Second Life 1.12.2 Open
Wednesday, October 11th, 2006 at 12:05 PM by: Jeska LindenWe have just updated to Second Life 1.12.2, which is now available for download. Please note, this is a required update and you will need to update your software before accessing Second Life. The full release notes are available here.
There are two known issues with this release:
- The “rename all items in folder” option found in the Appearance “Make Outfit” feature has been removed from this release, but will return in a future release.
- Some Mac users may experience an error with the autoupdater and will need to go to the Download page and install the new version manually. (background on this here).
If you experience any additional issues, please report them via the in-world bug report or by contacting Live Help. Thanks everyone!

And oh yes as usual if logins seem slow, it’s not just you because so many Residents are attempting to get inworld again… please wait in the queue, don’t force-quit and relog. I got an “Unable to connect” error the first time but I logged in successfully and am checking again…
October 11th, 2006 at 12:13 PM
Logged in twice successfully now. Also please note if your screen goes blank white when trying to login, that’s also “expected”. I’m watching here, good lux0rs.

Update instantly crashes after release notes. There’s no way it’s my iMac, since I just purchased it TODAY. …and I was all excited.
October 11th, 2006 at 12:42 PM
not real happy that this release didn’t fix the mac issue that goes back to mid-sept. and the last mini release. That doesn’t bode well. And it’s a waste of bloody time. If the thing isn’t going to work, send us to the website FIRST…. instead of after the 10-15 download at log-on.
Better yet, fix the thing so that all users get the same auto update.
I’m not angry or real impatient. And I’m sure there are tech issues galore. But this seems like a very odd work around to continue past a major upgrade.
October 11th, 2006 at 12:47 PM
I have the same problem - auto update, spectacular crash.
Using an Intel Mac OS X 10.4.8.

“i cant login it says make shore ur password is not in caps and i put my pass in and it say it again help me” —–

Help us pls!

I love 1.12.2!
I uploaded the new application, logged in with no problem, and noticed that I had 10 times the amount of Lindens in my account and triple the prim allottment for my land than this morning! With another update or two, I’ll be rich!
No, wait, that was a dream.
Seriously, congratulations on a smooth, timely update. After the issues of this weekend, it must be nice to have something positive to focus on.

I can login in https://secondlife.com and get all information about yourself, but after update i can’t login in SL! They say that i must check my name and password. But i did all correct!! Why Sl don’t work?
October 11th, 2006 at 12:59 PM
I cannot log in even if connected .
And a dialogue of “login faild” is displayed.
Though both an account and a password are right. . .whywhywhy
October 11th, 2006 at 1:08 PM
Anessia, you are probably getting caught in the mad rush to login…try again…
October 11th, 2006 at 1:19 PM
Anessia i have the same problem about a hour already and don’t know what to do.
October 11th, 2006 at 1:26 PM
Wow, thanks for all your hard work! Now that we can get back in, is there any hope of getting a hint about what LL is thinking about (or did about) the yap over scripting limitations: Are there any in this release? or do you guys think you have given us enough protection so we don’t get attacked again? Just curious

I cannot still log in.
I wait for it to be improved quietly.
October 11th, 2006 at 2:27 PM
try rebooting your mac if you’re having problems with crashing after the release notes.
fixed it for me on my macbook pro with os x 10.4.8
October 11th, 2006 at 3:51 PM
I *hope* they did something about scripting limitations. I haven’t been in-world since yesterday, but one of my projects got blacklisted after rezzing three objects. I waited an hour and tried again, but it was still blacklisted.
The restrictions that were in play yesterday were very much knee-jerk reactions similar to shutting off scripting grid-wide. I hope that they did relax the restrictions, although I don’t expect them to be nearly as lax as they were.

Congrats on a smooth and (mostly) stable release, and thank you for taking the extra time to test this build and work the bulk of the bugs out. Nicely done!
Take care! ^..^

Congrats on a great upgrade! In First Life I’m a software engineer, so I know how difficult upgrading even one server can be, upgrading the Gird is mind boggling. This time it was smooth and easy, at least from an end-user’s POV. Good work.
