[Resolved] teleporting and asset issues

I didn’t have any troubles with those things specifically - but i noticed packet loss at a constant 10 percent in my completely empty island sim. Related I suppose.

Had problems logging in, system was logging me out.
Had to teleport to mainland to teleport anywhere else.

With all due respect, asset problems (e.g. problems with object contents, rezzing objects, attaching objects etc.) started around 4-5 hours ago. As they did yesterday as well. As soon as it gets to ~21,000 online things become pretty flaky.

Anyone get this, editing an attahcment, it disappeard, went to inventory and detached object, and tried to re-attach to stomach and get Can’t attach multiple objects message. Did a detach all, and could reattahc all else, but NOT stomach. Still have this problem. can’t attache anything to stomach nore is anything there according to the UI. Relogs no effect

I get to spend maybe a few hours on two days of the week online, and of that, a good 5 hours on SL in any good week. Of those 5 hours, in the last 2 weeks, I have not been able to TP or see my textures at all - to TP I have to log off and then log back in to where I want to go. Back to a free account for me…

Well 2 or 3 weeks ago I posted and said if things didn’t improve I would close my businesses and tonight is the point where I give up.
I have just set my land and stock for sale. Quants2 is closing down. I will drop back to a 512M holding (or how I feel now, maybe even a free account and save the $72 fee).
Without content and things for the free accounts to do, SL will not survive. LL should have restricted all membership until it could cope. It is a shame to see something as beautiful & unique as SL die slowly..I will just close my eyes for a few months and hope SL pulls through.

I lost items too…. again…. and after 6 requests to get them back since november (noone of which i got ANY reponse too btw, wtg Linden for not even bothing to answer your customers) this is costing me REAL money okay?
I work hard for my cash and i dont like to see my cash go down the drain because you think it’s okay to mess with people their belongings….

Not even close to being resolved, tried to walk across a sim border, a form of tp, and now any move I make sends me off drifting for a minute or more. Normally I am a supporter, if a bit of a critical one. But TPs have been screwed up for a week.
This is a core feature. SL is useless with tp. Quit messing with Blogs and other fru fru, and get this fixed!!!!!!!

Well although I can see that this isn’t exactly the easiest setup in the world. One thing I suggest, along with many others, don’t act like you saved the world when the teleports start to “work” again. We all know by recent weeks, months? that this will only come back again and again and again. SL is great and all, but there is money lost for the user when TPs dont work on the busiest days. THE WEEKEND! I’m hoping, PRAYING, that you guys are coming up with a real solution. My heart says yes, but my mind is starting to doubt things. Especially when I just forked out immense amounts of cash for over priced property.

With SL expanding faster than expected its natural to have strain problems. It’s also easy to say stop moaning to someone who is complaining, but in reality that person isn’t the one trying to log in or teleporting. I have had problems teleporting and yes it is very annoying, and when annoyed reason goes out of the window. We have all experienced it and we should all remind ourselves that SL is so complex and it has moved so far in such a short space. it not only has the problems of a MMOPRG but also the problems of a 3D editing program. Yes there are bugs in the building side of the game that have been there since the beginning, like different shapes not snapping to the same grid and texturing grouped objects.
The problem lies in the fact that more and more people are creating accounts and Scond Life is growing. As soon as they fix one problem or bring in a new server, they have another 3000 people wanting to log in. It’s a visious circle that needs money spent on it to keep ahead of the game. Those that don’t have a premium account go and get one and help support the Engineers working on the problems.
Those peopel quick to jump at people who complain. Have some tolerance. You don’t see Linden snapping back, it’s professinalism and they also know its just venting which has no heart behind it. If you are at the point that you find Second Life is causing you too much rage, log off and read a book, play a game or like what I do… read some SL articles.
What I would like to see is an Offline building tool that lets you build. It doesn’t have to have import export tools, just a program that lets you practise building stuff while offline.
Well thats my 20p worth of information. Keep at it Linden. It’s annoying as you know, but we also support you in your battle against growing popularity.

Matty, i dont care about the new people who come in SL, i care about the fact that i spend REAL cash on SL and expect service in return. I do not expect my items to be lost, not beeing able to log in, not beeing able to go anywhere and not getting any service.
People who don’t spend a dollar on SL should not complain at all, those who do have every right to complain. If i buy something in a store and it’s not working i don’t accept it, why should it be ok for the Lindens to mess up?

