Classifieds Refunds
Friday, March 2nd, 2007 at 12:42 PM by: BlueWe’ve identified and corrected a problem where, in a small number of cases, classifieds that were set to auto-renew were being deleted. Fortunately, The majority of those whose classifieds went missing, instead of renewing, were not charged.
We are working on generating a list with the names of people whose ads were deleted and were charged so that they can be compensated for the error. You will appear on the list if you have no classifieds currently running at the price you were charged for. This applies only to classifieds that went missing in the past 7 days.
We’re sorry for the inconvenience caused.
Corrected to emphisize that not all auto-renewed classifieds were deleted and not all deleted classifieds were charged.

I just noticed that 2 of my ads were deleted, but I am not sure when. I did “renew” them a few days ago when I noticed and was charged an additional fee. Not sure if I was double charged or not.

I had a classified disappear that was NOT set to auto-renew, and it occurred more than 7 days ago (on the 20th). Where does this leave me?
I haven’t had a response from Linden support, or been able to get through on the phone.

In most cases where your ad was not run, you were not charged. Sorry if I was not clear on that point. You were only compensated if you were charged for an ad that did not run.

Yes this has happened to me as well within the past month, try having your ads maxed out and coming back to having 3 left. The worse thing about it was redoing all of the ads. I dont put the same things in all of them so it was a major pita.

What about the lost revinue i would have had had my add been up. I wonder how many weeks my classifieds were missing before I noticed?

Good thing I bug reported it or you may have never found it. So brownie points for me I guess. besides I only pay 50 for mine. That way when I do sell something it’s profitable.

OK. I got my refund for the L$1001 ad that deleted and charged me instead of running the ad. Thank you for that, at least.
But I had two other ads that should NOT have been due to renew yet, and which were also deleted. I didn’t get charged for those, at least. However, your glitch completely wiped out my retail presence from the classified ads!
I really am uncertain that I can trust your ad system right now, and am quite reluctant to place new ads. The fact that you did the right thing and refunded the ads that were charged for and deleted at least gives me a little hope for the system.

My classified ads also mysteriously disappeared, I’m really glad I didn’t put too much money into them this time. This is a real important issue LL, some people put a lot of money into classified ads.

So, let’s say if we had 10 ads running at L$100 each, and 9 were deleted, we would get no money back because we still have one running at that same price?! Isn’t there a better degree of accountability?

Yeah, 7 days? Please. I reported the problem to the lindens over 10 days ago and that was the second occurance of the problem with my ads. I had it occur again this morning.
I suppose since I set all of the ads back up already I wont be refunded? Yeah… Thanks lindens. I really appreciate it.

/me clap clap… i reported this bug about a month ago as i was affected by the auto renew (but jk not gonna renew your ad) bug. I wasnt charged thank god… anyhow thanks for solving this bug woot!

I really need to say this - this kind of ‘bug’ is inexcusable. Many of us pay lands tiers and our ads are an important part of our business. Half my classified poofed and was refunded for one. This is the second time in 4 weeks I logged on to find some of my classified renewable ads missing. This can not keep happening.

Whatever happened to the refunds from back in December, when everybody had their classified ads run twice.
At the time, the blog said “We will give more information about this later” - and I still haven’t heard anything, much less gotten a refund.

Im frustrated cause i never knew my classifieds were gone and i had a bunch and they were all really good, and im sure we lost some traffic from this glitch. then suddenly i found all of them were gone. i wish i could remember what amazing things i wrote in the.

I lost my 50 and 200 L$ before and now again a 50 $

Good Morning I am one of the nurmerous that had placed several ads this past week and 2 were to be renewable. I didn’t read this until a few moments ago after paying for another ad, wondering what happened. I would greatly appreciate the return of two 100Linden ads that were placed and 1 50L ad. The only thing I am likely to quit is to quit wasting money and effort on Linden-run classified ads in Search. It hardly makes sense to pay for something that is so likely to vanish without notice, and which, if you don’t pay through the nose, is so likely to have your ad burried so deep in the pile that no one will see it anyway.
This probably *will* be one more thing to help kill my attenpt at making a free-standing store, as I needed the ad to direct traffic to that site. Instead I’ll reduce my overhead and just sell through established malls.

Again today I wake up and log in to find two of my ads GONE! Hello, anyone out there? Im getting a bit tired of this, I had plenty in my account to cover the ad amounts and they were checked to run on a weekly basis. Please fix this asap and let me know if my ads are “lost” or if they can be added back. Thank You.

Just thinking - If LL can create a list showing the names of those people who’s ads were deleted (how? why? again!?), then why can’t it restore those ads? Or was the data trashed for good?
Back to the confidence thing - if “due to a problem” inventories and inworld content get similarly, irretrievably, deleted - will the only reompense be a Linden refund or membership fee refund?
Yes, I understand “no consequential loss” clauses, and of course this is what will be cited, but it doesn’t exactly inspire one to throw money (LL or RL) at something that can be so readily and easily wiped!

