOOOO!!!
1.14.0.1 = CRASH!!!
March 31st, 2007 at 1:05 PM
I don’t know whether it was sometime this week or last, but I just wanted to say thanks for fixing the editor so that when I set the textures, etc. on a linked object, it actually just applies the changes I specify, instead of flipping back and forth between the old textures/colors and the one I want. Something positive to say about something positive done.

Ok can’t tp myself anywhere once again. And I crashed again 4 times today. Puleeze don’t tell me what to do to fix this, I did all what was possible to do that is said to help. Now its YOUR JOB to fix your game anyway…
While I’m boxing in the ring and I crash… its very frustrating….
What’s the point of playing this game now? Quite stressful to always wonder “Okay… today will I be able to go anywhere at all” ” Will I crash again” “Will I receive in IMs all what my friends are trying to say” “Will I lagg badly again”
Or even worse, “WILL I EVEN SEE MY CLOTHES ON AT ALL TODAY?” “WILL I LOOSE ITEMS TODAY?” etc etc.

23.30 GMT everything terminally slow after downloading 1.14.0.1, took 4 login attempts to gradually change from a Ruth to my normal avatar. Folders in inventory only opening up after a long time logged in. Rezzing slow, however, animations quick and responsive. Took 12 minutes for my Landmarks folder to display contents.