Um, my problems are not resolved. I’ve been locked out of my home Sim, Rivula for several hours now.
I am unable to walk, fly or teleport into the Sim, and the wonderful Chiyo Linden who responded was unable to reboot the Sim because she couldn’t get to it either.
This might not be directly related to the above problem, but Chiyo seemed to think it was…
Please? Could I get a reboot? She said she contacted the Tech Support people, but that was as of 14:03 PST, and I still can’t get into the Sim, unless I log in there, and then the asset server didn’t seem to be reaching it, as L$, and inventory were not showing up the last two times I tried.

You only know your end of the story and that’s the problem. I have lost objects but I get them in the end so what’s the rush?
If you are really that unhappy about it then you can transfer all your Linden Dollars to US and then play another game. For the time being, until the popularity balances out these problems will be here for a while. Its an unpredicatble path to take trying to battle things that you don’t know where and when they will appear.
I doubt you have experence in the source code for Second Life. We have to trust the engineers that they are doing their best. if they were not doing their best, then SL would have crumbled away right from the start. Give them a break, let them fix the problems rather than pull people off the more important tasks to deal with customer complaints.

Well i can modify my house from the region next to it… but i still can’t get into my region… when i do try, i’m off like a powerwalker on speed. all i need is the benny hill music to set it off. I know these things take time… and sure they are working reallly hard…but i’m not seeing any changes sorry!

I cannot teleport into or out of Whinlatter which is where my home is. I also cannot fly or walk into the region. I would say that it’s not even close to being “resolved”

Hmm, My Huddle and half my other scripted items have either stopped working or slowed to a snail pace or the contents wont load.
I spose if the asset server is (once again) borked then that might explain it, but this problem is annoying.

I’m one of the folks with a free account. I won’t go for a premium account until I am comfortable with the grid. Its not that I want to freeload - I’d love to own land - but there are so many problems that I don’t want to risk the cash investment.
Lindens - SL is fantastic - I love it - but when will it be a reliable site? I know its growing so fast, and I am patient.
Please don’t blame us new residents - I know the 23k people online are overloading the system - but some of us want to take part in this economy, and feel unsure.

Matty, I understand that the problems are caused by the high number of new accounts. What you don’t seem to grasp, is that was not an accident. LL dropped verification, right before a world wide publicity campaign. Or did you think that was all a coincidence???
They were not ready for the influx, they knew damn well they weren’t, and they went ahead and did it anyway. My assumption was it was not a tech decision to do this, but driven by investor pressures. But that doesnt make it any more palitable.
The problem as I see it, is one of priorities and focus. Since they are not going to restrict accounts in anyway.. they need to turn all attention to the core issues… movement within SL, and the DB. Until those things are fixed, SL is going to get more and more useless for longer streches of time, and lose more and more core content creators, until it looks like Active worlds, emtpy and nothing but 3d chat.
Multiverse is coming… LL had better be stable when it does…

Why is it that everytime we get an announcement like this it truns out not to be true? Having major TP and sib border crossing issues. If you’re going to declare something fixed you really need to make sure it is or you lose all credibility.

Yikes!! Multiverse??? you gotta be kidding!! Just to see what the competition was like, I signed up for an account over there.. I strongly suspect SL even back in the alpha days wasn’t that cheesy.. I can’t believe I’m saying this: but as bad as SL is getting, its light-years ahead of any competition at this time… I used to be a premium landowner but sold my land and dropped back to basic, as like so many others, got really tired of paying for something that only halfway worked a good part of the time….

I just get so tired of the “Close the free accounts” stuff. It seems everytime there’s a problem, A large segment of residents start to spout this. Sure SL’s growth has been amazing, but closing the free accounts will not solve any of these problems.

MV is early beta, and aw does not have the tools. Neither is close to what SL is.. at the moment. But if you think they are going to sit back and watch $$ go to someone else, you are wrong. And you can bet they are watching and learning as we blog.
I love SL. The potential here is awesome. But I have had to drop several major projects, because frankly, it worked much better in Aug than it does now. Oh sure, I can see you typing in IM. But half the time I can’t tp to you if you offer. At the moment I can’t leave my sim without logging, I can’t build because prims keep moving, packet loss is running in the 10’s, bandwidth into SL is barely 200K, though I have 6 meg to the world, And I get ” Not in the DB” errors on stuff in my inventory that I created last night.
I am a supporter, I praise here when LL gets it right. The whole SL concept is terrific. Now if LL would just ignore the pressure from inside for a week, and put everyone on the routing and DB stuff, maybe things would smooth out.