My classified ad went missing last night. I assume this blog entry meant the problem was fixed. Guess not. Will wait to see if I’m charged for it tonight. Live help was no help. I was sent the link to this blog entry (no other words when I stated I had already read the blog, just closed out the conversation), which I had already read. Please SOMEONE realize the problem *might* not be fixed. Classified ads ARE still missing.

all my adds were not renewed last saturday and so i wasnt upset about it but when i redid them a few days ago, some of them disappeared others didnt. I had renewed them all on wednesday and now they are gone again.

My Club add Heaven above the clouds also disapeared at $50 L(thankfully i didnt spend 2000 like usual)
im going to send tech support and email to get refungs. yes this is a cheap way for me to advertise but i figured you owed me that much

Geez. I already wondered what happened to my sales when I found most of my classifieds missing (like 2 of 12 left). I got the refund, thank you, but I don’t care much about those few thousand L$ advertising costs, I rather care about the hundreds of thousands of L$ in lost sales. I have enough to check daily as it is (prim drift moving my store interior around, items vanishing now and then), now I’ll have to daily check on my classifieds in addition. Please don’t do that again.

since i have 3 that survived and one that vanished i assume i am burned out of the fee for the one since the 3 are all for the same price as the one that vanished. Seems to me someone that has better business acumen needs to be running the classifieds and redesign the system to accomodate full accountability. this smacks of an amateur programming job.

hi, i’m wondering, if there is a way to get my classified refunded from way back when, when the tp’s weren’t working last year, i’ve written, spoken to people on the telephone, and still after all this time, have had no refund. i’m not sure what to do at this point, it’s taken so much of my time to get this addressed, and i’m just not sure where to turn now. i know that you all are doing your best as SL grows and i can appreciate that, i’d just like to get my refund squared away from last time. any ideas???

I hope I’m not the only one who doesn’t consider this a big deal. I had 5,000L in two ad’s that didn’t renew (just dissapeared, wasn’t charged) and a couple thousand that I was charged for and they didn’t show up. Emailed tech support and I was refunded same day, and as a responsible business owner, I keep copies of my ads in a notepad file in a folder on my PC that I keep ALL my second life files in. I simply placed new ads.

March 5th and I just noticed my Classified went poof for the 2nd time in a month! I thought this was fixed….
I don’t care if i wasn’t charged. I just care that I have no idea how long I’ve been going without any ad whatsoever. That explains the drop in traffic but doesn’t explain the lost time and money. I know deep in my heart that Linden Lab is better than a podunk rural newspaper. I just have to trust in that.

This issue clearly has not been resolved. I placed more classifieds on the 3rd but half of those have vanished again. This is the fourth time this has happened now. A total waste of my time and money resubmitting these classifieds.

Ok, my question is this… yesterday I had over 20 ads for my many stores throughout SL. I don’t see that anything was credited to me… and today there are only 5 ads running. ALL my ads are renewable weekly!!! So what are you going to do about that… This happened between last night and this morning…because I check them everyday!!! And, on one of the remaining ads that is there, the pics have reverted to the default one for the sim…not the picture I put there!!!

Obviously this problem is NOT corrected! Since ALL my classifieds were showing up on my profile yesterday March 4, 2007, and you posted refunds were given on March 2nd… and today the 5th of March, I only have 5 out of 20+ renewable ads showing up. I would appreciate someone looking into this issue please.

I have been out of SL on and off for a few days now and only noticed this today after I also noticed my sales drop sharply. It good to know we are being refunded for the classifieds listings but what about the lost days of pay?

Once again this problem is not fixed, this is now the 3rd time my classified where deleted and this is impacting me greatly.
Your customer service from Lucy Linden who essentialy just closed the window after I responded that the link to a message claiming it was fixed on the second, is not sufficent when it happens again on the 5th.
Email support also seems to be ignoring that problem and every other email problem I have sent.

As is usual you say its fixed and it is not. Classified ads are still being deleted. It would be really a big improvement if you stopped declaring a problem “RESOLVED” before you actually see that it is resolved. So far LL’s track record on fixing problems is pretty poor.

I only lost classifieds that were written in german, with ‘äöüß’ in them.

Just ordinary letters and numbers in my classified. No umlats or special characters to blame.
I made 4 new ads, but at the minimum rate, just so people can find my stores with searching the classifieds. I also duplicated my ads as profile picks, so I can readily create them the next time they go missing, which they are certain to do, and I’m checking them daily now.

I have not recieved any refund and I KNOW I was charged. In addtion this problem goes back a lot further than a week. I have had to renew my ads at least on 3 different occasions over the last month - and each time i was charged - will be be compensated for that - its only fair.

