    Correction…Download is running>>>>HOORAY!!!!

  14. 14 Doe Dae Says:

Why don’t you nasty nancy’s just STHU. They are doing their best, and if you can do any better, more power to you. Go make a comperable product that will be much better than this.

  15. 15 Tameryn Banshee Says:

    w00t! I got in. Thanks LL :D

  16. 16 cadaei wilder Says:

He has a right to complain, as does everyone, but it’s a little off topic.

I’m up again, and loving it. Well done Lindens, and thanks for the hard work. Some of us appreciate it.

  17. 17 Loki Ball Says:

thats highly productive cyclone, oh and you spelled accur wrong i think. doesn’t matter if they’re free or not, this blog states the grids reopened, and at least I myself can’t even try to download it from the secondlife site cause the page won’t load, nor will the game through standard login. but thanks for showing some of the new members why people decide not to upgrade their accounts.

  18. 18 Kooky Jetaime Says:

The web downloads are just giving XML pages. Both release client as well as first look.

  19. 19 Dana Hye Says:

SL is crashing during log in. Am I the only one with this problem?

  20. 20 Charissa Korvin Says:

Managed to download the update from the download page. The updater fails to work every time however.

  21. 21 Katie Harlequin Says:

Umm Why Won’t Second Life Load?????? odd -_-

  22. 22 Miguel Nykvist Says:

Ehm… nothing meant by the previous post… i’m just figuring everyone closer to the servers is getting in first… lol
    I LOVE NY :D I Love Everyone :D
(just taking precautions not to aggravate anyone in a bad SL deprivation mood….)

  23. 23 Roger Gaspara Says:

Hmm.. New client downloaded but login fails at Verifying Protocol Version..

    Enable those loginservers, Lindens!

WTG on the changes, I’m sure it will be an improvement. Let them complain! ;-)

  24. 24 Talthybius Brevity Says:

Doe, just curious, how many products or services (online or off) do you pay for and not expect them to work at least 95% of the time you try to use that product or service?

Are you this patient with everything you buy or is LL a special case to you because SL just launched 3 YEARS AGO?

  25. 25 Rob Adelaide Says:

I like how the previous client said it was a problem with MY computer that caused me not to download the new one….that’s nice of you LL - because I can’t get on the internet right now or anything…

  26. 26 iluxxxa Says:

well i still can not get in

  27. 27 cadaei wilder Says:

Oh man. I hope it’s not just the low number of people online, but SL is running blisteringly fast for me right now… If this is the result of the wait, then well worth it.

  28. 28 Stsfuzzybear Hush Says:

Something ‘unexpected’ happened. That’s what it says when login fails. UNEXPECTED to who? It’s right up the usuals.
Haven’t you noticed yet that the number who are logged on is staying ZERO?

Before you open the grid up you really ought to check and see if the login works. And yes I’ve downloaded & installed the umpteenth update.

She walks away mumbling: unexspected, unexpected, mmmuummmblllleeeeee. Shakes her head & goes to dinner. After one more try. addicted.

  29. 29 iluxxxa Says:

when the web page will be done?

  30. 30 Delu Elytis Says:

And now just to wait for First Look to get to 1.13.3.

First look is so MUCH BETTER than the standard viewer.

  31. 31 Questor Sinclair Says:

OK, it won’t let me in and the crash logger just crashed. Not a promising start…

  32. 32 Dovic Battery Says:

Well i tried to get in same as everyone else.. but i got this strange error… failed to log in due to your computer clock maybe set wrong ??

lol the time on my computer is correct for the UK and always is.. wonders even if my clock was wrong how would that stop me loggin on .. anyhows got in while typing this sooo ty Lindens for working to fix things an make SL better.

  33. 33 Miguel Nykvist Says:

    LMAO on 19…. Stsfuzzybear
Man… i’m hanging in the blog from now on… no more 3d for me… this is sooo much more fun. :D

  34. 34 Katie Harlequin Says:

hmmm boing i wish i was easily amused but obviously im not -_- i know u lindens are working really hard and hopefully all of us appreciate that and SL is well worth the wait =)

  35. 35 Tex Nasworhty Says:

This won’t be a popular comment and I certainly don’t intended to paint everyone with the same brush. However, some of you people should get over it already.

  36. 36 Lex Neva Says:

Hey, can someone post the amazon s3 download link once they get past SL’s slow server? Then we can all download the new version.

