Our Beta Test Grid has been updated to 1.12.2
Sunday, September 24th, 2006 at 8:04 AM by: TorleyAs Joe Linden commented earlier after we received requests to preview 1.12.2 before its release on Sept. 27:
SuezanneC: The beta version of 1.12.2 is now up for general access. The problem you mention regarding inventory folders is a known issue, but not corrected in the currently posted viewer. We hope to have a fix for this on Monday. The problem lies in how the inventory window is refreshed after a change to a folder name, or when creating a new one. Closing and reopening the inventory window, or changing the sort order will correctly redraw those folders (as a temporary workaround.)
You can download the the Beta Test Grid installer right now.

When I try to log in to the preview grid, it keeps telling me that “Login failed. As a security precaution, your password has been changed.” Then it tells me to reset my password, which works just fine on the main grid.
Changing my password does nothing. IMO, 3 days is not nearly enough time to beta test, and if I can’t get into the preview, how many others are barred?

How about giving Main Grid L$ rewards to anyone who can crash the test grid? It would give the hackers abd griefers something to do while allowing time to plug the holes before rolling it out.

Closing/reopening the inventory window or resorting inventory does *not* fix the problem. When I create a new folder and rename it, the only way I can subsequently see and use the new folder in 1.12.1(11) is to quit and log back in.

I just loaded the beta test grid in Aditi a short while before seeing this notice.
The appearance slider buttons don’t show until you click in the area where they should be (but aren’t).

It’d be nice to get a Linux preview. Send Tofu my regards!

I would like to suggest the inclusion of the current mirroring date (when the preview grid’s mirror was taken from the main grid) on the preview page. This would stem the flow of complaints from ‘n00bs’ that they cant log into that grid (not that they are complaining yet…) and would also give the rest of the folks some idea as to what they can expect in their inventory (or is it wiped completely? i forget)

oh, and Fushichou… try resorting the inventory, that works for me (albeit quite annoying) on the main grid,,,

one last item…
It seems that some accounts are hung in the ‘your password has been changed’ void on the preview grid… just thought you might wanna know cuz i gave it a few attempts - even went and changed it again just to be sure… its fubar

You may not be able to login to Aditi and this is why:
I could not log into Aditi because it said as a security precaution your password as been reset.
I talked to Milo and he said that they took the login snapshot shortly after the passwords were reset. If you changed your password before the snapshot then you can login. If not then you will get same message as I did. Preview was made available during the weekend and the one that does the snapshots is not on.
He is aware of problem now and I hope he can get someone to take a new snapshot tomorrow

I found a workaround for the inventory bug - Search for the object in question that you cannot see, suddenly the inventory refreshes and it IS there.

As Martha said, resorting the inventory, click Sort then by date or by name whichever isnt selected and then put it back makes the folder appear. It’s faster than using a search and not as messy, also if the folder has an item placed in it before you rename it then it doesnt disappear.

Another workaround for the folder issue is choosing File->New Window.

needless to say, we really shouldn’t need these workarounds when these items were fully functional prior to the latest round of ‘fixes’.
While i realize that, in some cases, the addition of new code _could_ cause problems with an already stable program, I find it completely laughable that when one or two things get ‘fixed’ a dozen other, perfectly operable, things find their way into the ‘broken’ pile. This never, ever fails and it always takes forever to fix the stuff that was working fine a few days ago… I would think that programming geniuses, like the dev team at LL, would come up with a ‘plan B’ or something - some alternate means of adding the new code if the first plan breaks too many things (like more than it actually fixes??)
The old saying of ‘two steps forward and three steps back’ applies very well to the last few weeks. The real kicker is that you have, seemingly begrudgingly, opened up the latest patch to the public with a completely messed up user data file…
I’ll take my doughnut with sprinkles, please :))

I’ll take the blame for opening up the preview on a grid with older passwords. Mea culpa.
Full details: we’ve been doing most previews on the “Siva” grid, and we did take regular snapshots of the “Agni” database as residents updated their passwords. Unfortunately, Siva suffered a series of hardware failures and was down to a much smaller number of regions than normal for preview, which made previewing a lot of content difficult or requested regions difficult. For this preview I wanted us to switch over to Aditi so we could get a decent grid to preview on. Sadly, we neglected to update the database snapshot. (In my defense, I was out sick on Friday, but I still should have thought of this before inflicting this on everyone!)
I’m planning to update the database snapshot first thing Monday morning; this will result in approximately 40 minutes of downtime for the preview.

i attempted to install the new beta version twice, and both times i received an error gregarding dnssd.dll not found, is this an error with the installer? or is this my system error, i find SL regular to run perfectly fine, has anyone else had this problem?
September 26th, 2006 at 6:38 AM
Looked good to me, I didn’t experience any problems, the inventory bug with it disapearing is fixed, i moved all kinds of stuff around, created folders.
Forgot to check the note card and picture opening on add to inventory which is a huge pain!
Last thing that will get checked tonight is the texture list when you are texturing a prim. It opens all folders expanded, I have everything in folders so I can go right where I want, if it opens and expands every folder that has a texture in it, that defeats the purpose. It even expands trash. It should only expand the texture folder, and no sub folders, which was the default behavior in the past.