I’ve been saying this alot lately, but this time I mean it. I’m going back to free. I’ve been paying for 2 years now and I’m sorry but 2 years ago when I first started playing the game with a computer that didn’t even meet the minimum requirements it ran better than it has in the last 6 months. I understand wanting SL to grow with potential of them becoming paying members, but you’ll lose everything if you don’t take care of your paying ones. Then what will you have? Think about that…

Resolved my foot. 5:20 SLT. No one can rez properly, Linden Dollar values are invisible, rezzing and teleporting are impossible. I have work to do (work I pay the bills with) and I don’t appreciate a service I paid for being so unreliable.

If it’s not too much trouble, would you please let my client software and assets know about the resolution?
I’ve had every conceivable login error message trying to get back on after crashing, appeared as my flight stick and a bit of bling, landed at 10,10,10 on Prim, TP failing, you name it.

What is going on with this place. I am truly at a loss how we got soooo messed up.
I am so truly dissappointed in the way things are being handled. I don’t want to give up on SL. But can’t see dealing with much more of this. Everything I like about SL is currently broken.
I mean really, whats the point. With the way things are at this moment, SL offers absolutely nothing but an empty promise. It is such a sorry situation. I am truly at a loss as to what to do next.

Well 5:20pm, not resolved at all. Most tp’s fail. Can’t tp to Home at all. I need to find a new shop - can’t tp anywhere. I also need to config my JEVN, can’t get home to do that either.
This is intolerable. Happens every weekend when the monkeys go to play in the sand, and we’re stuck with the mess until Monday. Worse, it is happening earlier in the weekend, for me 24 hours ago. Relogging doesn’t work. The only way is to relog and type in the region.
So basically you can’t do anything serious whatsover at the weekend.
On top of that I lost my house and main shop when unscrupulous landlords terminated leases without warning, and auto returned everything when I was offline, and with Linden’s marvellous database technology that means there are items missing that never came back to L&F, some from New Year’s Eve, and from Wednesday I got one item back out of 50.
So LISTEN, LOOK and LEARN.
Stop frivolity, freeze new accounts, freeze new bug ridden updates until you have FIXED inv problems, tp problems, db issues and network issues.
And maybe you can explain something: when it was 2.1 million users, it was 800,000 in last 60 days. Now it’s 2.56 and 880,000. So 380,000 more new accounts than have logged in the last 60 days? Could be true, maybe they can’t log in at all…
But thanks to the marvellous stuff they’re smoking at Linden, I fully expect to see an apology on Monday: Sorry guys tps were messed up the entire weekend - but hey, we got 25k concurrent, ain’t we wonderful?

Note to Lindens: the SEC could give a damn about your TOS. If you are raising money, and not fully disclosing what the heck is going on, you are very likely to be in breach of various securities laws, accredited investors or no. Might want to ask your securities counsel if there is any truth to what I am saying.

Problems such as not receiving purchased items have been and still are being reported since yesterday. Also defective av texturing.
Was the problem one that has a geographical location, like it was a problem in San Francisco or Texas?

OK so if you fixed it why cant i tp to my club in hadong. this really is getting stupid now. you want all the people to join sl but whats the point if they cant see it. Do somthing LL and do it fast. These things dont appear to be fixed at all, I just logged in to huge amounts of lag on an empty island sim that I’ve not known to lag…ever. Packet loss was high and oh lord I just crashed. I really dont think there is that many people logged on.
I think its a simple math fix on there side to use as an excuse for
the problems.
Very simple to add something like this.

ive started this game about a year and half ago.
Kinda think they are simply rolling this version of sl down the road on borrowed time tell they release a shocking new Second Life 2.0 or something like that.
People complain way to much about this for someone with real business reasoning to put off like this. There has to be some reason
for why they are so busy and not responding to emails and bug fixes and what ever , Second Life needs a HUGE makeover and im currently keeping my fingers crossed for Second Life 2.

No, it is most certainly NOT resolved. In fact, I cannot think of anything declared resolved on this blog in recent memory that has in fact been resolved.
Perhaps LL should manage expectations a little better by saying “ANNOUNCEMENT: Works on my machine!!!”

7.53, tp is still buggered. Managed to tp twice in an hour after many retries, now i’m stuck at a club and can’t go home. Lukcy me, tomorrow i’m gonna be offline so i’m going to be spared the worst of the pain…

The Lindens can’t fix this. They keep saying they do but funny how they NEVER see it coming the next time it happens. Preventative measures here would be nice… but it seems nobody over there’s thought about that too hard.

Issues NOT resolved:
- Scripts won’t save
- Objects not rezzing
- Avatar won’t stop running
- sim dissappeared
- crashed twice
And most importantly, my IMs to the Help Request are NOT going through. At least nothing is showing in the IM window once I type and hit enter. I have also had no response.