  37. 37 sherri zheng Says:

So im not the only one who goes to log in and sits at the loading page doing nothing until it finally says not responding at the top bar o.0

  38. 38 Loki Ball Says:

wow this error says that it may be my fault in a round about way, guess i should do what it says and check to make sure my clock and date are set correctly. maybe the syncronizing system thats built in isn’t working properly on my system, i should have checked.

  39. 39 Chrystin Hathor Says:

One thing about SL. It makes Windows look stable and reliable by comparison.

  40. 40 Roger Gaspara Says:

By the way, this is how I spent those 7 hours of non-SL time:
    - Finetuned my BIOS and overclocked my CPU (doing 3,8GHz!)
    - Cleaned my registry, tempfiles, etc.
    - Moved SL to a RAID-array
    - Moved some other stuff to the RAID-array
    - Tuned my graphics card
    - Ran tests
    - Took a bath
    - Actually had a conversation with the woman living in my house calling herself my.. wife?!
    - Found out the cat is still alive
    - Found out that old Volvo I had is still in operation and apparently owned by me

After all, an afternoon (Europe) very well spent!

    Greetings and Have Fun everyone!
    Roger Gaspara

  41. 41 Bo Rossen Says:

    Whey… back online ;)

Way to go guys… thank you so much for your hard work… :D:D:D

Now have a beer on us all LOL

  42. 42 Solar Legion Says:

Standard viewer has the same VBO option as first Look - just buried in the Client menu. First Look’s VBO doesn’t like my computer, but the standard client one does.

    :wating on the download:

  43. 43 Jimbo Says:

SL is just not responding :(

  44. 44 Miche Rainbow Says:

  46. 46 Anya Gapchenko Says:

  47. 47 Katie Harlequin Says:

somethin wrong with second life eh? ohs well i will just have to listen to some music and enjoy this blog ^_^! tehehe

  48. 48 Ishtara Rothschild Says:

Nothing is up or ready to roll. Update download doesn’t work, failed to connect… SL website gives me a “503 - Service unavailable”… same with all links to my account history or download pages. I can’t log in, I can’t access my transaction history, I can’t work or address the service requests of my customers. What do I pay $400 each month for, I wonder?

  49. 49 Leonard Says:

Guess I chose the wrong day to try this thing out…

  50. 50 Hideki Says:

    i’m downloooding…!!!!! :-)
    Thanx

  51. 51 Rena Kuu Says:

I don’t see what this update fixed. This is very disappointing.

  52. 52 Dez Gray Says:

Hum its 5:30pm EST and do you know where your SL is?
I tried to Login but no response from the update, no SL webpage, and no SL…. waits while checking my pc confg settings and will wait to see if its my slow pc LOL

  53. 53 Lex Neva Says:

    http://s3.amazonaws.com/download-secondlife-com/Second%20Life%201-13-3-2%20Setup.exe

  54. 54 sherri zheng Says:

if i re download it will it work it gets to page may appear frozen than it stops responding :( im so confused…

  55. 55 Udo Tuxing Says:

Plz put links to torrents up for the update. This is just lame.

  56. 56 Ziyi Szuyuan Says:

Up and running , thank you Linden. We really appreciate the hard work. Thanks again !

  57. 57 Katie Harlequin Says:

mmmmmmmmmmmmm yummy POPCORN! i love popcorn! sorry so bored lol

  58. 58 Ishtara Rothschild Says:

Well, I’ll play Vanguard for some hours and try again later. I pay SOE $15 monthly, and guess what? Their service works just fine.

  59. 59 sherri zheng Says:

    ooo yay it works…

  60. 60 jolie may Says:

    Oh thank god!

  61. 61 Eddy Ofarrel Says:

A direct link to the download from the Amazon thingy would be handy, as the main website is obviously well overloaded right now :P

Hmmm, mine’s the opposite Solar, VBO works fine in first look, but if I enable it in the normal viewer the graphics go completely insane and it crashes a few seconds later lol

  62. 62 Rena Kuu Says:

All I see, really, are privacy issues being resolved. Nothing to get excited about.

  63. 63 Ishtara Rothschild Says:

Yeah, we appreciate all the hard work, but it would be very nice if we could actually use the service we pay for. Thanks alot, a thousand times, keep up the good work and all that.

  64. 64 Raul Crimson Says:

    Oh! Impossible to log in…
Just the web page is beginning to go, but can’t go on the grid :-(
    Patience…

  65. 65 Rob Adelaide Says:

Well I FINALLY got the auto updater to work. Why is it that blog.secondlife.com is the only branch of secondlife.com that works at all? Maybe you should check on your servers…they’re probably melting.

  66. 66 Wil Says:

Softwares always in development, thanks for keeping that true. I love SL and I’ve only been playing for a week!

