Grid is now Open for Everyone - All Affected Regions are Back Online
Monday, January 1st, 2007 at 7:26 PM by: micklinden[09:53pm PST] We’ve finished bringing back online the last of the few regions that were affected by the outage, some of which required some manual intervention. Thank you for your patience, and all systems are back to normal. -Pathfinder Linden
[09:00pm PST] Summary of outage: At approximately 7:00pm PST, a Gigabit Interface Converter (GBIC) Module responsible for parts of our network connectivity at one of our colocation facilities failed, causing a number of regions in Second Life to drop off the network and log out anyone connected to them. We switched the Grid over to “Linden logins only” while our colocation facility worked to replace the hardware. The component was replaced, network connectivity was restored, and we opened the Grid again to everyone at 8:23pm PST. A few of the affected regions are still down, and we are currently working to get them back online. We’ll keep you updated. -Pathfinder Linden
[08.23pm PST] Network connectivity is restored. We’re opening the doors for everyone to log in. We are continuing to monitor the situation, and will keep you updated in this post. Thank you for your patience. -Pathfinder Linden
[08.07pm PST] Our colocation facility is working to restore network connectivity. If you were on a region affected by the outage, you probably were logged out when the region lost connectivity. Second Life logins are still restricted to “Linden logins only,” and we’ll keep you updated. -Pathfinder Linden
