We have been in discussions with Paypal over the last week and are happy to report that the bug that was reported has been identified. We were advised by Paypal today that a fix is in the works and slated for load Monday Feb 12th. We should see results from the fix when the biller runs Tuesday morning. We apologize for this inconvenience and again thank you for early reporting of this issue.

Well of course it’s not PayPal Germany, it’s PayPal Europe, based in the Europhobe UK - a good reason not to base a European centre there….

For clarification, what was meant was transactions from Germany via Paypal, not specifically “Paypal (based in) Germany”.

Hi ! It seems that french players - including myself - are unable to use paypal, too. Do you think you could check out if the same fix can be applied to transactions from France via paypal ?

I asked this several times. I can’t use Paypal too wich is funded only by my (dutch)bankaccount. It still asks me to fill in my creditcard info when I try to transfer money from Paypall to SL. Don’t know if this has something to do with the fact that I try this from the Netherlands. But I can’t get this fixed.

Paying is just not posible without a creditcard.
This just sucks, why not pay directly from the users bankacount to lindens bankaccount.
So now you are forsed to use a stupid creditcard where nobody is waiting for, makes no sence to me.
There much better options of paying.

It is a pity that PayPal is the only option. The up to 4% fees for money transaction (seller) is a really anoying and totally outdated. Remember - PayPal only came to success because of the backward US banking systems. It would be a real nice move if LL would allow Germans (and possibly European residents in general) with a valid bank account to optionally use their “Bankeinzugsverfahren” (money automatically debited from user’s bank account). That costs next to nothing.
Acually the Paypal issue is keeping me off buying my own island.
It’s just ethics - why support someone earning on what need not be?
All IMO of couse!
Great job on the game Lindens - Just the time lag still hurting.

What about paypal Japan? SL site says credit processed but my last credit processing didn’t go through on paypal…. maybe this is an isolated incident. Any one else in Asia having these problems?

Processing credits is a seperate function than billing. Processing credits takes 0-5 business days. If you have a question about a specific transaction, please contact billing@secondlife.com.

I think it’s great that Paypal is working with LL to resolve issues quickly but…
Wouldn’t this blog post be even better if it were written in German also? Just looking out for those who can’t read English very well. They have Paypal problems too…

Point of Clarification.
The Financial Services Agency is the UK Government Agency that regulates all companies providing financial services - e.g., banks, insurance companies, building societies etc.
In order to do business in the UK, PayPal will come under the FSA’s regulation - as do all financial service companies. It does not follow that PayPal as a company must have its European head office located in the UK. By stating that they are authorised and regulated by the FSA, PayPal are giving their credentials as a safe and well run business.

Unfortunately, people who signed up using german PayPal didn’t recieve any startup L$. I hope that disadvantage can be solved for those like me.

I cant say this on the new threads about asset server issues, as that thread was closed, which I am frustrated about in itself.
Just want to warn that I have been trying for hours to log in and cant. I was successfull awhile ago but nothing much downloaded, I made the ‘mistake’ of trying to log back in again and now I am back to not being able top log in at all. So maybe more is wrong than asset server issues.
So consider this a heads-up.

About Pay pal. It doe not only work for the one s who try to use pp over germany it does not work for ANY pay pal user!! ANY!!
My husband does not want to use his creditcard in SL so he entered as payment Pay pal. And guess what ???
He can not buy linden on no, no way, he is always directed back to account site/ billing informations.
Athough paypal is noted as pay possibility on account. But using? No.
I think really all pay pal users should be able to buy lindens with pay pal. Otherwise go to (Dreamland) Anshe chung website lol

I use Paypal, too. and I am in Germany.
I also think it is annoying, that I can’t use Paypal in SL if I havent loaded money into my Paypal account. Usually when I use Paypal on other websites, like for example the Thirdparty Lindendollar changer Team-vip, it is possible to pay with paypal and let Paypal simply charge my verified bankaccount.
Thats why I went through the whole verification process, which also took about a week.
I use Paypal since one year. And so far everything was fine. Until I started SL. It takes me always like 3 or 4 days until the money from my bankaccount arrives in Papal. Thats really annoying.
Please Lindens, talk to Paypal and open the simple bankaccount charging (Lastschrifteinzugsverfahren) as a valid option. Usually I have 5000 Euro each month that I can transact through Paypal, without having money loaded in there myself.
