[UPDATE] Partnership problems

[Dec. 5 @ 12:55 PM PST] We’ve found a new Partnership bug.
We earlier had residual issues where some Residents couldn’t Partner — the requests would keep sending you back to the same page, or in occasional cases, you’d get a “blank screen”.
Thanx to Jim and Morpheus Linden, a fix for Partnering is done. I’ve just confirmed with some happy couples.
If you’re still experiencing problems with Partnering, please contact our Support with details, including your Second Life name and who you’re trying to Partner with. I’ll post updates as news comes.

Tiara, I indeed see you partnered to Luciano Caledonia. Congrats.
Looks like some changes just aren’t visible; on the off-chance, can you try Edit menu > Preferences > Network tab and press “Clear Cache” and see if that does anything?
For a more thorough clearing, close SL, go into:
C:\Documents and Settings\[WINDOWS USERNAME]\Application Data\SecondLife\cacheand delete everything in there. Then login again.

Proposed partnership to my RL hubby, paid the $10L, then all h*** broke look right after the upgrade. He nevere received anything resembling a partnership request from me. We feel for you guys, he’s a Systems Analyst and feels your pain. He’s feeling mine too though…I even got the ring inworld!

Uhm, Torley, in case you haven’t noticed….only lindens can start blog entries, and you always start them such that the communication is one-way…you to us…or worse, only the ‘Isn’t LL nice and wonderful!’ type players can post (you deem everyone else ‘non-constructive’).
There is NO REAL WAY for the players to make their point of view known but to post off-topic, thanks to the killing of the two-way communications of the forums and replacement with this rather poor and ultra-LL controlled ‘talk at the player and whine about offtopic when they talk back … unless they are sucking up by telling us how wonderful we are / shouting down other players with complaints’ blog.
People will stop going offtopic when you give up the dictatorial control of the medium and allow for two-way conversations rather than one-way, initiated by LL, and stage-managed to silence all but (to be frank, moderate me if you wish) the LL tail-kisser chorus that always supports you.
Now as to the partnerships….yeah, again priorities screwed on backwards. This is useless in day to day play, compared to search. Never fails, LL concentrates on the Trivial first every time…and mouths platitudes about ASAP.

Here I go off-topic again. Why? Because I believe in educating the angrily ignorant, so they’ll stop cluttering up the airwaves.
Maklin, the Lindens, like Britain’s Royal family, do not deign to answer abusive posts, so I will. Nothing constrains me, after all.
First: This blog is a place for official announcements. They don’t have to let you comment here, in fact I’m amazed they do. Off-topic posts are why I’m amazed they allow dialog in an announcements post. And yes, I see the irony in this post.
However, there IS a venue here to complain or comment about anything SL. It’s the Forums. At the top of your screen, click on Community, then at the left, Forums. Choose a forum, like Linden Answers (you can ask your pointed questions there), Features Voting, or Features Suggestions. There’s also technical support, etc. Some of the forums, depending on their nature, do not allow others to comment on your post, some do. Go there, start your own topics, have a ball.
Also, there are various popular blogs and forums by residents on their own sites. I have no doubt that they are regularly read by some Lindens. See Community Resident Sites, also in the Forums.
Second:
There is not just one group of “Lindens” working on SL. There are various teams, as in ANY software development project. I’m sure the team now working on solving the problem has pulled in as many other people from other projects as are useful. There is a definite upper limit to the number of people a project can use before they start getting in each other’s way, duplicating effort, or creating a “left-hand, right-hand” situation. In the meantime, those people who would not be useful in helping with the crisis are going about their regular tasks.
That’s why ‘trivial’ things are getting fixed - they were in the pipeline for fixing, and the people who were working on them can’t contribute to the current emergency. Also, these other teams can take over on the ‘minor’ emergancy matters, freeing as many key programmers to work on the big problems as is feasable.
How do I know this? Guess what I used to do for a living…not for LL, though. I’ve had to juggle limited resources in this kind of emergency, and still ended up with extra people who couldn’t be put to work on the crisis.
And finally, you say, “Now as to the partnerships….This is useless in day to day play…”. I’m pretty sure that partnerships are important to the people in them. I’m guessing you’re not one. Try not to put down your fellow residents, it kills any chance of getting them to support you.
And before you call me a, “LL tail-kisser”, I’ve ranted about LL a few times, I don’t think they’re godlike, and in many ways I think they’re really, really bad at making policy. Don’t get me started…too late. “Copybot”. ’nuff said. But then again, I’m not there, I don’t see what goes on behind the scenes. There may be as good a reason for these things as there is for fixing small stuff during an emergency.
So, as you feel some of these issues are important, perhaps you would be so kind as to go to the Forums, and post your ideas on how to solve them.