THIS SUCKS!!!! I have NEVER had so many problems as I am tonight…you guys didn’t fix anything…you screwed it up more…dammit we pay plenty for our subscriptions and all our stuff on SL…and 1/2 the time stuff don’t work…when are you guys gonna either cut the price or fix stuff for real?????
I am a manager at a club here…I have events tonight and can’t get in to pay employees or run my business…you people are pathetic!

Anyone else here notice all these TP 10,10,10 problems & inventory problems dissappeared when they upgraded their ADSL speed?
I used to have all these problems but now can hop about just fine other than Amsterdam being too crowded to TP out.Many of the same people here seem to have the same problems continually, I was one of them till I worked out it was my ADSL speed dropping when I hit my monthly limit and it would all come good again every time my plan reset each month.
In my case what were the Lindens supposed to fix?

Would a Linden please update the blog, things are NOT fixed and people would like to know what you are doing, considering we are paying you for a service we have not been recieving for a number of hours now.
This is costing me money. I have been patience now but this is just ignorence. I know the Linden do not mean to be but they really should take note of what people are saying and acknowledge them at least.

I logged in after the post saying “Resolved” came up, and all of my objects in my inventory are GONE!!! WTF!!!! I have spent a lot of RL $$$ getting things to build a huge club with and now they simply arent there?
I am willing to bet that the huge amount of in-game griefers started out as loyal players, and then LL lost them a bunch of money.
What happens when IBM, Sony, Circuit City, etc… loses all their objects? Will they post here? I doubt it, most likely they will pull their multi-millions of if USD they are putting into it.

Guys, I don’t know who your support manager is, but if this happened in my company, he’d be taken out and shot.
This makes you look seriously bad and unprofessional, and I know you’re neither, so PLEASE give some sign of life on the blog, at least to tell us “sorry guys, we’re working on it, doesn’t work yet”. People are annoyed because it doesn’t work, yes, but they’re mostly annoyed at the lack of communication. I know I am.

Although things seem “better” they’re still not resolved and no blog update now in 6 hours.. something tells me the “1 person to handle communications on a rotating system each week” isn’t working .. unless nobody’s actually working this weekend in which case it’s a failure in multiple departments..

Well, this is obviously the work of malign and sinister intent. I can see this boardroom full of Lindens, all wearing black turtlenecks, Torley with a watermelon eyepatch, smoke curling from the cigarette snug in its shiney black holder. Philip sits at the head of the table, wearing a silver suit with a white cat purring contentedly on his lap while the vile group bellows crude laughter as they read the pleading cries for help from the helpless SL residents.
Vektor Linden pulls a lever and thousands more primbabies are plummeted into the framerate halting torrent of the partical furnaces deep beneath the grid, as Joe Linden opens a chestplate to dispense more coffee to the grid’s cruel overlords.
Yes, it all makes perfect sense. All that nonsense and technical jargon the computer geeks have been spouting does seem a bit contrived, after all.

Ok, my next comment is going to be boo’ed down, but I really don’t care at this point.
The Grid has had problems recently, a *lot* of problems, and the Lindens are able to keep a happy face on, and attempt to deal with the problems. This isn’t just like there is one server here, there are LOADS of servers.
What I think personally, although this may not be the best course of action, is for the Lindens to get here and stand up for themselves. Lindens, you honestly do not have to keep your happy face on with this. You get frusterated, people keep, and since I can’t think of another word, WHINING about this won’t work, that won’t work, while you are trying to fix the problem. You can’t find anything relevent to help you fix this in the blog, because its filled with “FIXXXX SLLLL” or “Im going back to basic this is the worst i’ve seen in SL”.
What i think would be good for all of us, is for one of the Lindens to just let go, put a post on this blog that tells us to STOP WHINING WHILE THEY ARE TRYING TO FIX IT, in those exact terms.
Okay, yeah, just getting frusterated at some people. Yes, I pay too, and I deal with the problems. Yes , for the people who might make a living off this game, that may be problems, but thats just it. Things happen, there is a big influx of accounts, and they are TRYING to remedy the database to support it. Bear with them.

Nothing is fixed. its remained screwed up all day. its still screwed up everywhere i have been able to get to after many many tries. that new backbone system doesnt work so you guys need to just rip it back out.

oh and by the way it appears sl is down now. oh wait it just takes 10 minutes to connect. and one second in sl takes about 5 rl minutes to tick off so it appears sl has severe clocking issues. try timex digital display watches for timing. they take a kicking and keep on licking lol.

Everything is most definitely not kosher.
I can’t TP, nor can my friends, and every. single. thing. in my inventory has disappeared after SL spontaneously crashed because I tried to pan the camera.
It’s not a user error or a problem with my PCs specs, but I almost wish it was.