Cant wait to see the updates!

  67. 67 wiked weissenberger Says:

Do you think they actually read our blogs???????

  68. 68 Sylvia Sonoda Says:

Crashed at forst TP attemp. So luckely when after a lot and lot of time could get in again I am not gonna TP again and stay home. Probebly another not noticed bug of this new start

  69. 69 Roger Gaspara Says:

People, people.. Do you know what happens if a few thousand people try to access a webserver in a few seconds time, hitting the Refresh-button after a few seconds if the page doesn’t load immediately?

Relax! Get some coffee and try again in a few minutes. The servers are obviously swamped with requests. You can’t expect them to handle this peak-load flawlessly. They need to have a huge array of them servers like NokiaGame had in Amsterdam (1000+ webservers).

Just relax, don’t load or refresh pages quicker than 2 minutes and the servers will soon settle down and be able to handle this peak-load of all those thousands of people wanting to download clients and login.

    ..and remember kids: Have Fun!

  70. 70 Hideki Says:

come on guys!!! we were born in nine months!!!!!

    Thanx again!!!

  71. 71 wiked weissenberger Says:

    im nearly in :)

  72. 72 Loki Ball Says:

roger we can and do expect them to perform the way it should with the amount of people they boast about. its what they’re paid to do, by us.

  73. 73 Katie Harlequin Says:

i am having fun these blogs are very amusing! ^_^

  74. 74 wiked weissenberger Says:

im in im in yay!!!!!! :) :)

  75. 75 Katie Harlequin Says:

    IM IN! ^_^~!

  76. 76 Viajero Pugilist Says:

Lok, your first comment was totally fine–cyclone was talking to the person who posted b4 you.

But all the bitter complaining and insults in this blog get tiresome and aren’t helpful. Pointing out problems is useful, sarcasm and a sense of entitlement to perfection is childish and annoying.

Truth is that Linden is trying to do something that hasn’t been done, and there will be bumps. They are responding better and better in an overwhelming situation, and they are listening better. Critique them hard on their priorities, point out the technical flaws, but remember what a new and awesome thing it is that they’re creating.

  77. 77 Agamemnon Padar Says:

true it is all a bit rocky - as usual - but somehow it is the charm of Second Life. Nobody could say one would be kept from real life by SL. I have read tons of books, wrote a few short stories and practiced playing saxophone while waiting to log into this wonderfull place over the years. Should i be become famous as a writer or musician i will praise Sl for it. So use the time given by Linden and do something usefull. ;)

  78. 78 Jimmie Says:

So, how about a torrent… Did they never hear about that “new” technology???

  79. 79 Adam X Says:

Why do not put install file on Torrent?

  80. 80 Sliv Says:

@Roger Gaspara: *FG* :) you made my day!

and @Lindens: thank you for your work, again!! And doing that communication on this blog to the users!! :D

And to all (ah, ok: some of them), who couldn’t download: instead of blaming SL for the downtime, you should have download the client. … Hey, everyone knows about the downtime before! Here the download worked fine _while_ SL was down!

All the best from europe too,

    Sliv ;)

  81. 81 Roger Gaspara Says:

Loki, normally, the system works just fine. I have a lot of friends that play SL and they are ‘complainers’ too. I have no or very little complaints. Perhaps that is because my conection is a 20mbps connection (although the max. setting in the client is 1.5mbps) and a fairly fast computer with lots of memory and a fast disk.. Who knows..

In any case: the opening of the grid can be considered a special event. Everybody who would be online now is trying to download the client en logging into the system. This creates a massive amount of data and load on the system. You simply cannot expect LL to buy a million $’s worth of systems just to handle a half-hours peak load every two weeks.

Just wait a few minutes between your attempt. Let us do the loadbalancing. Then we’ll all be faster in the system.

  82. 82 Eddy Ofarrel Says:

Hmmm, has something else been changed in this update? It keeps constantly using 100% of my dual core CPU (i.e. both cores), instead of just 50% like it did before, with no improvement to anything as far as I can see right now. Making my fans go crazy :(

Guess I am gonna have to start setting the affinity now then :(

Oh, maybe not, just reloaded SL about 5 times and it seems to have finally gone back to normal… so far lol

  83. 83 Hank Wade Says:

Cant get the downloader to work. Blames my firewall. Stuff happens, just take it easy people. We pay for it, but its just a game.
    Sheeeesh!