I lost a classified for the 4th or 5th time. This is going to be fixed or what? Lucy Linden told me last week that this was going to be fixed “very soon” “Maybe before the next update”. This morning i just found that i lost another classified… My auto renew box was always checked… but i keep loosing classifieds after being charged for them, and… I didnt get any refund… I wonder if your refund list is having isues too…. How can we promote our business if we pay for classifieds we loose all the time? Can someone from LLs give me an explanation? If you can give me a refund ill be gratefull too….

2 of my ad get deleted again. Is the problem getting fix soon.

For the third time now my classifieds have went missing
can you please inform me what you intend to do about this
I can hardly sustain my SL business with all the lag problems and now you have a bug that is deleting classifieds
SL is a shambles
Get with the program lindens

The defect is not gone and it is getting worse. All of my ads are gone now. Looks like you have a serious defect with the profile database because the picks are disappearing now or reverting to whatever was there based on where you were when you clicked new.
This is a serious commerce impediment. Please fire the people that have been dealing with this area and hire people with business acuyment to run this section of SL. There is just no excuse that can be made for this. The defect is ongoing. Hire the engineers you need to build a database correctly. Thank you.

I noticed all my autorenew classifed are gone. Two for my home rental properties and one for my shop. It’s not the money I am concerned about here, although being charged for something you don’t actually GET is a problem- It’s irritating to me that they are GONE, and now I have to rewrite them, take new pics, etc etc. I mean I have ENOUGH issues just try to run my clothing/skin biz with all the lag, inability to teleport half the time, and my avatar finding all her attachments in her CROTCH after some tp’ing, and SO many more delightful experiences that make me miss my early days here when things USUALLY worked, and when they didn’t, at least someone gave a shat

I just went into my profile to teleport to a vender location in my classifieds and all but 4 have been removed… I normally have about 22 classifeds that i pay for weekly.. this has been going on for over a month now, i place a classified and the next day either that ad from the previous day or a diffrent one VANISHES!! But to take out 18 classifeid ads in a day thats kinda harsh… I have replaced several ads this week and made sure they were on auto renew weekly.. they run a few hours/days and then boom they vanish… We pay for our classifieds to bring us customers… but to take the money and have the system wipe them out is getting bad when it could be resolved maybe ?? I am waisting more lindens every time i have to go back and replace my ads cause of this “bug” I support my family (irl) on my SL income and cant do that when my classifieds are being removed after a few days of paying for them!!!

This problem keeps happening for only ONE of my classifieds. The one that belongs to my store Mission Home Store in the sim named Tilitr. It just happened sometime this/last week again.
I always find out a week later when I notice that the sales have been particularly low for a few days or more. Please fix this bug. I dont want to check my classifieds daily to make sure they’re still there.

My classified disappeared originally when the others did, at the first part of the month, I remade it, and continued paying for it and now its disappeared again, yesterday., You can not believe how very irritatiing this is to me and to all of us who are paying and assuming we will be represented in the classifieds because we have paid to have our stores and clubs and other things visible for future customers to find us. One time was acceptable and excusable but less than a week later again it’s happened? This is totally unexcusable and I feel those of us who are missing our ads should be compensated more than just refunding the money you Lindens have charged us for a service you have NOT supplied. I feel we should have a period of time cost free to run our ads to compensate us for the days we were unreprecented and the extra work of having to resubmit our classifieds to have them published, This will be the third time I have placed my ad, and I would be lying if I said I am not very angry at this time. Please consider a program of compensation for those of us who depended ond you to publish our ads and were left with empty classified pages.

I have stayed off sl for the first time since starting for almost a week now. I was charged 100l for an auto-renewed ad that did not renew. i sent all the info in to Support, their response was form letters that did not adress the issue’s and clearly showed no ome even read my e-mail. Now today i receiev an email come read this see if I qualify. Read this you may lose $150 a month because you Linden choose to beat me out of .04 cents. Now I can’t even view account history in world and cannot hear music on my property. I have been sorely dissappointed but never more than i am now.

heh, my sales through SLex and SLB have been on the rise, but i noticed a sudden drop on inworld sales, checked my slbuzz traffic meter and saw that traffic had dropped to 10% of what it had been BEFORE my ad got deleted.
With all the silly popups, mozilla login screen and tips that LL flashes in front of us I would have expected an issue as large as this to at least be pointed out so we could keep our business performing.
In the end this lack of communication probably cost LL a few $’s since they didn’t recieve weekly classified payment from what is probably a massive number of creators and when our sales slump they probably do not sell near as many L$’s.

My classifieds went missing around the 4th - 6th March I had just created them and they vanished overnight. I emailed support but they said to read here. So wondering will I get reimbursed the $150 Lindens for 3 classifieds that literally poofed within 1 - 2 days of being created???