I have not been able to use partner. I have done EVERYTHING in here suggested. We have written to support, talked to live help and cleared cashe. Still nothing. Live help said wait for support. Support wrote to us one and said to send emails from both of us that we wanted to be partnered together. We did this…went so far as to write the email together and send it at the same time, count down and everything. We can consecutive ## and an auto reply. Still no responce. We have been emailing and asking around since last week…nothing.
So support is up? What about those of us doing everything we can to follow your rules and do it by the book and don’t get a responce from anyone? I am a paying customer, paying a load of money each month and all I want to do…the only thing I have asked so far from LL is to be partnered.
Is that to much? Will someone even bother getting back to me here?

Hi.. I send a partnership proposal several days ago to my love. But she not get it. Maybe wrong email or something like that. We met evryday, and she still not get it. Anyway there was a text about 9 December expired my suggestion. So i thougth I can get a newer one after. But now there no date at all and only text that I already send a proposal my charming lady and can’t use anymore. Thinks you need make availability for sending notone time to one avatar? maybe 2 otr no limits at all. It nothing changes inour relationship but it realy good to be married, that others not dusturb us seeing we in law.

Still can’t partner here, either. Paid for a partnering request, saw the $10L disappear, but he never received the request. Have emailed and tried live support, clearing the cache, etc.

Damn it… This time my partner try send me a proposal but have the same text. “Your proposal send and… and waiting…No expire date, no resending. NO OPTIONS at all. How can we stop this HELLl? Is it so difficult to share the group of two avatars and make them privilegical rights to changing and using the other half have? Wonder of that… >:( If 10L is to cheap we can pay our last money i;m sure everybody here wants that like us make the same.
She was disapointed of that last evening. I saw tears in her shiny star eyes. That lag is cruel. Thought what I wonder RL always cruel.

I’m so disappointed in this whole situation. Like Melody and her partner, Michelle and I have sent countless e-mails and done everything required of us to supposedly resolve the Partner problem. We’re in the same kind of Loop from Hell that others are experiencing. Add to that the fact that I also am experiencing the unresolved “Parcel Full” problem which is sending me countless e-mails….and I look at every one of them hoping that MAYBE it might be the Partner e-mail. (Yes….TWO Bug Reports have been sumbitted on the Parcel Full thing). Even an e-mail directly to you, Torley, has been ignored like all the others. I’m beginning to think that the Lindens are taking a page from Microsoft, hoping that people might pay for service….to actually have contact with someone. Either that or everyone had a prior career in some government bureaucracy where these kinds of interpersonal skills were learned. I don’t see an end to this for Michelle and me. I think the proposal was to expire today, but it’s still not possible to initiate a new one because the Loop still has control. As I said, what a disappointment.

Though all this occurs so hidden. Whether It is possible to read through somewhere about additional possibilities of partnership, except for unique difference which I have seen is a line in a ptofile?
It would be logical to assume, that partners can have the one inventory to both, and allow to use objects, poses and clothes each other. As a special sign on trust it would be desirable to have an opportunity to allow to read to my partner that I write in IM, certainly if I shall resolve such.