  84. 84 Sylvia Sonoda Says:

You at Linden are a bunch over overpaid amateurs. Really. I assumed it had to do with first technique and being the first but not be able to handle a peak of visitors on your normal website and downlaoding features is pure amateur thinking, wrong management or all that money coming in is leaving through the backdoor instead of spending it to what people pay for. No I am not happy that the grid is back on-line. Just a little less angry. SL is still going downhill instead of going up

  85. 85 JL Says:

Anybody for making a .torrent of the setup ?
This system works perfectly in situations like now.

  86. 86 Raina Constellation Says:

you know.. all these ppl have been complaining so much about SL being down, and I just don’t get it? I like the ideas in 25. Instead of waiting around to get back into SL, get up and go DO SOMETHING! Real life always comes first. Period.

  87. 87 Loki Ball Says:

well thats fine and dandy. and it has been done in similar content before, look at the amount of other games online as well, which I also happen to support. I’d gladly give a list of games that suppoprt the same concept and are in the final beta stages that handle load better already. but thats not what i’m here for. and as far as pointing out things in other peoples comments, and being bitter, you my dear viajero just did the same. i happen to crotique them, and add my constructive critisism, whenever i feel. In the hopes as professional business people they see that users aren’t always happy with the way they do things. thus change comes about which it has. so i’ll continue to complain and watch them fix things, with the added pressure that people are anticipating a better service.

  88. 88 Anya Gapchenko Says:

    a link! a link!
    my kingdom for a link!

    :p
    heheh

  89. 89 Annoyed Says:

    Cyclone, baby, i have 2 paying accounts….

  90. 90 Rooke Ayres Says:

Hmmm, Looks like LL’s web servers are overwhelmed. It’s been over 10 minutes now and I still can’t get the home page to load.

    Sigh… :-(

I’ll wait a 1/2 hour for some of the overload to subside. Maybe then I can get to the downloads.

  91. 91 Xuxa Yue Says:

45 minutes later and I can’t download the software. I can’t get to the Support section of the site. I can’t do anything except this…

  92. 92 Eddy Ofarrel Says:

The blog is hosted by WordPress, and the actual SL client downloads are hosted by Amazon, so it’s just the main website (hosted by Linden Labs themselves) which is melting. Once I finally got to the download page, it downloaded fine, and very fast too. So I don’t know why they don’t just post a link here directly to the downloads from the Amazon servers…

  93. 93 zoe hansup Says:

very good roger….that would acceptable in days gone by but even a cretin can work out that the load would be high and plan for it.

about time the lindens got to the new century…..

the problem is they always do things at the last minute, notice issues and need to fix the software at the last minute leading to even more bugs….
they should so things a week ahead and post the client on various sites

yes we all love SL but its always the stupid things that annoy us most, the things that can be fixed easily and yet…

  94. 94 Miguel Nykvist Says:

    /me thinking… peak… i never got more than 30k ppl simultaneous online… if 30k crash the whole system but the blog… humm…
    /me scratches head… :S

  95. 95 Linda Says:

Can’t get to the Support page either.

  96. 96 ForzaCatro Cao Says:

Well, i have a great problem: secondlife.com (the main website) seems down, and i can’t download the new version (in Linux i never can autoupdate sl).

    See you all,

    ForzaCatro Cao

  97. 97 Jim Linden Says:

    http://www.secondlife.com

  98. 98 Andy Says:

    >> You at Linden are a bunch over overpaid amateurs.

Dang, if that’s true, then they’re pretty amazing amateurs, Sylvia. Don’t throw insults around when you don’t have a clue what you’re talking about. As somebody who works in database design professionally, I’m astounded by how robust their systems actually are. I wouldn’t want their asset load to juggle.

  99. 99 Talthybius Brevity Says:

The web server can’t even handle the load, much less the grid.

Someone with some skilled development, QA and management staff please buy SL ASAP!

Please put an end to amateur hour so SL can get off of the ground and be what it has the potential to be!

  100. 100 Nox Chamerberlin Says:

I cant even get IN the website.

  101. 101 Papillon Chatnoir Says:

Unable to download through auto updater, it is blaming my firewall. Turned it off and tried again … SAME THING! It suggests I should download it from website, I would do if I can get it to load up *sighs*

  102. 102 Enrico Says:

I support the idea of torrent files to download the client…

  103. 103 War Pidgeon Says:

Maybe a mirrored download page would have been in order? I thank LL for the feelings of self-righteousness I get when encountering problems whose solutions are obvious even to a know-nothing hack like me! After all, it does take one to know one doesn’t it?

