[...] Our world has been having one big long hiccup since as far back as I can remember; with constant database problems, and various other bugs and glitches. And; yet again the Lindens are planning on another update the 3rd update in two weeks time. I can only thank the gods that there isn’t a slew of new features just mainly bug fixes. But; the buzz around town is that there are tons of bugs in this upcoming update. Joy just what we need more bugs, because we all know that the Lindens won’t get to all of them in time for the update this Wednesday. Maybe I am just sounding a bit cynical, but how long are they going to continue to let the grid (our world) remain in this condition? ponyexpress, instant+messages, second+life, linden+labs Permalink [...]

Thank you all for the feedback - I'm going to turn off comments now for this blog post. We do understand the frustration with the recent issues we've had. In order to help with these issues, we need to put out new updates with bug fixes. For example, the bulk of this release are fixes to problems we already have, we've been highly focused on both scaling the system and fixing the bugs quickly.

Let's hope for the best on this go around.

Trying to successfully run a Group with Notifications and Proposals not operational - painful to say the least. Much of the fundamental operation of marketing and communication revolves around Notifications and Proposals that are consistent and predictable - but that inherently requires FUNCTIONALITY.

I agree with all that have stated 'enough is enough'! Put a frickin stake in the ground for crying out loud and stop with developments for 4 or 6 weeks - work on stability and performance first. Do this and you'll regain some of the client confidence you've steadily allowed to erode since October.

Enough can't be said for testing...but also...don't let the expectation for take some kind of REV ROLL action prompt you guys to push inferior code prematurely.

Beta Grids can not make up for a lack of process control...

For those of you (yes, all two of you) that think I am against updates, I guess I have to question how long you have been a citizen of SL.
Because if you've been here for the better part of just this year, you'd know that we've gone though many, many updates.....each professing that they were going to fix something and yet all they do is introduce new bugs.

If you think that the bug fix list stated at the top will actually fix all of the bugs and not introduce different ones, then you most likely have a lot to learn.

Sorry to be so pessimistic, but I've been dealing with these "fixes" for too long now apparently.

Like everyone else I'm anxious to come home tomorrow and try to logon to SL.. Last time I couldn't do anything for real in 2 days.

But, like most I also expect that this update will fix some of the bugs we've all been complaining about (it's funny how some people want bugs to be fixed but don't want updates to realize that). Especially SL client & sims crashing for now apparent reason.

For the next 2 months or so... Please do not introduce new features, do not introduce new gizmo's, but limit yourselves to fixes so the grid (and our hapiness) is more stable. Allthough I have a long wishlist of what I'd like to see added, I'd rather wait a few months to have a stable grid before moving on.

Good luck guys - get your sleep tonight :)