  104. 104 Miss Vandeverre Says:

*sighs* This didn’t happen when I was obsessed with World of Warcraft :(

I gotta get back to my rp sim on sl…and I can’t download the new version either *sadness ensues, she hangs her head and walks away crying*

  105. 105 Miguel Nykvist Says:

    Second Life Installer
    Windows 2000/XP: 1.13.3.2 (30MB)

    (Webpage… should i get that one?…)

Auto-update finally running… let’s see… i’ll keep you posted, thankyou for your patience friends :D

  106. 106 Fenleab Says:

I thought my internet was crapping out on me, till I waited 10 minutes for it to load the main page that looked like a 10 year old build it….What did LL do?! It looks like someone decided to hack the crap outa everything.

  107. 107 Dez Gray Says:

Ok here is what I get when I try to get the update and it gets ready to load but then I get an Error Message so not sure if it is me or is there something new in place with the firewall system? Never had this problem before?

    Error Message

The Second Life auto-update has failed.
The problem may be caused by other software installed
on your computer such as a firewall.
    Please visit http://secondlife.com/download/
to download the latest version of Secondlife.

However when I attempt to use the download link nothing happens there either….

    Any insight on this?

  108. 108 Anya Gapchenko Says:

ok, there’s no need to be snarky here.
maybe SL should make some gum or a patch for us to use for our withdrawals while they work on stuff. hehehehe

if someone gets access to the download page, maybe he or she could be so sweet as to copy it here for us? i’m sure the lindens are running around enough without checking this every 2 seconds like we are. :)

pretty please with sugar on top? :)

  109. 109 Henri Beauchamp Says:

And the particles and inventory bugs are still there… Introduced in SL v1.13.2(11), reported many times, and still not fixed… :-(

  110. 110 Jimmie Says:

Well, MAYBE you could search in google, find the cached text version of the download page, look for the link, and change the client’s version number to 1.13.3.2…. Just try it… Downloaded mine in 2 minutes :)

  111. 111 Selene Says:

Yall just can’t win can ya? LOL Nothing seems to go smoothly regarding SL anymore :(
As of right now I can’t even get the website to load to try and download update that way nor can I get it by trying to log in game.. I get the failed message. Also my husband is still pretty peeved he can’t play SL on his pc now that he’s upgraded it to vista. Glad I didn’t upgrade to vista.
Oh well just wanted to put my 2 cents in. Hopefully things will go better in the future updates O.o And for gosh sakes pllleaaseee hurry up with vista compatiability will ya ;D lol

  114. 114 Anya Gapchenko Says:

Why is it that anything that is not positive posted on these blogs has to be met with comments about the poster being a Newbie and proabbly not a premium member? I am a newbie and and not a premium member, but I do own land in SL and I am here for the long haul and I do spend my money with those who are not newbies in SL, and I will be a premium member just as soon as I find a piece of land on the mainland that is suitable and frankly the crashes and lost articles and lag and huge waste of RL time due to system overload are frustrating.

    For some of us fun in second life is also business in Sl and wated time is wasted money. We are trying to build businesses or attend business in SL. and its frustrating to hear that the grid is up and not be able to download the update through the SL application or the web and the web being nearly impossible to reach does not build a lot of confidence in the new updates;

Newbies are the future of SL’s growth or do you just want to keep it a “good ole boy” elite group of elders?

I am sure glad that in my second life experience in world the people I have met were welcoming to me as a newbie and I had that expeerience before ever reading these blogs or I would never have stayed.

Heh. Spent the whole week waiting for a new Macbook, Got home to realise SL was down, and still my raging enthusiasm didn’t tempt me to try to login for the first hour of SL grid uptime.

So if I can stand it after 2 moths of wading in lag soup on a crappy CPU, how come the standard slew of blogbitchers can’t wait ’til the grid’s been open a sec before logging in en masse and bitching some more?

    …….Gah.

    oh… i got through with the auto-updater though… didn’t test that one lol… :D

  119. 119 Beebee Says:

I can’t load the update and can’t get to secondlife.com. Suggestion: Hire REPAIR techs instead of I HAVE A COOL IDEA techs. Sorry but there were over 300,00 playing concurrently last night at another site. This is starting to look like an experiment that failed. Please get repair techs, this is getting unbearable. How about a fix *when needed* and an update once every three months? Anything has to be better than this. Sorry.

Well, it’s now nearly an hour since the supposed reopenning, and i can neither connect via auto-download nor can I get to the secondlife.com site.

I realize that lots of folks have complained, so I won’t add my two cents in that regard, but consider this a timestamp.

/Me thinks that LL just got hit with the “demand-is-way-higher-than-we-ever-expected” syndrome.

It’ll take some time and a lot of money before this problem goes away.
